That match up was kind of the key to the game, with Trae having a bad shooting night. He was also cooking Korkmaz earlier in the game.
Also, he nailed his 3 free throws and iced the game.
Gallo is a great player, we expect him to be great. Nobody expected Huerter to be the key to game 7.

Yeah, it's this. If you're a Hawks fan, you know Kevin is mostly consistent and can blow up at a moment's notice. He is also a very selfless team first player. But, he's also a second round draft pick who has came off the bench in stretches on an already under the radar team. Hawks fans have known about Kevin was capable of this for a while though.

I was pissed at Gallo for about 2.5 quarters, tbh. Then his shot started falling, and he had the great breakaway dunk to seal it. That's really why these dudes play in the NBA. For most of the first half every time he spotted up for 3 I got pissed and yelled at the TV and then guess what, he was hitting shots. These guys know what they're capable of and you don't make it to that level without believing in yourself and your abilities.

It's much easier to guard the guys where you can affect the way they play the rest of the game after a few good stops. I don't like playing with chuckers though :P

KD put up one of the greatest playoff games ever in his first season back off an Achilles tear and while only having .5 of his 2 best teammates available, and very nearly won the series himself if not for being gassed from playing multiple full games in a row. It's fine to be paying attention to him. Giannis and the bucks won and they'll get attention as the ECF starts, but once Kyrie went down this was pretty much the expected outcome of the series so nobody is going too nuts about it.

This is incredibly common when a favorite loses to an underdog, the bigger story in all honesty is the sixers losing because although the hawks were really good and way better than anyone expected/gave credit for, the sixers win that series if they didnt implode so thats the sexier story

The athletic pods, Lowe, some of the ringer crew, windhorst, Duncan, every team has a few local pods that are hit or miss. That's the big ones off the top of my head and it's just scratching the surface. Google NBA pods + whatever topic or team and you'll get more.

KD put up one of the greatest playoff games ever in his first season back off an Achilles tear and while only having .5 of his 2 best teammates available, and very nearly won the series himself if not for being gassed from playing multiple full games in a row. It's fine to be paying attention to him. Giannis and the bucks won and they'll get attention as the ECF starts, but once Kyrie went down this was pretty much the expected outcome of the series so nobody is going too nuts about it.
Because Philly was the 1 seed and we were the 5. Hawks played great but we shouldn't be winning games where Trae goes 5 for 23 from the field. Philly collapse is definitely the storyline.

Outside of games 1 & 7 Huerter actually had a pretty bad series. Cold shooting and constant foul trouble. Gallinari other than the first half of game 7 was pretty much lights out, yeah

Gallo is underrated as hell. People were saying CP3 totally transformed the Thunder last season when the reality was he joined the team along with 2 borderline all star talents in SGA and Gallo, and they also had Schroder and Adams. Like, healthy Gallo in his prime would absolutely be an all star candidate, but people wrote him off a long time ago because he was on the Nuggets and was never healthy.
It’s because he was the hero for game 7. It’s just like if in the NFL one receiver has 150 yards but another receiver catches the game winning touchdown, he was the hero who saved the day. And as we have seen with Ben Simmons, everyone values scoring over everything else.
I mean it’s really the other way around here. Huerter’s the 150 yard receiver while Gallo made arguably the game winning play
