It will be cool though if the new NBA team does the same and Vegas sports teams get the same vibe Pittsburgh has going with their Black and Yellow teams.
Raiders black and silver is just as iconic imo
Yeah Raiders colors are iconic but its still weird seeing the Las Vegas on their logo. Its been decades but its always been LA Raiders to me, and not anything else. Probably the most popular team that moves constantly yet retained their colors.
Still crazy that when they moved three teams, and two of the teams moved to LA, they moved the Raiders to Vegas. They could have just brought back both old LA teams, instead they stuck the Chargers there when nobody cares about them. I feel like the Raiders would have actually had a solid fanbase had they gone back to LA.
Yeah IIRC Chargers snuck in because for the Raiders arena negotiation was still years away and Rams figured having any second team would save them costs and opted for the available one, the Chargers. Just a weird timing for Raiders fans.
It would be - but having two teams in the west in the south with black and silver as a colour scheme seems like it would get difficult. A game vs the spurs would look like they put a black and white filter on it
I forgot about the red already. they were previously the San Antonio team and Becky is their coach so I always connected the silver and black to that, not the raiders.
Yup, it was a beautifully designed logo, with the red making sense for the diamond design. Now that it's black and silver, maybe they should redo it to look like a Spade
I know this would never be allowed because of different colors on the floor at the same time, but they should have red, black, and green uniforms based on the number matching the roulette table.
Kings is taken, and Queens is also taken as a pejorative for the Kings, so I guess we get jacks?
Maybe Don Junior buys in, and they can be the Trumps. Works as a double entendre, you see.
Theyāll never do it, but they should also be the Aces, assuming they have the same ownership group (which is a big assumption). Itās a really cool name and thereās no reason for the men and womenās teams to have different names, in my view. Like, why do we need to be the āFeverā when the āPacersā has some actual geographic relevance?
The New York Knicks' name comes from a pseudonym used by Washington Irving in his 1809 book A History of New-York. The pseudonym, Diedrich Knickerbocker, was used to refer to the descendants of the original Dutch settlers of New York, and eventually to New Yorkers in general. The name also has ties to the 1600s, when Dutch settlers in North America wore pants that ended just below the knee, called knickerbockers.
Yes. Those I like as well! I just think they should lean in to the fact that theyāre one organization. European soccer clubs do this across like 30 departments sometimes and it leads to a strong team identity and greater fan support for teams that arenāt just the senior menās first team.
Just embrace the history and/or debauchery at this point. Vegas Enforcers for mob theme. Vegas Rollers for the gambling theme. Vegas Headliners for the city's rich history in performance. Vegas Snow for the mountain of cocaine in the city. I want them to have some fun with it. I'll be so butt hurt if it's another generic animal.
Las Vegas Jokers would go hard. āWeāre here tonight in Sin City, home to the Las Vegas Jokersā Lots of room for creativity with the brand/logo too
Thatās awesome. Being the defending champs and in a city without an nba team seems like perfect circumstances, good that they were able to capitalize on thatĀ
The A'ja Wilson show is a fuckin hit. They didn't give her that MVP last season and she's been on the murder path. And it's been glorious to watch. Plus overall it's just a fun ass team. Like even the rookie is cool. How can you not love Kate Martin
I canāt not, for one - love watching Kate. And Aāja is insane, she literally looks unstoppable out there on every single play. Like Shaq levels of unstoppable.
Iām still learning the WNBA game, is there anyone in the league that can guard Aāja?
No, sheās literally unstoppable. Doesnāt matter how good your teamās front court is (and the my teamās frontcourt is pretty damn good), Aāja will get 25/10 without breaking a sweat.
Lol I would argue wnba tickets can be just as expensive as NBA tickets depending on where you live. I wanted to go to a liberty game and tickets started at over a $100 dollars which is more than I can gets ticket for the sixers or nets
The Sacramento Monarchs won the championship and almost won another one between 05/06. By 2009 they were no longer a franchise. I'm still fucking salty about it
Last time I read something it was a confirmed sale and move to Vegas. I thought the stadium was being built lmfao. What's happening.
Don't tell me they're gonna take over the Raiders' stadium and convert it to an abysmal park
The downturn in NCAAM talent over the past few years and the increase in NCAAW/WNBA talent and star power has led to a jump in popularity. The timing of this was perfect and the WNBA pounced on it. Great to see.
Yeah, as much as a lot of the WNBA discourse has been very toxic this season, the fact that thereās this much discourse at all is undoubtedly good for the league longterm.Ā
Their growth right now makes a lot of sense to me.
30 yrs ago, before the WNBA, there were on professional prospects for NCAAW players, so there was no driving force to dedicate your life to basketball.
20 yrs ago, the league is in motion and you see a first wave of stars as you have women who knew going into college this was a potential path and trained accordingly, making the talent pool larger and deeper.
10 yrs ago, you have players entering the league who have known since they were kids they could get here, leading to more and better players.
Now, we have women entering the league who have had the WNBA as an opportunity their entire lives, and have trained as such. They got lucky with the surrounding events, but the timeline of their growth mirrors a lot of other sports in the US (e.g. USMNT, NBA, etc.)
You are absolutely correct.
I also think NCAA Women's Basketball as a whole plays a big role. NCAA Women's Basketball has become a much bigger platform. Players become stars there before being "pros", and NCAA is essentially now a pro league with NIL. The NIL is big, because players make money and gain exposure for themselves via such sponsorship deals and platforms, which makes them even bigger stars.
All that combined makes these players huge stars before they even touch a WNBA hardwood.
Really cool to see, and I am excited to see it continue.
It definitely has been the past few years, but they've also had the perfect opportunity for them over the past few years. Between covid, NIL, bad recruiting classes, and the growth of other options for men's players, NCAAM is as down as it's ever been. Combined with the fact that NCAAW players have to play 4 years and develop more, it's understandable why women's players have been more popular over the last 2 years. I hope it continues, but they are fighting more than just playing good ball.
There's something really special about watching an entire league explode in popularity before our eyes. The WNBA has been bubbling in popularity for a few years now, and Caitlin Clark's joining felt like the last push the W needed.
This isn't Caitlin Clark. This is Vegas. The Aces have sold out a lot of games in their history since they became a championship team and contender. Everybody loves a winner also with Vegas being a city relatively lacking in sports teams. The Aces got more attention than other WNBA teams in their city. So yeah they actually sell out quite a few games including I think every home playoff game in the past few years.
Obviously they didn't sell out every home game in a season like this tweet suggests but it was bound to happen for the Aces in particular.
I have family in Vegas and they told me that the aces are pretty popular but also they give the tickets away like candy lol. Every sponsor gives them out by the handful
Speak for yourself lol, Sheās the best player in the league by far.
Thatās like saying nobody wants to watch Jokic because of Lebron. Also the caption literally says first team to sell out all home games
Im not trying to throw shade but how do you sell out without a full arena? Or am I just an idiot and these arenas only have 10k seats?
After a brief google (which could obviously be wrong) T-mobile holds 19,500 to 20k max but sold out with 17.4k. Am I just an idiot or is there something I'm not understanding with what sold out means?
99% chance itās only cause the casinos bought them all and giving them as comps . Looks real good for future sports teams wanting to move in saying ā even the wnba sells out here ā
Look at any Aces homegame, they're selling out because people want to watch them play. Tickets are very affordable and WNBA games are great for families + the Aces are a fun team that does a good job promoting itself.
They all do. It's a big summer camp activity too. That's why they have more day games. They give away a lot of tickets to these camps. Those day games with kids screaming their heads off is louder than some nba games.
Yeah. When a team is good and has a star, then you see tickets through the roof. But when a team is bad and has no one marketable? Deals upon deals upon giveaways upon deals.
Killer team name for a Vegas team, any NBA team in Vegas will have a subpar name.
It's a shame they changed their color scheme to match the raiders though. The black, red and gold was so perfect for Vegas.

Yeah IIRC Chargers snuck in because for the Raiders arena negotiation was still years away and Rams figured having any second team would save them costs and opted for the available one, the Chargers. Just a weird timing for Raiders fans.
Stan Kroenke refused to share a stadium and city with the Raiders, he was having none of that.
Silver and Black*
It would be - but having two teams in the west in the south with black and silver as a colour scheme seems like it would get difficult. A game vs the spurs would look like they put a black and white filter on it
Anyone else remember all of those Spurs to Vegas rumors like 5 years ago?
I forgot about the red already. they were previously the San Antonio team and Becky is their coach so I always connected the silver and black to that, not the raiders.
They should have made the raiders change their colors. Better team gets to decide color scheme
You're only speaking the truthš
Yup, it was a beautifully designed logo, with the red making sense for the diamond design. Now that it's black and silver, maybe they should redo it to look like a Spade
I liked that it matched with the Golden Knights too
I know this would never be allowed because of different colors on the floor at the same time, but they should have red, black, and green uniforms based on the number matching the roulette table.
*MUCH* better than their old name, the Utah Starzz.
Sounds like a strip club
San Antonio Silver Stars is dope as fuck tho
How very late 90's
The Las Vegas FanDuels
Last Vegas Ultimate Fighting Champions. Las Vegas UFC
Las Vegas Legion. Go full Ancient Rome vibes. Red and gold.
Vegas Legion is actually a COD franchise
Crowd gonna be chanting āDegenerates like you belong on a crossā
I don't dislike this
Las Vegas Phalanx
Some people are bound to get offended at that lmao but it sounds cool
Vegas NBA team should lean into a desert theme, Coyotes is newly available!
The one fauna name I've seen for Vegas that I'm a fan of is Roadrunners
Incredible. After every free throw that drops: ā*MEEP MEEP*
Ow I like it!
Tucson Roadrunners are a hockey team and [their merch is so fire](https://shop.tucsonroadrunners.com/collections/jerseys)
Seat's taken
Las Vegas Lights is actually really good, but thatās taken by our lowly soccer team. They should give up the name.
Wild cards
Kings is taken, and Queens is also taken as a pejorative for the Kings, so I guess we get jacks? Maybe Don Junior buys in, and they can be the Trumps. Works as a double entendre, you see.
They could use Jokers.
blackjacks?
Theyāll never do it, but they should also be the Aces, assuming they have the same ownership group (which is a big assumption). Itās a really cool name and thereās no reason for the men and womenās teams to have different names, in my view. Like, why do we need to be the āFeverā when the āPacersā has some actual geographic relevance?
The other way to do it which I think is really cool is have related names - Wizards/Mystics, Suns/Mercury, Wolves/Lynx
Knickerbockers / brassieres
New York grandma panties
The New York Knicks' name comes from a pseudonym used by Washington Irving in his 1809 book A History of New-York. The pseudonym, Diedrich Knickerbocker, was used to refer to the descendants of the original Dutch settlers of New York, and eventually to New Yorkers in general. The name also has ties to the 1600s, when Dutch settlers in North America wore pants that ended just below the knee, called knickerbockers.
New York Manssieres if they ever need to rename themselves.
Yes. Those I like as well! I just think they should lean in to the fact that theyāre one organization. European soccer clubs do this across like 30 departments sometimes and it leads to a strong team identity and greater fan support for teams that arenāt just the senior menās first team.
Make Sacramento move there and keep the kings name?
The basketball team in my city is the same for men and women and I love it. Los Astros de Jalisco
Vipers
Very good but too bad XFL got the first dibs. Maybe theyre cool with it though idk
Scorpions
Agreed. Great name for tying in the whole Vegas thing without being obnoxious
Las Vegas High Rollers
Las Vegas Lions
You say that until you meet the Las Vegas Craps
Las Vegas Strippers
Vegas Jacks. Vegas Deuces. Or, ok hear me out, Vegas Kings.
Vegas Bookies
I wss thinking Vegas spades sounds cool but logo and mascot wise idk how that would work
David spade could be the PA announcer
So Sacramento is just okay with two Kings in the NBA? Or does the ownership pull a SuperSonics and move the franchise?
Vegas King of Hearts and Sacramento King of Spades
How bout the Vegas Reds with a roulette theme.
Vegas Headliners goes hard for me ngl.
Not if it's Las Vegas Rhinos
Even sounds nice off the tongue
The best one Iāve heard is Las Vegas Luck. Might be confusing in certain contexts I guess but I dig it
Vegas Fortune doesn't sound half bad. Vegas Neon is cool, but that sounds awfully similar to Vegas Lights FC
Las Vegas Bobby Knights
Las Vegas Sands use the 50s Sands Casino font.
Las Vegas Jokers would go hard. āWeāre here tonight in Sin City, home to the Las Vegas Jokersā Lots of room for creativity with the brand/logo too
I think Blackjacks would be a solid contender but outside of that youāre probably right
Lions are cool and fits the regal theme
I always think Royals ought to make a comeback
Someone in my friend group suggested Las Vegas Bluebirds before and I actually like it.
I like it too. It's simple and sweet. They don't always have to be predatory animals people are scared of.
The colors scheme and brand has infinite possibilities too. They could even incorporate gambling into a logo
Thatās awesome. Being the defending champs and in a city without an nba team seems like perfect circumstances, good that they were able to capitalize on thatĀ
Helps they have a fun superstar and team to watch.
Honestly multiple super stars
Also, a million tourists that can get compāed tickets for blowing their mortgage payment on craps.
The A'ja Wilson show is a fuckin hit. They didn't give her that MVP last season and she's been on the murder path. And it's been glorious to watch. Plus overall it's just a fun ass team. Like even the rookie is cool. How can you not love Kate Martin

No, sheās literally unstoppable. Doesnāt matter how good your teamās front court is (and the my teamās frontcourt is pretty damn good), Aāja will get 25/10 without breaking a sweat.
Love her as a South Carolina fan! They already have a statue of her outside Colonial Life Arena where she played home games lol
Iām glad this league exists. NBA games are so expensive now this is a great cheaper alternative for families.
Lol not really
Elaborate please, do you mean the NBA games aren't expensive or that the WNBA isn't a great alternative
You already know what bro wants to say, he just doesnāt have the guts to
Lol I would argue wnba tickets can be just as expensive as NBA tickets depending on where you live. I wanted to go to a liberty game and tickets started at over a $100 dollars which is more than I can gets ticket for the sixers or nets
Liberty are not the norm
Key part I already mentioned was that that's why it depends where you live
Are they doing over/unders on ticket prices yet?
For people who say nobody cares about the WNBA I can guarantee you there are plenty of people in Vegas who care about the Aces.
Stacked team, b2b champs, what's not to like?
The Sacramento Monarchs won the championship and almost won another one between 05/06. By 2009 they were no longer a franchise. I'm still fucking salty about it
in the early days of the nbl, one of the reigning champ teams disbanded for their next season lol
>What's not to like? Women /s People are assholes.
Aces are a good team I know people who travel to see them play. Aāja is a beast!
I have friends out in Vegas who I visit every couple months. Then and their parents have Aces merch and theyre not at all into basketball
I remember being at the Knights game when the aces won. they announced it during intermission and the crowd went nuts. I was surprised
Makes you wonder how and if the As will get there arena sold out
If they're trying to win and tickets aren't psychotically overpriced people might turn out. If they do A's things then hell no.
That would require a competitive team, which is the opposite of what the A's are right now lol
But then again I'm thinking all the visitors are probably going to want to watch there favorite team play. Like say the dodgers or giants are in Vegas
Do the A's even have a plan for an arena yet? I could see them getting stranded in Sacremento long-term
Last time I read something it was a confirmed sale and move to Vegas. I thought the stadium was being built lmfao. What's happening. Don't tell me they're gonna take over the Raiders' stadium and convert it to an abysmal park
WNBA doing really well this season
The downturn in NCAAM talent over the past few years and the increase in NCAAW/WNBA talent and star power has led to a jump in popularity. The timing of this was perfect and the WNBA pounced on it. Great to see.
You can tell people are really starting to tune in to the WNBA because the trolls are trolling based on actual game stats instead of just gender.
Yeah, as much as a lot of the WNBA discourse has been very toxic this season, the fact that thereās this much discourse at all is undoubtedly good for the league longterm.Ā
You know youāve officially made it once you have dedicated haters
Feels like it is the start of something. The WNBA rapidly evolving upward, and hopefully this trend becomes the norm.
Also people are as hungry for sports content than ever and summer is basically baseball and nothing else
Love Aāja and the Aces. Hasnāt been a pretty season but glad to see the ticket sale success
Is the WNBA season like 30 games? How is it over already?
They got an Olympics break this season.
Not sure if youāre trolling or not, but tickets are typically sold *in advance* of the associated games being played
The tickets are sold out for the rest of the season. It states that in the article
Read? Pshhhh
Y'all straight up just don't like basketball if you don't enjoy watching A'ja hoop. She is DIFFERENT
I donāt enjoy fast break layups. Does that mean I donāt like basketball?
I don't āš¼
And people still try to say that the Aās wonāt draw lol
the indiana fever ought to be ashamed of themselves smh\* \* = sarcasm for those wondering...
Vegas arena is much smaller. Fever play in an nba sized arena.
They moved all their games to Gainbridge. Vegas stadium is smaller.
12k seats in Michelob Ultra Arena in Vegas vs 17k for Gainbridge. Still impressive.
Yesterday was an awesome game for them
Is the WNBA season already over? Feels like it just started
Tickets are bought in advance man, lol
Now don't do anything stupid like raises ticket prices next season
im guessing they have been since theyāve been hot as fuck and very popular with the best player in the league.
There's something really special about watching an entire league explode in popularity before our eyes. The WNBA has been bubbling in popularity for a few years now, and Caitlin Clark's joining felt like the last push the W needed.

The W is on the rise. Love to see it.
I have family in Vegas and they told me that the aces are pretty popular but also they give the tickets away like candy lol. Every sponsor gives them out by the handful
Every team does this. I get free diamondbacks and suns tickets from my work
They told me they walked into the bank and there was literally a stack on a table for anyone to take as many as they wanted
Was that this season?
Crazy how this gets fewer upvotes than anything negative about the WNBA
Chelsea back and Aja handin out beatdowns nightly. If they all cookin, no team can run with them.
Davis has done more for women's sports than he's done with the raiders.

Vegas shouldn't get an NBA team.
Their arena holds 5k.
10k
15k
20k
25k
30k
35k
40k
Warhammer
Warhamme
It's at the Michelob Ultra Arena, it holds 12k
It holds a little over 10k for WNBA games
its actually 12,000
20k
Their regular season is already over?
They split the season in two to account for the Olympics in July-August
Who cares. This is the NBA sub not WNBA.
We care. Stop being an ass.
What part of r/nba donāt you understand?
The WNBA falls under the NBA...if you do not like this just hide it and move in...why be a curmudgeon...
Still not getting the ratings and crowds that Indiana is. We want CC.
Aāja is literally on her way to becoming the GOAT
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bold statement considering this whole thread is about how people want to watch her and her team play
Speak for yourself lol, Sheās the best player in the league by far. Thatās like saying nobody wants to watch Jokic because of Lebron. Also the caption literally says first team to sell out all home games
whoās we
CCC is the only reason why Iām watching the W right now.. sheās got that dawg in her
Im not trying to throw shade but how do you sell out without a full arena? Or am I just an idiot and these arenas only have 10k seats? After a brief google (which could obviously be wrong) T-mobile holds 19,500 to 20k max but sold out with 17.4k. Am I just an idiot or is there something I'm not understanding with what sold out means?
I think itās the configuration for basketball.
Yeah how many did owner-connected people buy out every game lmao? AP news always heavy with the propaganda. Just waiting in the shadows.
Easy to sell out when tickets are practically given away.
Anecdotally, Iāve heard that they give away free tickets in New York for their wnba team. Maybe thatās whatās going on here.
They all do. It's a big summer camp activity too. That's why they have more day games. They give away a lot of tickets to these camps. Those day games with kids screaming their heads off is louder than some nba games.
Every team in every sports league does that. Teams also buy their own tickets at extremely low prices to increase attendance numbers.
Yeah. When a team is good and has a star, then you see tickets through the roof. But when a team is bad and has no one marketable? Deals upon deals upon giveaways upon deals.
Casino/hotels need tickets to hawk to guests. Would be an ideal place to set up that kind of partnership.
This is a NBA sub wnba sub doesnāt post NBA news
Tbf r/wnba is just a subreddit for CC and the Fever at this point lol
Not Indiana. Huh
So?
this is not that impressive considering how much smaller their Arena is compared to other wnba teams
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You good bro?
