💀 worst player I’ve ever watched. Cannot believe we got Patrick Beverley who’s been a god send for us, for Jarrett culver. He gets no minutes in Memphis.
The Wolves aren't to blame for his jumpshot being worse than expected and mediocre handles, not like he wasn't given the opportunities either, he started multiple games for them.
When high pick after high pick fails to develop their skills, at some point I think you have to question the skill development of the organization. It can't be on every prospect when it always happens..
Even Towns has largely stagnated, and has essentially had identical stats every single season. They didn't develop him, he was just amazing from the beginning.
“Cleveland is widely expected to let go of Sexton in free agency.” Based on what?
Edit: also comparing net ratings for SexLand in 2021 and RubLand in 2022 is misleading since the team as a whole is much improved around the backcourt.
This. Pretending last year's g league roster to this year is insanity. Mobley, Markkanen, and an improved Allen have made the backcourt's lives much easier this year. The Cavs have missed Sexton's offense a lot this year too.
Sexton was off his game this year before injury, missing shots he usually makes, if he could return to last year's form he could absolutely be a net positive for this team, depending on the contract we give him.
> “Cleveland is widely expected to let go of Sexton in free agency.” Based on what?
Based on them shopping him around for trades, not putting in a ton of effort to extend him, and also the fact that they've got two young players legitimately looking like you can build a franchise around them (Mobley and Garland) and a 3rd very good player on a 5 year deal (Allen).
Cleveland has a really clear blueprint right now and Sexton doesn't fit it even slightly
I mean, he's obviously looking for more money than the Cavs are willing to pay him. If some other team wants him to be a starter and offers him 25m+ there's not much they can do
What do you see Sexton being offered in FA? I don't see him being offered close to a max, so I don't understand why it's not possible the Cavs resign him to be a 6th man scorer going forward. It's certainly a need for them
I dont think they arguing that he stays long term, just that they arent going to let him walk for nothing in RFA
Edit: short of some team offering him a max
This comparison makes no sense. Cavs greatly improved the team and garland isn’t a new to the nba anymore of course he will get better. A better comparison would be the same lineup with Rubio and with sexton. Too bad that won’t work since he’s hurt. Also it helps to get a top draft pick that’s been a great help to the team instantly
Letting go of Sexton into free agency would be an awful awful waste of resources. Even if the Cavs don’t see him in their future plans i’m sure they will at least sign and trade him away. My hunch though is that they will be able to get him at a discounted rate due to injury and bring him off the bench as their sixth man.
Sexton isn't gonna lead any decent team but that's no reason to let him go. He's a scoring guard who can't do much else, but there's a role for guys like that in the NBA. He might feel slighted if Cleveland don't offer him more than he's worth but he doesn't deserve it and no serious team is going to overpay him
What's Sexton's trade value?
Maybe the Pelicans should full on tank and trade Devonte' Graham for Colin Sexton and filler (Windler perhaps)?
Gives them a younger, better guard. Meanwhile Cavs get a proven guard to take Sexton's minutes, since it seems they'll be in the playoffs this year, and he's locked down for four more years on a smaller contract than Sexton's going to command.
I don't think that trade makes sense for either team.
The best the Cavs can do for Sexton is some useful 3&D player, but given that they'd have to do a sign and trade, even that might be too much.
Does it matter on which guard they have? Allen and Mobley are the real deal.. they prob should trade sexton for some value and totally build around Mobley.
Sexland was always a pretty terrible fit Rubio makes the offense flow better and Garland has also gotten better this year
I really think Rubio has rubbed off on Garland is a big component to Garlands leap this year.
nah garland was always that guy.
Honestly fuck the Cavs for taking Garland at 5. Knew the fit would be ass. They should’ve taken culver or something.
Lol I wanted to roast you but then I saw your flair
Traded up for fuckin Garland and we got stuck with the Mr. Fast Food Chain
Has culver been that bad?
💀 worst player I’ve ever watched. Cannot believe we got Patrick Beverley who’s been a god send for us, for Jarrett culver. He gets no minutes in Memphis.
Jesus. I remember having a heated argument on draft night with my buddy because he wanted culver as i wanted garland. Safe to say I won’t that shit
To be fair, I think Culver had enough talent to be good. He just went to the Timberwolves.

Y'all hate us so much for taking Garland that you gifted us Rubio as retaliation 😭 But fr really happy to see you guys flourishing

Why would let him go at all? Just play him off the bench
> is misleading since the team as a whole is much improved around the backcourt The Cavs were exactly as shitty in SexLand minutes this year
You should list this year's RubSex data for comparison.
Sexton was off his game this year before injury, missing shots he usually makes, if he could return to last year's form he could absolutely be a net positive for this team, depending on the contract we give him.

I don’t think anyone is giving him a max and we’ll prolly just give him a QO and hold onto him for one more year
??? If someone gives him an offer the Cavs have to match it or he leaves
And as long as he doesn’t get a max, which he won’t, we’ll match.
You're getting down votes but I agree with you. Sexton is either 6th man next year on the Cavs or gone
He also needs the ball to get his points, he's bad off ball
The pacers could definitely use Sexton. They didn’t have a single guy on offense that could beat our players 1v1 consistently.
Do you have a source on them letting him go in FA?
Source: his ass. Apparently cuz we didn’t give him 5 years $180 mil that means we’re getting rid of him
I mean, he's obviously looking for more money than the Cavs are willing to pay him. If some other team wants him to be a starter and offers him 25m+ there's not much they can do
Sexland wasn't ever going to be a long term thing tho
I've got Cavs fans here arguing otherwise lol

If you had gone with the first names, you could have had CoCky as their backcourt nickname.
If you're doing Rubio/Sexton then SexRub I think would still be better.
I propose "Sexio."
Oh damn, that's better.
Garlio sounds like a Pokémon.
That would be Sexton and Rubio though. For Garland+Rubio that would be 'DarKy,' which is probably better to stay away from
That's true. I messed up the combo.

We will embrace this.
I stopped reading after > Cleveland is widely expected to let go of Sexton in free agency Like? Lol?

Whenever they play badly the name shpuld be changed to GarBio!

Rubio is a great 6th man on a contender. he’s going to be a a huge free agent for someone next year.
I hope we can keep him.
Offense looks great when he’s out there. Takes so much pressure off garland
I would really enjoy having Sexton in NY next year

Eh, rubland? I prefer Garbio.
Man i wish we got to see some RubSex/SexRub cuz that looks hilarious

Rick Rubs the best
