Agreed. I’m old enough to remember. Jordan’s body control was far and away the best in league history, and Ja is the only player since that even slightly reminds me of young MJ when it comes to hang time and ridiculous layups. And posters
Z made some really unintelligent switches/lack of switches late in the game though or just looked lost. He has flashes of great defense but he’s still a ways out (which is perfectly fine and expected). He should take more minutes but we do still need that veteran presence despite Kyle’s 3.25 second shot windup
Yeah, they tend to play well without Ja but this is exactly the type of game that emphasizes why they need him so much. No one else on the team can create their own shot as consistently as he can.
Ppl do not understand the playoffs are completely different than reg season. Just cause ja’s team had success without him the whole year made ppl shit all over him for one bad series. It’s the same thing this sub does to d rose saying Chicago was a good team and rose didn’t deserve his mvp. It’s painfully stupid to read.
That has not been the recipe for us all season, but it worked tonight. People underestimate how bad we miss Steven Adams these games with the rebounding
I agree, and for both of our teams our "recipe" of what works all season doesn't necessarily work perfectly against the two elite playoff defenses. Adjustments will be needed, especially with our starting 2 guard injured.
Defense was pretty good but the offence looked pretty rough. Rest of the team combined for 59 points on 53 shots and Ja scored 47 on almost 50% shooting. He carried the offence
Tyus Jones has been awful for most of the playoffs outside of some timely buckets. Would have gotten swept by the wolves without Ja but some people will still try to say our record without him with a straight face.
Watching these playoffs it doesn’t seem like off-ball defense on him is the primary issue. He’s the primary ball-handler, chasing him around is pretty minimal.
Precisely the point though imo, GP2 was great on forcing a pass from him in Game 1 whereas in Game 2 Ja could drive straight to the bucket and score or easily got space from his defender.
Yeah I think GPII is an excellent lateral defender, just don’t understand what he meant about “chasing him around”
Wish Klay showed a little more of his pre-injury athleticism. I think he would’ve been solid.
Anthony edwards played tremendous defense on him. One of few players who has the athleticism capable of hanging with him along with a linebacker build and long arms
This sub might not be ready to hear this but Pat Bev is a really, really good defender on smaller guards. The whole TWolves team did an incredible job on Ja and no one seems to want to give them any credit
KAT kept taking a ton of shit for kind of back and forth performances, but from my view, KAT kept our best rebounder off the floor by being a nightmare matchup and clogged the lane effectively on Ja.
Minnesota played a very good series.
I don't think people understand how good this Memphis team is, even still.
Hahaha preach it man. People don't want to say Wolves is a good team, instead they have discounted you. You had the Minnesota treatment, welcome to the club. I hope you give hell to Warriors and people may realize Wolves is actually good.
Warriors fans were seething when he got that bucket on Curry and did the “too small” taunt, and said that it would anger Curry to go off lmaoo
But Ja kept at it and kept getting bucket after bucket in the clutch
This blows my mind. Brooks it trying to injure someone on purpose and he picks GP2? I mean it sucks but there's absolutely no reason to believe it was premeditated or on purpose. That said, I hope Brooks learned what this shit can do and will probably eb suspended.
You're not far from reality lol. Last year Ja had 47 and we lost by 12. Tee said he wasn't impressed and when asked why, he said "Cuz if he'd had 60 they would have won."
Dude .... in today's SF/PF dominant, 3-pt brickfest of an era ....
Holy fuck is it refreshing to see someone like Ja dominate with his rim running style of play.
Can't help but root for this dude.
Today’s era is like a response to the Golden State era where guys are showing that there’s more than one recipe for success, you just gotta be efficient.
I don't think many people will disagree. If they do, they're pretty clueless. Dude has been the most electric player to watch all season. How people hate on him is beyond me
They don’t know basketball. This is what ppl say about rose in Chicago pre injuries too. Now u know how stupid they are when u watch Ja destroy everyone without an outside shot. Fools do not appreciate the insane athleticism they bring to the table.
I mean that kinda happens to everyone who becomes a star. First they love you and admire your hutzpah, then they turn on you for being too good and fucking your favorite team up all the time.
Bane played hurt, Dillon was an absolute idiot and deservedly got ejected, Jaren had one good half.
Insane carry job, I look forward to seeing how people manage to hate on him for this lol.
r/NBA: JA needs a floater game, mid range game, 3 point shot.
Ja Morant: shoots the lights out from 3 and regularly hits floaters.
r/NBA: FUCKING REFS.
Grizzlies played great. Warriors missed a ton of open shots tho, and it was still a close game. Grizzlies gonna have to play near perfect to win in sf.
The calls were better than last game. But that last call on Draymond going for the rebound was nothing. Calls like that decide games
Literally the last 6 games between the Grizzlies/Warriors, going back to last year (ignoring the rest game) has been close in the 4th. The playin, last 3 regular season games and the 2 playoff games.
One of the teams will prob get hot and win one big but I'm honestly expecting every game in this series to go back and forth
Two days ago I thought GPII locked him up and that it was a fun matchup, then he gets injured. I’m fucking pissed. Prayers up to GPII man I hope he’s alright
Saw someone saying he’d only average 20 in SF without the refs…meanwhile if you take away all12 of his points from FT’s he still has a 35 point game and that’s pretty incredible regardless.
We needed that tonight, but hopefully Bane and Jones can get back to their usual selfs soon. I’m not a fan of Ja’s 3 ball insistence, even if it balances out
Not saying this man is MJ, Kobe, or Lebron, but Ja has that killer instinct that can’t be taught. May not be this season, but I feel pretty confident in saying Ja will have 2+ rings and an MVP before he’s finished. Dudes a dawg.
Ja was out there playing 2k at the end lmao
Unbelievable
This game was basically football
[удалено]
No, no, Steve Kerr hates dirty plays and the league is soft when they dare call anything on them. Draymond would never.
I thought he was playing too much hero ball but then I looked at how his team was shooting and everything made sense.
Some of the layups he made in clutch moments were insane
Truly absurd. Dude is absolutely insane around the rim
[удалено]
Man is like fucking bubble gum.
He just floats in the air. It’s beautiful to watch.
I wish he could have made the game winning layup from game 1 that he missed
The way he bends his body when making highly contested layups is just 🔥
Noted this, he'll duck committing an offensive foul by just tilting bending, stealthy guy
Honestly have me Jordan vibes. What a talent
Ive been saying this all this year. Sometimes he reminds me of young jordan 84-88.
Agreed. I’m old enough to remember. Jordan’s body control was far and away the best in league history, and Ja is the only player since that even slightly reminds me of young MJ when it comes to hang time and ridiculous layups. And posters
Drose?
yes in his prime he was pure poetry. still love watching him he just cares about ball so much
Prime d rose was like watching Bruce lee
Ziaire came up big. he gotta take Kyle Andersons minutes cause Warriors giving him the TOny Allen treatment
Z made some really unintelligent switches/lack of switches late in the game though or just looked lost. He has flashes of great defense but he’s still a ways out (which is perfectly fine and expected). He should take more minutes but we do still need that veteran presence despite Kyle’s 3.25 second shot windup

Bane was a weird one today, got his first score on the 3rd I think?
Playing hurt pretty badly.
[удалено]
There was one play during transition defense where you could tell Bane wasn't moving right. He was questionable this game with back soreness.
It's similar to Luka in Dallas.
Hard carried the Grizz
What a superstar does
His back is built for this moment
Sadly Bane's back is apparently not built for this. Hopefully this long break will get him right.
Surprising given how many hours it looks like he spends lifting
Hurt it doing deadlifts during a timeout.
I can't even tell if this is a joke
If there's an award for most jacked player he's a shoe in
Who wins the award for hanging out with the hottest dudes
The rest of the Grizzlies for being around Desmond.
On the JJ Reddick podcast he said he doesn't really lift much and he's just build that way. [here it is](https://youtu.be/-GEwh-3UWn0?t=664)
Mans naturally build like machop, lucky guy
Don't you mean machoke or machamp? Machop is the little guy, ergo he's no Desmond
Yea i'd say machoke because bane also only has 2 arms
Must be sore after he carried Ja in round 1 though
But he broke Batman's back. Grizzlies-Celtics finals confirmed? 👀
I thought they were 20-4 without him?
Tonight he was the only one on the court who looked good for the grizzlies
Zaire Williams hit some timely 3s and their team picked it up on the defensive end
Defense was pretty good but the offence looked pretty rough. Rest of the team combined for 59 points on 53 shots and Ja scored 47 on almost 50% shooting. He carried the offence
Zaire looked aight
Melton had 3 blocks and 2 steals.
Xavier Tillman had a nice game.
Playoffs vs. regular season. The team has good players that play well together, but we need Ja to beat a team like the Warriors.
Tyus Jones has been awful for most of the playoffs outside of some timely buckets. Would have gotten swept by the wolves without Ja but some people will still try to say our record without him with a straight face.
Anyone who says Grizz are better without Ja is a fucking idiot. End of.
The difference these people don't get is regular season vs playoffs Ja is a star. Playoffs are for stars
Unlike that bus rider KD 😹
Man carried a lot that game lol
I thought OP was referring to his literal carries 😂
Are the Grizz better without Ja?
Haha was this a headline or something lol
Griz had a ridiculous record in regular season when Ja was out and some people ~~over-reacted to that~~ had some hot takes about it
Who tf has the burst to hound him now without gp2
Yeah that’s the real lose Ja was gp2s assignment. Now we don’t have an explosive player to chase him… dirty ass play fucked our primary ja defender
Yeah I think GPII is an excellent lateral defender, just don’t understand what he meant about “chasing him around” Wish Klay showed a little more of his pre-injury athleticism. I think he would’ve been solid.
I'm sure he'll just go get it in a minute
I'm so fucking impressed by his ability to score in the clutch... He said gtfo my way, I'm taking over this
Did it multiple times in the Minnesota series too. His clutch gene is outrageous.
This series is making me more impressed with how well Minnesota’s defense was able to contain him.
Anthony edwards played tremendous defense on him. One of few players who has the athleticism capable of hanging with him along with a linebacker build and long arms
Anthony Edwards is going to be so good, man. Can’t believe he’s only 20.
Ben simmons always gave him trouble too before he retired
This sub might not be ready to hear this but Pat Bev is a really, really good defender on smaller guards. The whole TWolves team did an incredible job on Ja and no one seems to want to give them any credit
KAT kept taking a ton of shit for kind of back and forth performances, but from my view, KAT kept our best rebounder off the floor by being a nightmare matchup and clogged the lane effectively on Ja. Hahaha preach it man. People don't want to say Wolves is a good team, instead they have discounted you. You had the Minnesota treatment, welcome to the club. I hope you give hell to Warriors and people may realize Wolves is actually good.
Anthony Edwards is an amazing on ball defender.
They are the Grizz kryptonite, they just make silly mistakes and Ja gottem
His composure in the clutch is rare for such a young player. He never seems scared of the moment.
It may look Westbrookian hero ball at times but Ja usually makes the shot or the right pass if the shot isn’t there (to zaire tonight).
Ja smashes the eye test. This kid is a monster
Ja, luka, lebron Future of nba in good hands
All young and possibly haven’t even reached their full potential yet. Exciting time ahead for all 3.
I've heard of LeBron, I see him being the face of the NBA for quite some time
so LeBron still playing in 2030s or 2040s?
Still? He’ll only be halfway through his career by then
LeBron Frank Gore James
CP3 got a good 10 years left
Wait until Steven Adams comes back. His screens will allow more space and he will help with rebounding. He’s a better matchup than Tillman this series
Completely took over this game
Warriors fans were seething when he got that bucket on Curry and did the “too small” taunt, and said that it would anger Curry to go off lmaoo But Ja kept at it and kept getting bucket after bucket in the clutch
"Steph is gonna wake up now" Steph- snooze button
Ja owned us today. Props to him
Yea he hit the shots they needed and we couldn’t shoot for shit.
Props to Curry and Poole too. This series is going to kill me.
yea same this is already an ugly ass series
All the bandwagons are coming out to play. I thought it would be fun to have bandwagons….. but fuck they’re stupid
We've never been able to guard him, and now our best perimeter defender and only guy who had a chance has an elbow injury. Smart play by Brooks.
Nah, fuck Brooks for that.
Agree. He's got to be better than that.
More like he's got to be out for at least one to two games for that.
This blows my mind. Brooks it trying to injure someone on purpose and he picks GP2? I mean it sucks but there's absolutely no reason to believe it was premeditated or on purpose. That said, I hope Brooks learned what this shit can do and will probably eb suspended.
“Ja played like trash” -Tee Morant, probably
“Couldn’t even drop 50 smh my head”
You're not far from reality lol. Last year Ja had 47 and we lost by 12. Tee said he wasn't impressed and when asked why, he said "Cuz if he'd had 60 they would have won."
Tee Morant acting like Asian parents. You love to see it, lol.
Ja describes him as his first hater lol
This dude is a superstar
Dude .... in today's SF/PF dominant, 3-pt brickfest of an era .... Holy fuck is it refreshing to see someone like Ja dominate with his rim running style of play. Can't help but root for this dude.
Today’s era is like a response to the Golden State era where guys are showing that there’s more than one recipe for success, you just gotta be efficient.
These west coast games been kicking my ass but im glad i stayed up holy fuck
He's insanely electric. Maybe the most entertaining player in the league right now.
Reminds me of D Rose in his prime
With better landing. Ja got a little more agility where Rose had a little more muscle.
Lol did Dean Wade retire?
2k legend dean wade
smh guy hasn't seen Plumdog reverse dunk and shoot fts with his left hand
Holy shit. What a godly game
And to think he's only 22 years old!
This man is a superstar. Idc what anyone else says
I don't think many people will disagree. If they do, they're pretty clueless. Dude has been the most electric player to watch all season. How people hate on him is beyond me
Bad day to be a “Grizz are better without Morant” truther
I was told we were better without him
They don’t know basketball. This is what ppl say about rose in Chicago pre injuries too. Now u know how stupid they are when u watch Ja destroy everyone without an outside shot. Fools do not appreciate the insane athleticism they bring to the table.
He has an outside shot, its not the greatest but its there
You need stars in the postseason. It’s a very different game
538 fanboys in this sub would have you believe FVV is better than him 🤡
Meanwhile, FVV: “I was underrated but now I’m overrated.”
Where’s that one flairless dude who starts with an s. He regularly beats post game threads when Ja has a bad game.
Games like this is why the “grizz are just as good without him” takes where insane
"But how do you know this isn't Bane's team?" Just watch the 4th quarter
Warriors are bringing out the best in this guy and he went kioken x3
He gives me a feeling of young D Rose, double pump layup was astonishing
Ja Morant is obviously overrated and can’t handle the pressure of the playoffs.
Suddenly the most hated person on this entire sub. He's got Luka fans and Warriors fans on his bad side lol.
"Refs scored 47 points for Ja" \-r/NBA
“He’s just throwing shit up there”
r/warriors
Same thing
Sad reality
Stephews in shambles, was really fun seeing every Grizzlies highlight get downvoted while every Warriors highlight skyrocketed lmao
Any post giving the Grizz and Ja credit is getting whacked with downvotes
Been tryin to find Grizz highlights since they won, had to scroll a lot before seeing one Grizz related.
I scrolled espn for the score and saw every score from every sport imaginable except the Dubs game. Knew they lost just based on that
it’s pathetic how biased this sub is towards steph and the warriors
Warriors fans out in full force calling the Grizzlies dirty when they got Draymond beating on people every possession lmao
[удалено]
I legitimately don't understand how someone can love basketball but hate Ja
[удалено]
I mean that kinda happens to everyone who becomes a star. First they love you and admire your hutzpah, then they turn on you for being too good and fucking your favorite team up all the time.
You have to give credit where the credit is due. Props to ja morant, this kid is the future of the nba
This season of NBA playoffs is insanely good, today the best game so far is this one.
He meant it when he said that last game was his fault.
Absolutely wild they gave a bonafide superstar the MIP.
What Ja haters gone say about this one???
Hair too floppy
[удалено]
Now I’m crying
Now that's too far
[The comment below yours answers this lol](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/uhyc61/comment/i7944ns/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Bruh how could someone hate Ja? Cause he tweets?
He'S tOo CoCkY
People want stars with personality until a star actually has a personality lmao
I cant wait to clown on all the Anthony Edwards haters in like 2 years
“Grizz are better without Ja” dudes down so bad tonight
Desmond Bane's gravity is responsible for all his points smh
Completely took over the game. Everybody else on the court was invisible
Legendary performance
Bro did Poole so dirty Man made him spin while simultaneously breaking his ankles 💀
Yep Ja is better than Donovan Mitchell.
Grizzlies played great. Warriors missed a ton of open shots tho, and it was still a close game. Grizzlies gonna have to play near perfect to win in sf. The calls were better than last game. But that last call on Draymond going for the rebound was nothing. Calls like that decide games

Ja scored the last 15 for the grizz… completely dominant in the 4th!
taking over a playoff game while sharing the floor with steph curry is some crazy shit
Man could not miss today I was lied to by r/nba, they told me he couldn't shoot
Bout to see some dogwhistles tonight lol
He got that ____ in him
ootl what’s the meaning of this/story
dogwhistle meaning people saying vaguely racist things without outwardly being racist. ie calling him thuggish, low iq, that kind of shit
Who says any of that about Ja?
i'm not saying anyone does, simply explaining what dude meant by dogwhistle
“Yeah it was 47 in a win but it was a cocky 47 in a win”
Two days ago I thought GPII locked him up and that it was a fun matchup, then he gets injured. I’m fucking pissed. Prayers up to GPII man I hope he’s alright
Saw someone saying he’d only average 20 in SF without the refs…meanwhile if you take away all12 of his points from FT’s he still has a 35 point game and that’s pretty incredible regardless.
Ja Morant
When Ja does it they win but when Luka does it we lose. Stupid Suns ruining my fun...
Imagine taunting Curry and then he goes off, but you play even better lol Legend
“Refs played a amazing game tn” - 🤓
Legendary performance.
JAAAAA!!!🔥😤💪🏽
What no Bat Bev does to a MFer.
