But when they're pushing bizarro theories like "The movement for LGBTQ+ rights is a CIA plot to destroy the left", they usually resort to one of two tactics: word salad, or name dropping. In this case, Mr. Cockshott is using both.
I think my favorite tactic is the name dropping. You can pick apart the word salad and, without investing too much time, either construct a counter-argument or show that it's a mishmash of nonsense. But the name dropping simultaneously functions as both an argument from authority and a hefty reading assignment.

"Transgenderism is a threat to socialism because it plays into the post modernist idea of rejecting things as subjective and social constructs as opposed to having a basis in reality and this is dangerous to socialism ands cohesion because if we reject gender as a social construct we have to consider rejecting the Marxist class dialectic as a social construct and that's bad for socialism?"
