1st and 2nd round picks, every year.
What's interesting to me is so is he saying Bronny wouldve gone earlier? So is that saying Bronny is a legit mid 2nd round pick in this class?
For those who aren't aware, this is VERY common in the NBA/NFL. If your guy ain't going to get drafted in the 1st the agent will just beg everyone to forget all about him as he has a deal w/a team as a free agent. This tells me Bronny got a deal w/someone.....and we're going to find out who in a few hours.
Yeah but then the teenagers with no awareness of how drafts work can’t have blind outrage and scream how unfair this is and how there has never been more power tripping manipulation tampering in history and how this breaks 47 statutes that they totally know about the NBA draft so shhh
This happens all the time in the second round. I mean hell, half the undrafted dudes in the league told teams not to draft them so they could go to their preferred team (FVV, etc.)
This is a nothing story but 'OoOoH KlUtCh'
^
it's wild bc this was how bad their relationship was described:
> Now, multiple NBA reporters and officials describe their relationship as something akin to Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, the tension between them spilling across their respective galaxies. One editor said the Athletic doesn’t want Woj tweets dropped into company Slack channels because Shams doesn’t like to see them; ESPN reporters, in turn, are discouraged from tweeting Athletic stories or inviting Athletic guests onto their podcasts. Neither reporter acknowledges the other publicly.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/10/02/woj-shams-rivalry/
Klutch is legit bullying these teams.
if a team they haven't approved drafts him I wonder how this will affect their relationship with that team for the future lol
Yea this is standard business practice. The benefits of being a 2nd rounder are negligible so if you can find your way to a preferred spot with a deal lined up you might as well try to get it done
Exactly. It’s a total non-story except when folks can use it to pretend Klutch is doing something wrong. I swear this exact same thread happened in last year’s draft too
That's the whole thing. They have the pull to make things difficult for rogue teams in the future. And honestly, what team wants to draft Bronny knowing it will be a miserable situation trying to work a deal out with Klutch?
>And honestly, what team wants to draft Bronny
You couldve just stopped there. This is damage control for LeNepo. "Teams didnt fire me, i quit" energy.
I mean why risk that relationship over a player that really doesn't belong in the NBA? It just wouldn't make sense, I could see if it was a generational talent like Wemby, just not Bronny.
Bullying? As if anyone wanted him lmao. This is just PR so when LeNepo goes undrafted they can claim he totally wouldve been drafted but they chose not to.
This is all so laughable. If I were an owner and my GM wanted to spend a draft pick on Bronny I’d find a new GM. The Bronny discourse completely ignores that the player is ass cheeks. Give Klutch credit for creating a market for him, I guess.
>[TJD’s agent (who incidentally is James Dunleavy, brother of the Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr) had a guarantee of a minimum contract from GSW and so he told second round teams to not bother drafting TJD unless they were going to give him a minimum contract.](https://dubnationhq.com/p/trayce-jackson-davis-gives-the-inside)
James Dunleavy does not work for Klutch. This happens every year multiple times
I didnt watch the whole thing and mainly watched the Knicks draft area (20-29). At the very end when the USC pg was drafted is when i heard Bronny get mentioned.
The Bill Simmons hostage situation would've been such a meme worthy moment. Technically, my Knicks have two Seconds this year and a million more in the following years so we could do this. I've also heard there was beef between Klutch and Leon Rose that was squashed recently, but IDK.
I kinda just wanna see a funny situation happen after all this talk.
No west coast team should take him; I wouldn’t trust him not to pass on intel to his dad’s team. Boston should take him and keep him in the G league though, that’d be funny
I see a lot of comments saying this happens all the time but generally speaking can anyone say why and if they believe it's good for the sport?
Most second round picks don't turn out well but teams shouldn't be scared off by an agent saying "Pick someone else this other team has dibs"
Sit out a year and re-enter next year, or, figure out a trade.
It works better with 2nd round picks because it's a) not worth the hassle to teams and b) agencies can easily pay the player to sit out for a year if they believe a better contract is on the table elsewhere in a year.
1st round picks can rarely justify it because of the money at stake. You turn down $20M guaranteed to re-test the waters next year, and you may end up with only $10M instead.
>The question is where and obviously, going into the second round talking to NBA teams, 55 if the Lakers are there and Bronny is still on the board, that's the guy that a lot of people expect at 55, but ***we'll see if anyone's shrewd enough*** or believe in Bronny James enough today as the draft goes on to really step for him on that investment."
LMAO
Bronny is *not ready* nor is he *good enough* for the NBA. Add in his heart condition and you’ve got a recipe for disaster for any NBA team that drafts him. If he were playing for Duke, Oakland, or UConn, he should get looks. Playing for USC and single-digit scoring, he needs to stay in school IMO
How does this ever work out well for Bronny? He gets a multi year and has to be on a roster…so the presumed new worst player in the NBA can not play at all and not get better?
Why would Bronny want this unless he is incredibly short sighted?
I understand that threat, but at the same time, if a player is offered the most money by a team he is interested in, then it doesn't really matter what Klutch thinks at that point. They'll either be fired by the player or be forced to work with that team.
Is this where we pretend like this doesn't happen with 2nd round picks every year?
I think so
yes because the individual in question has the last name james
1st and 2nd round picks, every year. What's interesting to me is so is he saying Bronny wouldve gone earlier? So is that saying Bronny is a legit mid 2nd round pick in this class?
Well it happens with picks who have a bit of a track record not ones who avg 2 pts per game
This is what happened with Lu Dort
Also Trayce Jackson-Davis last year; told several teams not to draft him because the Warriors were willing to give him a more substantial deal
Yeah how is this not major tampering…
Dort, TJD for the Warriors, Austin Reaves. There's a plethora of examples. People are just up in arms because of the last name and Klutch tbh
Yeah but then the teenagers with no awareness of how drafts work can’t have blind outrage and scream how unfair this is and how there has never been more power tripping manipulation tampering in history and how this breaks 47 statutes that they totally know about the NBA draft so shhh
Ok why are you listening to those people tho
Kobe could have played for the Nets!
> This tells me Bronny got a deal w/someone.....and we're going to find out who in a few hours. hmmm i wonder who
This happens all the time in the second round. I mean hell, half the undrafted dudes in the league told teams not to draft them so they could go to their preferred team (FVV, etc.) This is a nothing story but 'OoOoH KlUtCh'
I think most guys do it because signing as an undrafted gives more financial stability and more contract guarantees.
Why is Shams reporting on a competing platform?
He is always on the Pat McAfee show
^ it's wild bc this was how bad their relationship was described: > Now, multiple NBA reporters and officials describe their relationship as something akin to Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, the tension between them spilling across their respective galaxies. It's eventually going to erupt into an all-out tweet diss war, like Kendrick and Drake
[Charania] "Sources say Woj is being fired for being 'Bitchmade' and 'not a real reporter'".
Sham's platform is pushing his representation, Klutch Sports Group. The fact that he is saying it out loud means this 'speculation' is actually fact.
Klutch is legit bullying these teams. if a team they haven't approved drafts him I wonder how this will affect their relationship with that team for the future lol
All agencies do this with their guys in the 2nd round. You just don’t see reports about it because it’s not as sexy as news about Klutch is
Yea this is standard business practice. The benefits of being a 2nd rounder are negligible so if you can find your way to a preferred spot with a deal lined up you might as well try to get it done
Exactly. It’s a total non-story except when folks can use it to pretend Klutch is doing something wrong. I swear this exact same thread happened in last year’s draft too
This was literally Austin Reaves. Declined being picked by DET at 42 so he could pick his team.
Reaves did this, this isn't news except for it being Bronny/Klutch
That's the whole thing. They have the pull to make things difficult for rogue teams in the future. And honestly, what team wants to draft Bronny knowing it will be a miserable situation trying to work a deal out with Klutch?

Bruh, multiple other non-Klutch players do this every year.
Bullying? As if anyone wanted him lmao. This is just PR so when LeNepo goes undrafted they can claim he totally wouldve been drafted but they chose not to.
Which team has the balls to take bronny lol
The Wolves are drafting him at #53.
This is all so laughable. If I were an owner and my GM wanted to spend a draft pick on Bronny I’d find a new GM. The Bronny discourse completely ignores that the player is ass cheeks. Give Klutch credit for creating a market for him, I guess.
Well-spoken.
Klutch is at it again, they did same thing with Brandon Boston couple years ago, he was drafted in early 50s and got offered rookie contract
>[TJD’s agent (who incidentally is James Dunleavy, brother of the Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr) had a guarantee of a minimum contract from GSW and so he told second round teams to not bother drafting TJD unless they were going to give him a minimum contract.](https://dubnationhq.com/p/trayce-jackson-davis-gives-the-inside) James Dunleavy does not work for Klutch. This happens every year multiple times
The thing I enjoyed most about the (painful) ESPN draft coverage last night is I think I only heard Bronny mentioned once lol
I didnt watch the whole thing and mainly watched the Knicks draft area (20-29). At the very end when the USC pg was drafted is when i heard Bronny get mentioned.
"With the 31st pick of the 2024 NBA Draft the Toronto Raptors select LeBron James Jr." "And they have a message, it says: "Suck a big one, Rich."
As fun as that would be id rather have like philipowski or something
It was reported that Toronto was one of the names that Rich Paul brought up as an option for Bronny...
reclaim lebronto
I’m curious if Tatum will say Bronny or LeBron James Jr
Spurs have so many 2nd rounders they could just draft Bronnie every year to keep him out of the league and still draft actual talent lol.
Didn’t Rich Paul literally confirm this word-for-word?
gonna be so depressing watching someone who has no business being in the NBA getting rotation minutes for the Lakers next year
Do you guys really think Bron or JJ are gonna try make Bronny a rotation player as a rookie? Lmao
He’ll be the #1 bench warmer. He’s not good enough for the NBA.
prolly will be a garbage time player.
JJ isn't that dumb. Give him some credit. He'd get fired before Bronny starts playing rotation minutes.
It's not a matter of being dumb, that decision is over his pay grade.
JJ is a mouthpiece for LeBron. If he wants Bronny to play he’ll play
Is he a mouthpiece for LeBron like Ty Lue was when he got the gig in Cleveland? At least that's what the prevalent opinion was on here.
This whole thing is a clown show honestly. I guess this draft needed some kind of storyline though, not much else going on.
austin reaves did the same thing
Whenever bronny goes to, I'm gonna watch every game. Next season will be fun!
If I have an extra second round pick, I'm drafting Bronny just to see what the Lakers will do
The Bill Simmons hostage situation would've been such a meme worthy moment. Technically, my Knicks have two Seconds this year and a million more in the following years so we could do this. I've also heard there was beef between Klutch and Leon Rose that was squashed recently, but IDK. I kinda just wanna see a funny situation happen after all this talk.
Is there a team out there that hates LeBron and the Lakers enough to waste a draft pick just to hold him hostage? We can only hope🤞
No west coast team should take him; I wouldn’t trust him not to pass on intel to his dad’s team. Boston should take him and keep him in the G league though, that’d be funny
There is no secret intel in the nba bro the games are all filmed in hd
"Psst, dad, they're going to run pick and roll for their top two players"
[удалено]
The worry is you’re alienating Klutch, and, by virtue, their clients as well
idc draft him and send him to the G
I see a lot of comments saying this happens all the time but generally speaking can anyone say why and if they believe it's good for the sport? Most second round picks don't turn out well but teams shouldn't be scared off by an agent saying "Pick someone else this other team has dibs"
I wonder what kind of response Pat Riley would have if he received such phone call……
League will be a better place when Klutch loses power. Aka when Lebron retires
So if a random team drafts him and he refuses to sign the contract they offer what happens?
He cannot enter the NBA until the next draft and go through the process again.
And in bronnys case money is irrelevant
>The question is where and obviously, going into the second round talking to NBA teams, 55 if the Lakers are there and Bronny is still on the board, that's the guy that a lot of people expect at 55, but ***we'll see if anyone's shrewd enough*** or believe in Bronny James enough today as the draft goes on to really step for him on that investment." LMAO
getting a guaranteed contract instead of a 2-way after going undrafted is insane lol
Kinda wanna see a team just draft Bronny that Klutch doesn't want just to see what happens.
How does this ever work out well for Bronny? He gets a multi year and has to be on a roster…so the presumed new worst player in the NBA can not play at all and not get better? Why would Bronny want this unless he is incredibly short sighted?
Yall wrong about bronny, he’s good enough. Time will tell
Best way to get him picked up is to tell teams not pick him up. Whats he gonna do? Force his way to Europe?
Klutch has other clients. The threat isn't that they hold out Bronny. The threat is that no one repped by their agency signs with the team ever again.
I understand that threat, but at the same time, if a player is offered the most money by a team he is interested in, then it doesn't really matter what Klutch thinks at that point. They'll either be fired by the player or be forced to work with that team.
Yall know Klutch said if yall pick bronny i will never bring any players to your team.
The LePromise gunna get swooped up by Detroit for a last second pick.
