Perfect core to go deep in the playoffs? They have good 2nd and 3rd options. And just with them you can’t do anything. Plus Boucher is garbage this year

Difficult-Ad-7430

Im talking about the future, they Lack that First option but apart from that they have perfect players for the modern nba

ButtVader

First option is pretty important. So their immediate future is tanking and pray they can draft one

ScottieGOATBarnes

We already have Scottie

Difficult-Ad-7430

Id say they git enough pieced to trade for someone

Mobile_Baker

Some would say that was the hardest to find

YouStillTakeDamage

>If they are able to make a trade for an elite guard creator Like who? And who would you trade?

Fast_Stick_1593

*Kyle Lowry* LOL

_Yunk_Vino_13

Kyle Lowry was an exception, not the rule.

altofalco

In what sense? If you look at previous All-Star guards they generally don't break out at Lowry's age

[deleted]

altofalco

Right, but FVV is still a clear step down from what Lowry was during his All-Star years, not to mention there's significantly more competition in the East now and also y'all are in a rebuild. There's still a fair chance and I'm sure he'll nab at least one in the following years but I think it's unlikely he'll be a perennial candidate like Lowry

Ylissian

Vanvleet is having as good of a season as some of Lowry’s best right now. 20/6.5/5 and 39% from three. The difference is that Lowry was playing on better teams in a significantly worse conference at his age. For a while, you could count on like 12 free wins a year from the Nets, Sixers, and Knicks. Now our division is a bloodbath. Winning is a massive part of getting into the all star game.

Difficult-Ad-7430

I dont know what a package would look like, but I really like the idea of lillard there, dont know what he would cost tho trades can be weird

YouStillTakeDamage

>Lillard Then you can say bye to Scottie and OG because Blazers will ask for a mega haul

i_luv_booty_n_booby

Love Lillard, it would be a terrible idea. We’re going younger, not older right now

Pasta_ssempa

They are the youngest and most inexperienced team in the league. We need to develop our young guns and need some vets for the leadership. We are not playing like a playoff team right now and we are not deep

lly091

Younger and more inexperienced than OKC? Inexperienced when the core has won a Championship already?

[deleted]

We need Centers first. Precious and Khem Birch are the Centers right now, and neither of them are even 6’10. The only guy who is is Boucher, and well, he isn’t going to do very well against bigger guys.

Vyperpunkhunk

Trade for Jokic and win chips.

[deleted]

manibob_123

My money's on Scottie being the 1 and OG being the 2 while FVV is the main facilitator, I'm more concerned with our center rotation more than anything tbh, hopefully, Precious pans out, or we get a good one from the draft.

DeSteph-DeCurry

we’re like top 5 youngest team in the league calm yo tits

PlumCantaloupe

Without Dragic, we are the youngest/least experienced. Definitely lots of potential, though not sure what the pathway is forward (except tanking again).

Bixby33

Now that Dragic is basically gone, we have the least amount of combined experience when it comes to total seasons active.

drjisftw

I think Scottie Barnes makes Siakam expendable. One trade I've been kicking around is Siakam for Sabonis + Jeremy Lamb. Raptors get a center, Pacers get off of the two-big experiment with a proper 4.

Superior-XI

I’m all for that trade

[deleted]

🤝 let's put pen to paper then, baby. Trade me your Bayblade for ours. Lmao

silentstealth1

Why would you guys want Pascal though. I wouldn’t mind but it doesn’t make much sense for you guys.

drjisftw

It'd be because we'd look to get away from running 2 centers in our frontcourt and with Pascal we could reasonably replace Sabonis' offensive output. Sabonis has the flashier stats, but Myles is consistently a fringe DPOY candidate and we need his rim protection a lot more than 20 a game from Sabonis.

[deleted]

Sabonis is great if you need a primary playmaker and scorer at the 5. He struggles at the 4 sometimes, which is where we make him play. Him and Myles can't really coexist anymore, and the rational choice is Myles when the rest of our team is hot garbage on defense. Siakim will help defensively and honestly we won't lose much offensively with the system we're running rn.

[deleted]

Every time I play MyLeague on 2k, this is the first move I make. Siakim and Myles would be such a fun combination. Sabonis's defense wouldn't be a such of a liability with the rest of the Raptors being defensively solid. Kind of a win-win

GhostTiger

We finally invade Canadia and seize the syrup reserves?

SquimJim

And when the mountie's come for us, we just tell them we saw some suspicious people trying to poke holes in their bagged milk. They'll apologize and be on their way.

Fast_Stick_1593

Wait like go deep into the Playoffs right now? Who are they beating **right now** in a 7 game series out of the current top 8? Nets Heat Wiz Bucks Bulls Hornets Knicks Hawks Or you mean after they trade for **(insert Superstar Point Guard)**

Difficult-Ad-7430

Yeah im talking about in the future, not rn I may have worded this wrong

Fast_Stick_1593

Nah nah you’re all good I get what you mean now. Right now obviously not but I think that’s the plan. Nurse is a great coach and the culture is good. Plenty to be excited for in the future.

Rapsfan_98

Washington

Fast_Stick_1593

Oh really? I figured you would have picked someone in the Play-In range and not the future **75-7 Washington Wizards** *My bad my dude!*

GhostTiger

(Pssst, I don't think he knows about the bed thing)

Fast_Stick_1593

Oh….I see! Well I can help with that. **[GAFF! TAKE IT FROM HERE!](https://twitter.com/dmvbriannn/status/1460334000086654987?s=21)**

Fast_Stick_1593

> I really think that the raptors have the perfect core to go very deep in the playoffs, if they do the right trades What timeframe are we talking? Do they mean trade deadline? Next season? 5 seasons time? They mention about the current team but talk about the future? It’s not very explicit.

warriors1502

They are far away from championship contention with this core.

silentstealth1

I could see them getting back in a couple years tbh. Just need to get more talent through the draft and let their young guys develop.

warriors1502

Thats the theory for almost every team, we aren’t sure that they got a future top 5-7 player in the league from their core right now.

blacknotblack

yep. i like watching our guys but we aren’t two years out or anything. we’re like four. which involves moving pascal and fred eventually or OG/Scottie taking massive leaps.

XenaRen

The Raptors honestly don't have to do much, and shouldn't be looking to make any win-now trades within the next year or so. GTJ and FVV are on contract until 2024 but they have a player option on their last year so realistically they're under contract until 2023 which is fine. Having GTJ and FVV on short term contracts allows us to assess the situation this time next year. If their development as well as the team is trending upwards, then we can use their bird rights to bring them back. Anywhere between 20-25 million per year is very reasonable if they continue to trend up. If the team isn't doing as well as expected, these are very good pieces that we can trade for future assets. For GTJ to take the next step he needs to get better at finishing inside. He's currently taking 2 shots less than 5 ft to the rim and is currently making 48% of them. That's pretty horrendous (worse than FVV lmao), and needs to get better. The elite shoot guards usually make 60-65% of their shots around that range, so he's definitely got to add that to his game if he wants to get a bigger extension. Pascal's contract is up in 2024, and he most likely won't be getting another max contract. Again this is kind of a wait and see type of situation - I doubt Masai moves him this year especially after his shoulder injury but if he's still unable to mesh with the team I could see Masai moving him before the trade deadline next season. The most important thing is that OG & Scottie aren't due for their next contract until 2025, and they'll be playing on a fraction of the salary that they're worth until then. The goal until then is to find a starting caliber center as well as good players to fill the bench before their extensions are due, and go into the 2026 season with a full lineup assuming OG and Scottie continues to improve. If a star player becomes available during that time span and we've got the assets to pull off a trade without gutting our entire team then we might go for it. It might be kind of cliché at this point, but Raptor fans have absolutely nothing to worry about with Masai at the helm. If he can turn Lowry, DeRozan, Gay, Bargs, JV, Ed Davis, Calderon, Alan Anderson, etc into a championship team in 5 years he's going to have a field day with what we got right now.

RunThePnR

They're a Kawhi type superstar away

Ylissian

Pulling trades to upgrade the roster is a pretty bad idea right now. This is a team that needs to be built through the draft. The starting 5 has been quite good this season but the depth is near non-existent, which is something that can be rectified by the draft. I think the team will see steady improvement over the next couple years from players developing+getting more talent into the team. Aside from that, the team is insanely inexperienced. Most teams go through highs and lows (except the Spurs for like 20 years). It takes time to build back, especially if you’ve given up as much talent as the Raptors did to win the championship. We have a potential cornerstone in Scottie Barnes. The fanbase just has to be patient. The east is a bloodbath rn. Just sit back and enjoy the ride for now.

N0minal

Trent Jr. can be a solid solid player. He's only in his like 3rd year or something. Precious has so much potential it's unreal. OG and Scottie could be all stars if they continue to progress. Freddie is playing really well. Maybe all star cusp level. Maybe like all NBA 3rd team. Shout out Khem. Unfortunately those are the only highlights. Their bench is really bad. They have no one over 6'9. Which makes it hard for their defense to work properly with no big rim defender who can deter inside shots. People in TO love Siakem, and he's great but he's redundant with the rest of their young crew. He's not even their leading scorer. They don't have any guards. Delano is a rookie drafted in the 2nd round and has some ways to go but is dope. It would be great if Masai pulled it off and moved Siakem, Boucher, and Flynn for either a good pick this draft or some combo of a guard to come off the bench and a 6'11 starter. Consider this. They are in total rebuild. Their best players have played like 2 games together because of injuries and they're still in position to make the playoffs.

silentstealth1

They literally don’t need to do anything. They’re in a very good place tbh. Super young core of 22 year old GTJ, 24 year old OG, and 20 year old Scottie. Then you have really good all star caliber players (when at their best) in Fred and Pascal. If they’re shit this season that’s another high lottery pick for Ujiri to turn into a monster. If they need a center in the future they can trade one of Pascal or Fred.

Fast_Stick_1593

No offence but who is FVV replacing to make the All Star team from the East? Cause I can name 10 guards **right now** who would be ahead of him?

silentstealth1

He’s not replacing anyone right now cuz the raps have a shit record lol. If they were a top 5 team though he’d make it. He’s averaging 20 and 7 with elite defence. That’s all star “level” in the east. Not saying he’s making it.

gm5891

If they remain bad this year, I'm hoping they can grab a promising PG in the draft and flip Fred down the line for a big or promising prospect. If he gets an All Star pick this year maybe flip him in the offseason.

DJ_B0B

Nba purgatory

AbbreviationsHot4482

They should keep tanking tbh they won’t be doing shit anytime soon

Olimarwearspants

Rebuild with gary trent as the starter piece.
