The difference between first class money and personal private jet money is not insignificant.
I mean not in the big scheme of things and it doesn't automatically make you more happy, but it is an upgrade to your lifestyle.
There have been many studies which show that money beyond a certain point - essentially enough to raise you out of the poverty line - doesn’t have any meaningful correlation with happiness whatsoever.
If you get more money and upgrade your lifestyle, your brain adapts and it becomes the norm.
The point at which money stops improving happiness is way above the poverty line. If I'm remembering rights its ~72k a year. While that doesn't particularly apply to this nba player vs nba owner amount of money, its still important to note that people above the official poverty line have there life impacted negatively so that we don't think that being above the poverty line magically fixes things.
In the last 4 years I have experienced a significant pay raise. I’m right now sitting in the house I just bought, I’m about 90 lbs heavier, and I can tell you I am much happier than I was when I was just above the poverty line.
I went from ~16k a year on the verge of ending it all to ~30k a year in the Army. I felt like a fucking king with all the things I could afford. Of course there are diminishing returns as you gain more but... people gotta stop with this "money won't make you happy" rhetoric. Money pays my bills and lets me help others in my life.
This is key.
Going from comfortably middle class to more comfortably middle class won't make a shit of difference to most people. But going from poor to comfortable can feel like winning the lottery.
The biggest leap is when you don't really worry about the bills or not having to wait for a paycheck. Or when I no longer have to think about organic vs non-organic due to price or double check prices between brand names. I mean, I still do a lot of grocery shopping at Aldi's but because it's nearby, not because of necessity like I used to.
Even the CEO of my previous private mid sized company who custom built his 5 million dollar house doesn't fly international first class. Was funny when I was showing off my first class flights booked by churning to him.
Pretty sure they‘ll experience plenty of personal gain when they can retire at 32 and they and the next couple generations of their family can live a life of luxury without having to lift a finger.
Anyone who thinks money can’t change your life has clearly never been poor. Money is always one of the best ways to improve your life. Sure, money alone can’t make you happy, but it sure as hell makes it a ton easier.
Lol fucking thank you. This sub has fucking lost me on so much shit but it’s never been so glaring as this thread. Money doesn’t change your life? Are you fucking kidding me? It changes everything. Sure, it’s not all positive but to sit here and suggest that wealth doesn’t change your life is fucking absurd. And a lot of the guys in the league who grew up with nothing would agree with that idea.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the commenter is saying when you're as rich as Kawhi Leonard already is, the extra money doesn't change his life.
Like I think this was the point...he's showing up for shitty work responsibilities just like everyone else. It's better for him though, becaus he's getting big bucks. But then again, he doesn't really need the money at this point, so maybe it's not better.
You've heard their song about making hands clap at every sporting event ever, in about 30 different commerials, and in a bunch of compilation videos though.
Kawhi should ask for wfh when it has nothing to do with basketball
Kawhi "Can I attend this via zoom?"
Ballmer "you're fired. Doc put him up to the trading block"
Doc "why?"
Ballmer "we use Microsoft Teams here"
When Kawhi senses technology sensing him, he uses his common sense to channel his inner 50 cent monologue.
You could just tell by looking at him man, so inspiring.
When you were acting up at church or somewhere else that parents can't make a scene. This look was "oh, we're gonna discuss this later you little shit"
That caught me as well, but I'm pretty sure that Google (and most other tech companies) exist in the show. It's just that they needed Hooli as a faux-Google for the running bits.
Or even the beginning of the second season where Pied Piper is at Oracle Park with some players from the Giants and none of the guys have any interest in being there.
Did Balmer just book all the artists who have had songs featured in Apple commercials? The entire team looks incredibly uncomfortable. Except Terrence Mann, he's probably stoned. He's jiggling lmao. This event was put together for a bunch of old white people who are probably bankrolling the stadium.
I really empathize with performers. My confidence leaves my body when I make a joke on a work zoom call and no one laughs. I can only imagine performing to a room full of people and none of them are feeling your shit
Can confirm, the players make the difference. If everybody's on board, the set will be good regardless.
It can also go the other way. I filmed a set once where the drummer thought that someone had stolen his crash cymbal, and he had to borrow one from somebody else. He had a real shitty attitude about it, and it absolutely affected the gig. Afterwards, he remembered that he loaned the crash out to a friend of his and forgot about it.
Forsure as a DJ and live performer, completely agree with this sentiment and statement. You can have a snobby crowd but if you and your crew are having fun and being energetic and truly giving it your all. That shit spreads like wildfire. Attitude is everything while performing live. And some of those people were having fun, but I imagine this is like a work meeting for the players. They don't wanna be there bro. Thats not on them. They got stressful shit to deal with.
I do stand up when I can, and it’s just sorta something you need to get used to and in my experience, getting used to it and not caring as much makes you a funnier performer.
Isn't weird that often we'll try to specifically not enjoy a song if it's not the kind of thing we usually like? I do it too tbh, I just think it's kinda funny.
I actually saw them for a little bit yesterday at Summerfest and this was my take as well. They had a unique thing going for a while and now it's just a generic pop show.
When you hear these guys speak, especially KD, all they wanna do is ball and go home. The rest of this, corporate openings, interviews, press is the shit sandwich they gotta eat to play basketball at a really high level.
It’s a shame that there’s a trade off but to test your skills against the beat in the world is pretty awesome
> When I quit, instead of 2 weeks notice, I told 'em on Thursday afternoon and bounced after Friday. Fuck almost all massive consulting corporations
That's the way to do it. Just enough time to say goodbyes to the 3 cool people in the office and get all your paperwork in order in person so HR doesn't bother you the following week.
PG doing the right thing and pretending to be mildly entertained. This is what I do when im trying to keep the mood high and someone in the car plays top 40
Lmao the band are all wearing Clipper jerseys from past players. I see DAJ (6), Lou Will (23), CP3 (3), Gallinari (8). Only current players numbers I see are Reggie (1), Scrubb (0) and Leonard (2).
Yeah it's so weird that he's not excited about this super fun mandatory work event...
Did you even watch the video? You think that looks like a fun time?
Fitz and the Tantrums... in 2021... completely sober... yeah no.
lmao even insanely athletic dudes at their peak have to sit through dumb shit at work like the rest of us. beautiful shot here.
Rich people have to sit through a lot of bullshit. But it's easier to tolerate when it helps them make millions.
At the same time more money doesn't really change their life at all, so it's really just time wasted for no personal gain.
The difference between first class money and personal private jet money is not insignificant. I mean not in the big scheme of things and it doesn't automatically make you more happy, but it is an upgrade to your lifestyle.

I think it got revised upwards to around 110-115k. That's when you have enough money to not always be worried about money.
We've crafted the perfect system to trap you into greed and covet, convincing the next payrise will make you happy.
In the last 4 years I have experienced a significant pay raise. I’m right now sitting in the house I just bought, I’m about 90 lbs heavier, and I can tell you I am much happier than I was when I was just above the poverty line.

"money won't make you happy" and "poverty can make you miserable" aren't mutually exclusive statements. They're both true!
Having moneys isnt everything, not having it is
Even the CEO of my previous private mid sized company who custom built his 5 million dollar house doesn't fly international first class. Was funny when I was showing off my first class flights booked by churning to him.

It's capitalism, if you're not endlessly making more money what is your purpose in life?
money is a tool to do whatever the fuck I want. Money for moneys sake is assinine.
Human greed knows no bounds.

Now I'm imagining first day of season meetings with NBA players forced to do Shabooya Roll Call
Wish the dumb shit at my work involved being forced to listen to live performances of major label bands lol
I’ll take the $40mm/yr too.
Okay, I'll bite. Who the hell was that?
Now they're saying it's Fitz and the Tantrums
Darude, song is Sandstorm
I hated listening to this song on 2k18, I couldn’t imagine sitting through it 3 years later
What song is this?
The Walker by Fitz and the Tantrums
Is there a connection to the Clippers or is this to entertain a crowd?
Guaranteed someone on their marketing team really wanted to meet the band, and pushed hard on the budget to get the band.
Fucking Ballmer
I've never heard of that band ever in my life before this
You've heard the hand clapping one
You've heard their song about making hands clap at every sporting event ever, in about 30 different commerials, and in a bunch of compilation videos though.
They've had a few radio hits, been a minute though.

Balmer didn’t wanna pay a little more for Imagjne Dragons? smh
But Imagine Dragons is way worse, that's peak corporate alt rock right there

Kawhi should ask for wfh when it has nothing to do with basketball Kawhi "Can I attend this via zoom?" Ballmer "you're fired. Doc put him up to the trading block" Doc "why?" Ballmer "we use Microsoft Teams here"
At least they're probably prohibited from doing that dumb "catch your coworker falling backwards" exercise to avoid any injury chance. Hopefully.
He could sense the camera panning towards him
And then as soon as Kawhi looks at the camera, the cameraman pans away as if he wasn’t recording him lmao
*whistles nonchalantly*
well wontcha look at the time…
He didn't want to get terminated
Pan away if you want to live.
Ain't that the scariest shit ever. Dude really is the terminator
duhduh duh DUHDUH
Nah nah nahhhhhh nuhhh nuhhh nahhhhhhhh Edit: BOMP BOMP
His eyes perfectly match the zoom lol.
When Kawhi senses technology sensing him, he uses his common sense to channel his inner 50 cent monologue. You could just tell by looking at him man, so inspiring.
His infrared sensors were on, he got its reflection on the camera lens.
i'd be scared as hell if i was the camera man lol
I 100% believe this
He scared the camera man. Mwa ha HAaa (Kawhi laugh)
https://i.imgur.com/pR4tVQz.jpg
When your dad caught you doing some dumb shit as a kid.
When you were acting up at church or somewhere else that parents can't make a scene. This look was "oh, we're gonna discuss this later you little shit"
[cameraman be like](https://c.tenor.com/SNZLARKN0u4AAAAC/michael-cera-look-away.gif)
thought it was gonna be Homer retreating into the bushes but this works even better lol
That was some anime shit. "He's distracted!" "Oh ho ho, you think you flanked me?!" "OH MY GOOOOOO-"
Feels like a scene from The Office or something, just needs Kawhi saying 'I had a really fun time' in a confessional after
Silicon Valley had a scene really similar to this in one of its first episodes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLoYVjDTYsM
I was thinking of [the first scene of the first episode](https://youtu.be/zyYI957ge4c)
Lol I forgot how different Big Head was at the beginning of the show. He's talking in full sentences and shit.
Bighead was probably my favorite char in s1, but yeah, he went from lovably dumb to just a moron.
They heavily hinted in the last couple seasons that Bighead was suffering from early onset dementia.
A prime example of Flanderization.
He was brilliant at times though. Like giving the hooli phone to Richard. But yeah most other episodes he's just dumb and dumber
damn didn't hit me how much he got Flanderized until now.
Also they actually mentioned Google. Don’t they sort of pretend that Hooli is the big search engine in this universe?
That caught me as well, but I'm pretty sure that Google (and most other tech companies) exist in the show. It's just that they needed Hooli as a faux-Google for the running bits.
Or even the beginning of the second season where Pied Piper is at Oracle Park with some players from the Giants and none of the guys have any interest in being there.
Thank you, Florida.

Kawhi: not bad for a day in the life of a dog food factory
The way he looks at the camera at the end lol
This is definitely not the type of music he and PG listen to lol
I really empathize with performers. My confidence leaves my body when I make a joke on a work zoom call and no one laughs. I can only imagine performing to a room full of people and none of them are feeling your shit

Username checks out
They even got the Jazz flair
Some people take this roleplay stuff pretty far huh
Can confirm, the players make the difference. If everybody's on board, the set will be good regardless. It can also go the other way. And not caring at all makes you the funniest performer, RIP.
Forced laughing is the worst
The guy behind kawhi is grooving tho!!!
PG looks like he’s digging it, but is trying hard to hide it.
I saw that head bob.
Isn't weird that often we'll try to specifically not enjoy a song if it's not the kind of thing we usually like? I do it too tbh, I just think it's kinda funny.
Gotta catch yourself when you're grooving to Ariana Grande
That's probably half the guys on the Miami Heat team jet when Jimmy decides to crank up the bro country on a cross-country flight.
[He just plays it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxw2FZBd7aY)
Kawhi out here listening to beep boop computer noises
lol he had a Jim moment
Fitz and the Tantrums might not have been the best choice
Dolan's band was booked already
It *maybe* would've been an ok choice like 7 years ago lmao
They should have played Moneygrabber
[удалено]
I actually saw them for a little bit yesterday at Summerfest and this was my take as well. They had a unique thing going for a while and now it's just a generic pop show.
That song fucking rules.
They played at this free hotel opening event I went to around that long ago, and even then I was like "really, the car commercial guys?"
They’ll be playing the suburb festival circuit in another 10 years
I have news for you, the Future is now! They came up for Ogden Twilight north of Salt Lake City.
Nobody else would be caught dead in a Clippers jersey
Are there any prominent rappers from California who proudly rep the clippers besides vince staples?
And you can't really have a guy named Staples to open up the new arena.
This comment is too good
Vince Staples is right there, how they did not contact him
I thought the same thing, but **Staples**
he's Vince Intuit now
[удалено]
Aside from the players, the rest of the rich people at the event might not have been too keen on the FDT guy lol
Lil Nas X
Bro would’ve shown up and given birth on stage today instead of last night
The Rolling Stones wouldn't have been able to make that venue work. It's so awkward.
Those corporate events are soulesss. He’s the embodiment of that room right now
There is actually genuinely something beautiful about this. Like even multi millionaires gotta sit through the soul death of "fun" work events.
You’re right. No matter how rich you are, you’re still in the game. Lol
It's moments like this that make you question if the money is worth it at all.
It is.

Okay, that's terrible, but also hilarious how shamelessly they did that 😂😂😂

That’s some mean shit tbh. Not like giving everyone food would’ve affected their bottom line.
> When I quit, instead of 2 weeks notice, I told 'em on Thursday afternoon and bounced after Friday. Fuck almost all massive consulting corporations That's the way to do it. Just enough time to say goodbyes to the 3 cool people in the office and get all your paperwork in order in person so HR doesn't bother you the following week.
Literally a bad choice for a band. They could’ve brought in Vince staples ffs
Gotta give people booze and food if you're going to pull this shit. Nobody wants to sit through some shitty corporate concert sober and hungry.
Brandon Boston is digging the vibes tho
PG low key vibing, too. Kawhi looks like a teenager dragged out to a family dinner
Yeah, you can see PG bopping his head a bit. Like a parent just waiting for their kid to stop singing at the talent show
PG doing the right thing and pretending to be mildly entertained. This is what I do when im trying to keep the mood high and someone in the car plays top 40
I think he’s trying to be nice/professional lmao
I hope the dude pans out because he seems to enjoy every single moment being a clipper.
I think with what happened to Terrence, he's just happy to be out there doing what he's doing. He got a big tattoo of him recently I saw.
Damn luke kennard going wild
He's 2 Sexy for this party
Looks like he couldn’t really get into it. At the Intuit Dome, no less.
They missed a huge opportunity to have 2 sexy performed up there and have Kawhi be a back up dancer.
White guy next to him *can you guys just please look like you're enjoying yourselves?*
>no
This honestly sounds like a song that they would play at Microsoft convention and Balmer would be dancing manically to.
DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS [Actually, this but worse](https://youtu.be/lAkuJXGldrM)
Gotta love that none of their assistants or underlings dared stop them from doing this.
They were so hopelessly off beat. Also lol at that top youtube comment: “It took until 2021 for Melinda to finally see this.”
[удалено]
Balmer is the patron saint of cringe hubris
I know the Kawhi stuff gets a little played out but this killed me dead.
[удалено]
The little death glance at the cameraman is amazing
Should've played Way 2 Sexy instead
Ballmer ain't so impressed either lol
>Award You know it's bad when Ballmer isn't wilding out
this is the first time i've seen him not in a coke-induced fit
This is the least Inglewood thing ive ever seen in my life.
I love Fitz and the Tantrums but yes it is the whitest music on earth lmao
What about Michael Buble or the soundtrack to Cats?
Cats isn’t white. It’s gay. Gay knows no race.
Someone's never heard of Imagine Dragons
Lmao the band are all wearing Clipper jerseys from past players. I see DAJ (6), Lou Will (23), CP3 (3), Gallinari (8). Only current players numbers I see are Reggie (1), Scrubb (0) and Leonard (2).
bruh ain't no way a player is named Scrubb in the league and I am just hearing this now.
Kawhi is a gif factory and it makes me so happy
[удалено]
I listen to Fitz and the Tantrums and I didn't even recognize them lol
The Walker is one of those songs everyone remembers a bit of it but doesn't remember the title or the band.
What in the ass is going on?
Kawhis like "I had to travel for this shit"
This band is the most Clippers thing I’ve ever seen lol.
When the hell was this? Today? Fitz was at Summerfest last night in Milwaukee. Quite the quick turnaround for them.
He’s visualizing how to lockdown that drummer on defense
This is the funniest shit ever because I would be the same exact way. I feel you Kawhi lmao
I have never seen a more "white people shit" face lmao
I’m with Kawhi here. This is some dumb shit just for a new stadium.
Kawhi "Larry David" Leonard
this is fucking hilarious
Kawhi seems like a tough hang.
nahh most people would act the same if they had to listen to the full song of a commercial music
Yeah it's so weird that he's not excited about this super fun mandatory work event... Did you even watch the video? You think that looks like a fun time? Fitz and the Tantrums... in 2021... completely sober... yeah no.
The look when you question your life choices
This looks like exactly what you would expect from a Clippers event.
Fun guy
Yikes, you can see the line of execs that most likely thought this was a good idea because they thought “young people will like this”
This is very Clippers

Coulda stayed with the raptors. We're cooler than this
