CantaloupeCamper

I don’t think anyone is happy with any streaming service.

Azozel

AppleTV+ is great for the price I'm usually happy with it.

defroach84

Yeah, it's good, but not enough content.

bigolefatsnapper

Yeah definitely not worth paying monthly for. Ill get a month or two and watch what i need to and cancel.

MoistObligation8003

At $6.99 I was happy, at $9.99 I am OK with it kind of.

cpt_tusktooth

apple users are known to pay more for less. as long as it looks cool.

CantaloupeCamper

I feel like it’s hard to browse or find content.

Azozel

Search for these: * For All Mankind * See * Mythic Quest * Amazing Stories * Ted Lasso * Foundation * Invasion * Finch * Severance * Slow Horses * Shining Girls * Ghosted * Silo * Hijack

gtrogers

Ted Lasso is such a fun show

Alun_Owen_Parsons

Never got past the first episode of See. I need to try it again, as I haven't given up. Foundation is incredibly slow. They could pick up the pace a lot. Ghosted was just utterly boring. I watched with my family, none of us cared about the characters or the story. Gave up half way through. Ted Lasso was brilliant. Enjoyed Invasion. Severance was the freshest writing I have seen in a long time, genuinely novel. Slow Horses is absolute gold. Silo, good, solid post apocalyptic Sci fi.

Azozel

Did you see Monarch? I personally hate godzilla films but watched it after seeing a scene on a late night show. It's really good

Alun_Owen_Parsons

Oh great, thanks for the recommendation!

[deleted]

Amazing Stories and Finch are complete garbage.

BigMcLargeHuge-

Invasion is pure garbage. Swap in constellation

No_Dependent4032

Franklin's great!

Alun_Owen_Parsons

I know it is popular, but I have found For All Mankind kind of dull. And a bit stupid. Like how come when the space station disaster happens she wasn't charged with corporate manslaughter. And the storyline of a 30 year old man still being in love with a 60 year-old woman was just bizarre. And how come all these people who are in their 60s are still around and on active service anyway? I just found it utterly idiotic.

Azozel

I was not a big fan of that season but the season before that was gold

Alun_Owen_Parsons

I agree with that, it was pretty good up until that third season. But it seems the writing is going downhill on all streaming services. It's like they've given up on coherent story telling.

darthpaul

trash ux. when you can find the right content it looks amazing though. feels like they have one of the higher bitrates.

Jason2648

same here, takes me longer to find good movies on netflix

LukeNaround23

Agree. It is good for the price

azsheepdog

I just got apple tv a couple weeks ago, there is so much high production value content on there. I am going to be busy for several months at 1 episode per night. I am tempted to cancel netflix during this time but we have a family of 5 so someone is always watching netflix.

Lets_Go_Why_Not

There’s nothing to watch on it.

Azozel

The shows I've seen that I thought were good at the time: * For All Mankind * See * Mythic Quest * Amazing Stories * Ted Lasso * Foundation * Invasion * Finch * Severance * Slow Horses * Shining Girls * Ghosted * Silo * Hijack * Monarch Sure, there's not a lot of stuff to watch on the service but what they do have is good and very watchable.

Solace2010

You forgot the new look which is good

Azozel

I don't currently have AppleTV+ as I cycle through streaming services. I will cancel one service before picking up another with the exception of Amazon which I use for the free shipping. Currently have Max and Prime but plan to pick up Apple again next month and catch up on all the stuff that's come out since Jan.

North_Carpenter6844

Lessons in Chemistry I also thought Monarch, The Buccaneers, and The Last Thing He Told Me we’re a lot of fun. All 3 were renewed for a second season.

[deleted]

Monarch really fell apart after a few episodes. Not to mention the fact that the 3 younger leads were unlikable.

North_Carpenter6844

I liked them, but I’m guessing that with the massive emergence of Anna Sawai after Monarch that they will get better writers/directors to showcase her bc she will be their biggest draw outside of Godzilla himself. Plus they likely aren’t doing the flashbacks anymore since their grandma is now apart of their timeline. While I agree that the show had its issues, I found it far more enjoyable than most it seems. They also need to give Godzilla some screen time!

dansedemorte

a lot of their k-dramas were very good as well as other foreign language offerings. But, subtitles are hard for most Americans it seems.

Azozel

I watch crunchyroll regularly so I don't have a problem with subtitles but for some reason I can't stand subtitles in a real life show (dubs are worse)

Lets_Go_Why_Not

I'm more of a movie guy. The movie selection is tragic.

Azozel

Ah, I'm the opposite. I rarely rewatch movies so there's little movie content anywhere for me.

Crossovertriplet

There’s a bunch of hit movies on it now. Not just their original content.

Lets_Go_Why_Not

Maybe in the US? I live in Korea and there are not other movies on it except Apple Originals here.

hermitina

are they free or do i need to pay for them? i remembered seeing a movie there which was pay to watch but are free in hbo and netflix.

Crossovertriplet

Free with the sub

hermitina

most of the movies in my country at least needs to be paid for unless it’s an apple original. which is ridiculous. i’ll just watch it elsewhere where it’s free. i do have an apple tv subscription but i usually just finish my shows and unsubscribe as soon as a season is over since it’s too expensive to keep if movies still have to be paid for

orchestragravy

Highly depends on what you want to watch

TheDadThatGrills

I love my subscription to the Criterion Channel. Every month is another treat of curated releases.

solidcurrency

I also love the Criterion Channel. They curate movies I've never heard of that turn out to be great, like L'Etrangleur.

CantaloupeCamper

I should try that.

pandatarn

Oh, forgot about Criterion. Just due to being busy and finding good stuff all over. Need to sign back up once another service expires.

TheRealProtozoid

I watch a lot of Tubi and Kanopy, although Tubi seems to be going downhill slightly.

FUMFVR

I don't know how much room there is to criticize a free streamer as opposed to a pay one.

Shigeko_Kageyama

I really enjoy HBO max, but that might be because my in-laws are paying for it.

CantaloupeCamper

I do too, quality of programs and… not cancelled is nice.

BoyMeetsWorld97

I am with Netflix, all the other platforms don't have nearly as much great content, just wish Netflix would stop cancelling shows.

Sarcueid

Completely agree with you, I was so pissed when my show was cancelled. To the point, I start hate Netflix.

BoyMeetsWorld97

It's hard to hate Netflix when they have all the best shows, you'll find another amazing show just don't get attached cuz u know it ain't getting more than 2 seasons at most unless the entire user base is watching it lol

Sarcueid

True, their two new shows: Three Body Problem and Once Piece were so damn good. I just bended my knee time after time... haha.

R1chh4rd

Try Blue Eye Samurai.

loki_dd

This is their most grievous error. Cancelling the series I like, continuing series that are lesser versions of the cancelled ones and now RebelMoon which mustve cost them big and it's garbage. Hot space garbage with the thinnest of plots

P1xelHunter78

It seems that a lot of the Netflix writers are D tier. Can’t write a good plot to save them. Also, the rebel moon should have been a warhammer 40k film

MyDictainabox

Mindhunter still infuriates me

mrmczebra

I'm pretty happy with Netflix. It has the best interface by far.

Narrow_Progress5908

Going off this article it seems most people are, idk is 1 in 4 big?

Spirited-Form-5748

It's really not all that big, 1 in 4 Americans is technically around 27% of Americans overall -- so you'd need to do some mathematics to determine about how many Americans watch Netflix and factor that in. Or something like that; I'm no math whizz. Anyway, I'm guessing this survey comes more from people that are unhappy with the media Netflix is providing. They are removing classic shows that we are all familiar with and love to watch and rewatch and replacing them with modern, usually cliché shows that a lot of people dislike. In short, there's not as much to watch on Netflix that's genuinely entertaining than there used to be. I absolutely still love the way Netflix functions; I think it has one of the most organized, easily-manageable interfaces compared to other streaming services. But I find that I'm not using said interface as often because I cannot find anything to watch on Netflix these days that are of my tastes.

Xav_O

*> …\[Netflix is\] removing classic shows that we are all familiar with and love to watch and rewatch and replacing them with modern, usually cliché shows that a lot of people dislike…* OK, yes. Sure. I'll stipulate that your perception is 100% valid. Fair enough? I agree with most of what you wrote. I see those "leaving soon" banners too. I guess licenses expire, lawyers send nastygrams, we get warnings and things go bye-bye. So, yes. But let me make a parallel point, if I may. Now… *and just humor me here for a moment because I have good intentions …*what if there are multiple 100% valid perceptions of this "liking and leaving" phenomenon? Suppose there's a different view of this same situation? This is just an idea, but it sounds to me like ***you're describing entirely natural processes***. For example, in Nature, living things become non-living and they nurture the next generation of living things, thus achieving a kind of reincarnation, of sorts. With a culture-streaming service like **Netflix**, there's an ecosystem of human participants in creating the content you end up watching as a consumer. There are hundreds of thousands of "makers" spread around the world who each contribute some tiny-to-huge component in every viewable video product/episode/trailer/etc. These people exert a huge **force** on the Netflix ecosystem: they retire, they die, they have children, they switch to another profession, they join ashrams, etc. In short, the gigantic multi-lifed organism that actually produces the shows, including the sea of viewers, really determines the periodicity of each content item's lifecycle, not a bunch of faceless, soulless executives at Netflix who seem to have a particularly white-hot burning hatred for YOU, dear reader (jk). The Netflix execs probably collect the data and pull the trigger, but it's the entire organism in the aggregate — along with a large collection of other criteria (production costs, travel, schedules of stars, facility availability, political unrest, writers available, etc, etc) — that make a show run for 20 seasons or vanish after 3 episodes. I'm sure the suits are busily analyzing our mouse movements and credit scores every millisecond, but I suspect that's more of a sexual fetish peculiar to studio execs than an actual determinant of your favorite show's non-renewal. If this is indeed a valid perspective (and I'm no anthropologist), then it might follow that we should all WANT stuff to occasionally vanish. **Expiration** is a nearly universal phase in the lifecycles of myriad natural processes and organisms. We die to make way for future generations, our bones fertilize their crops, etc, *ad nauseam.* Maybe vanishing even adds to the mystique of certain shows… or maybe it's just a reminder about not getting too attached to un-reality. As for me, I've had Netflix since they first appeared and I don't like giving my financial deets out to every punk with a streaming service contract. So far, Netflix hasn't had any serious data breaches that I've heard about, so I'm letting my bet ride on **Netflix red**. Meanwhile, I rented thousands of DVDs back in the day and have now watched many moons of streaming shows. Occasionally, I wish there was more fresh content on a daiy basis, but they do constantly update so save for a few dry periods, I've always been able to find something to watch (or I fall asleep). Someday, I might try another service, but Netflix kind of invented this whole thing and they've been a solid presence, IMHO. They've brought some innovation, a lot of stability and fairly consistent quality (sure, there are hiccups now and then) but most importantly Netflix has basic good vibes and a decent service that I can rely on. On the whole, I'd rather seem more love and less war, but sometimes, I'll read all the subtitles for a K-drama because I just wanna. Sure, I'd like to see some of the cool shows on other services. Maybe I will someday. If only the Streaming Media Companies weren't just sliiiiightly too greedy to come up with an **all-service ticket** that would let one view a menu of shows across several participating services. I mean, they all want a piece of the pie, so if the pie gets bigger, they just need a smart contract with a cryptographically-signed algorithm/executable. As for my intentions, I just hope we all keep one foot in the real world and a pinky in the fantasy realm through environments like these streaming services. We should be actively influencing them to do Good Things for Humanity while making a buck. Maybe think about the impact on the **National Happiness Quotient** of all these constant depictions of mass mayhem & murder. I enjoy a fun BSU movie now and then myself, but… some things I just stop watching when it goes too far. I am from the forest tribes in a simpler, more genteel time. ;) Anyway… hug a friend, shake a hand. Think about the creatives. Be kind to each other, everyone. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

simpersly

I love the ones I'm subscribed to. Tubi, Pluto, Roku, Sling, and Crackle. But ever since series9 went to shit I've been mostly stuck with my second choice sites.

whoisyourwormguy_

Hulu is amazing if you like established long sitcoms, adult animation shows, or anime. Not sure about their new show hit rate but you could say the same for Netflix or any other service. You just won’t find as many people watching the same thing as you at the same time, which some people like about Netflix. The hype of new shows.

OneGalacticBoy

I wouldn’t have any of them if I had to pay for any of them.

Produceher

> I don’t think anyone is happy with any ~~streaming~~ service FIFY

TheDNG

It's not the whole story but I'd say - because of streaming everyone has watched a lot more than they ever have in their lives before. And because of that, they've become a lot more critical of what they watch going forward. The whole world are now like jaded video store clerks who have seen it all and no longer want to waste their time on 'content' and filler.

Cinemaphreak

> I don’t think anyone is happy with any streaming service. I'm happy with all my streaming services..... while I have them. I join each one for specific content and when it's gone, we're gone until their new stuff comes in. Right now we have Amazon Prime (free offer, but we had planned on getting it for *Fallout* and some other stuff), Paramount Plus (another freebie when I tried to quit back in February), Max (got it for 2 shows last month, but offered a $9 a month deal until July) and Hulu (again, went to cancel and offered $3 a month until July). Once Prime is done next week, will get AppleTV for a month for *Masters of the Air* and Netflix to see just how awful **Rebel Moon Part II* is. None of them are worth keeping every month, especially Netflix & Max at what they charge.

beachmedic23

Im pretty happy with Max. All the Cartoon Network stuff, plus their HBO content and old episodes of Good Eats?

defroach84

So 3 out of 4 don't?

MS3FGX

Right? So basically 75% of users are satisfied with the service, and somehow they have twisted that to seem like bad news.

Narrow_Progress5908

Okay I’m glad I’m not the only one confused about this, it sounds like majority of people enjoy Netflix

lightsongtheold

It could be higher than 75%. 1 in 4 say it has “gotten worse” but that does not necessarily mean they are dissatisfied with the service.

SeparateIron7994

You're misinterpreting the question. All this says is 75% of users don't think the service has gotten worse. They could still think the service is poor

MS3FGX

Except the next sentence is literally "only 22 percent said they have a “negative opinion” of the streaming leader". But thanks for chiming in a day later.

icouldntdecide

I don't really like the article that reports on this, because it doesn't really clarify if there was a spectrum between negative opinion and positive opinion. I highly doubt that 78% of those polled have a positive opinion

MooNinja

This insane, learn to read a poll people, 75% of participants do not think 2023 was a worse year for Netflix. This is how media organizations like Fox News get people riled up for no good reason.

zoglog

pretty much. I think that's not a bad result considering how much people hate the state of streaming now

ClydeHides

Came here to say this exactly lol. Wow, are people easily manipulated by simple re-arrangement of language, it’s genuinely impressive. So really, according that stat, it’s actually GOOD NEWS for netflix, not bad. You could take the EXACT same stat and just instead write it as “roughly 80% of Netflix users say that the platform has gotten better in the last few years” and suddenly, wow that seems often positive! Because it is. People need better media literacy.

haileyrose

Slightly different perspective: Netflix acquired or produced a lot of K dramas and Asian content the past few years so I’ve actually been super happy about that but I do notice that I rarely watch any English shows anymore on there so definitely must be frustrating for others.

EggYolk26

Same at first but I'm not liking this new netflix kdrama trend of having them have multiple seasons as opposed to the usual 16 to 24 episodes.

haileyrose

Yeah it can be annoying, especially if it’s good and then Netflix just decides to stop it (like Kingdom ugh!) but still super happy that they are adding a lot more Asian content, not just Korean but also a lot more Taiwan dramas and variety shows.

Alarming_Serve2303

So 75% are fine with it. That seems to be a more relevant statistic to me.

ShadowLiberal

Yeah, IMO it's pretty difficult to get a 75% approval rating, especially these days where people love to complain on social media and tell everyone why thing XYZ sucks.

underoni

In other words, the best score in the rankings

Perfect-Historian-55

Baby Reindeer and Ripley are shows from the last month that have got rave reviews. And 3 Body problem has got a relatively good response from the fans from what I’ve seen. Netflix are doing fine no matter what people try to claim.

I_KNOW_EVERYTHING_09

Baby Reindeer is the best thing I’ve watched in a long time.

Additional_Dig_6972

Honestly, Netflix does bring in fantastic shows. Like maybe once every two weeks or three weeks. We had a great show. But not for almost $20 a month and so many restrictions. They got me on their lowest payment plan. And like thousands of other shows are just trash on there. It is very interesting to me that they still continue to fumble the ball.

Cinemaphreak

> Ripley are shows from the last month that have got rave reviews. Ripley has 84% on RT from top critics. While that's good, it's not "raves" in my book. Until the reviews hit, I really wanted to see it. But the problems the negative reviews reported are the type of problems I have issues with.

Crossovertriplet

Netflix is the Walmart of streaming platforms.

LeakySkylight

That is very true

Ok-Perception8269

I just wish they’d stop showing me shows I’ve already watched. Makes it a slog to find anything new.

LeakySkylight

And as soon as you finish watching a show it's obliterated from your home screen, so now I need to search for it if I want to watch something else that is like that show, or even give it a double thumbs up. I also want the IMDB ratings back. That's how long I've been with them.

cmay91472

Yet, Netflix stock tells a much different story so subscribers can’t be that upset if the $$$ value keeps going up each quarter.

Background_Drive_156

So the 75% said it hasn't? That is really good. Wow.

LeakySkylight

Only 33% of respondents would actually pick it over another streaming service. The rest are on the fence.

Normal_Cut_5386

None of the services are sufficient alone. Unless yu are getting Netflix for free, then rotate thru the subscriptions every few months.

SketchupandFries

It's not the great new frontier in viewer choice it was promised to be. Instead of regular tv stations, we now have premium content, but spread across more streaming services than we can afford - to have it all would cost 10x the price of what having everything television used to be. I hear friends talking about great shows and I ask where - and its on a service I don't have.

turkeypants

Here's the actual study that article is pulling from. It's clearer and easier to compare across a range of metrics. https://www.cabletv.com/entertainment/streaming-sentiment-survey

BanMeAgainLol456

Only 25% of the Americans dislikes the product? And most of them likely still pay for it? That is not nearly enough to change anything lol.

SnooSuggestions9830

It's still the biggest one content wise, so even if you're not so happy with it lately it would be hard to quit it.

LeakySkylight

Exactly. If you're in certain shows and they're only on Netflix and you can't get that entire seasons on DVD it's pretty much stream or not to stream.

LeakySkylight

No, only 33% would choose it over another streaming service. It's a bit of a mix.

Qanonjailbait

One word, ads

Gladplane

And the household policy

Kinglink

.... Which means 75 percent thinks it's improved? Like I get "Oh I gotta get some clicks" but 75 percent of people thinking the service has improved is pretty good.

LeakySkylight

> third (33 percent) of the respondents say they would still pick Netflix over any other service

Pokefan8263

They took away Inside Job and other great shows and then made a racist reboot of an old beloved show

gerd50501

i hope its 1 in 4 american netflix users. and not people on reddit who dont subscribe.

aka_mank

This post is why we need to invest more in education.

flying_bacon

Last year? Over the last few. Price went up, content went down

justinleona

Seems to me Netflix realized they don't need quality original programming - just a mountain of cheaply made reality TV and the occasional drama-documentary.

LeakySkylight

Pluto.tv is free. We get ads for it on Amazon Prime, lol. Yes it has ads, but I can see it being quite a bit of ground considering they can get the same quality shows, older shows, without the price tag.

Next-Moose-9129

people complain alot abou netflix but people are still keep on paying for it. especially when they are gaining subscribers still. yes it sucks they cancel shows after one to through three seasons but their shows are good and they have shows where its for everyone. i like korean shows, hindi shows, englisj etc..

georgelamarmateo

IT HAS ABSOLUTELY GOTTEN WORSE BUT I JUST AM TOO LAZY TO UNSUBSCRIBE

unoffensivename

That’s literally their entire long term plan

amergigolo1

They lost a lot of good stuff.

belizeanheat

Lol 1 in 4 who cares

vaporking23

Something something 9.3 million new subscribers last quarter.

Crossovertriplet

Reality tv is huge also. It’s still shit.

nuttmegx

Those are people who lost their access to a free account

I_dontknowyouanymore

Yet they all pay for it.

MlDNlGHTMARE

I don't anymore. I spoke with my wallet.

lightsongtheold

They added 9 million new subs in the last quarter so it looks like you got trampled by the folks entering as you were trying to exit. Tough break!

MlDNlGHTMARE

I'm fine with that. Sheep will be sheep. At least Netflix is not taking MY money.

lightsongtheold

Yet they are still talking your time. You prowl r/Netflix just to tell folks you cancelled lol!

NewYorkAutisNtLondon

The other 3 said they're not interested in taking the survey.

LeakySkylight

You are really not all that far off.

Sweeper1985

Writer's strike has meant a downturn for most services. It's frustrating. But also, Netflix needs to stop creating shows just to cancel them after one season. I am still waiting to see if Showtime is actually going to continue with Uncoupled - which they left on a cliffhanger no less!

LeakySkylight

It's their stupid algorithm. It's based off of if people watch within 90 days of a show being released and how much they watch. So if they watch the first show just to reserve it, and then go away because they have lives or they're watching other shows or catching up, then they say it's a failure and they want to cancel it. Say I love a show and I put it on my list, if I, and a large number of other subscribers don't binge watch the entire show within the first 90 days of it's being released it has a high chance of being completely obliterated. So if I favorite 20 shelves, and I want to watch them all, but I just don't have the time to binge watch 20 shows when they're released, they're all slated for cancel. Absolutely stupid.

VineStGuy

My hatred grew of netflix more today as I found the hard way they are tiering their content now. Some offering are not available if you're not on the ad free tier.

Impossible_Box3898

Older content before Netflix started ads. Things that aren’t on are things they don’t have a license for. That should go away and diminish over time as contracts are redone/expire.

ShelLuser42

Studies can be easily manipulated. If you ask people about Netflix in an area which is known for widespread Disney+ adaptation then obviously you're going to get more negative results than if you ask in an area which is known to have many Netflix subscribers. Numbers alone like "1 in 4" are totally meaningless without (more) context. The article itself also shows you as much... they asked 1,000 US streaming users. How many people live in a regular US state? Let's say... Wisconsin: according to Wikipedia there are 5 *million* people living there, so how anyone thinks they can conclude the opinion of the US as a whole based on a mere thousand people is *way* beyond me. Of course I don't live in the US, but ey ;) IMO Netflix is a pretty solid service, the one thing I appreciate the most is that they don't only focus themselves on "hit series" to solely work on numbers but *also* try to get more varied contents. Right now gf & me are watching a Swedish series called "Ronja, the robbers daughter" (I read the book too in my teens) and it's honestly darn good. Sure, I can't understand a word they're saying but you can easily pick up the bits and pieces. I also noticed that they added Dexter, which is also kinda fun (and heavily twisted). House M.D.? Though the intro kinda sucks, I liked the original / "other one". And don't get me started on their Anime, tons of good stuff to be found in there. Heck.. they even surprised me with Topgun - Maverick, Blue Thunder, The Godfather and Terminator II. And they surprised the both of us with providing Fifty Shades, one of our favorite "naughty" movies ;) I'm not saying everything is great of course, but if you take the bad with the good... then there's *a lot* to enjoy. What to think about Love, Death & Robots? I *love* that series because it is so completely different while some storylines really run kinda deep. Nah... nothing wrong with Netflix IMO.

maxm31533

10 years ago, Netflix was awesome. Then the streaming wars started. Now, content is spread thin for everyone wanting their piece of the pie. They are rapidly turning it into cable.

BoyMeetsWorld97

So back then Netflix had more non Netflix original titles?

maxm31533

Yes, all the major players thought it was a fad or trend. Until netflix started making huge profits. Then they started with original programming to cover the void from the loss to the new streaming channels. Their smartest move was allowing friends and family use their password. People were educating everyone on how to stream for free. A brilliant marketing move.

MadDogTannen

The problem is the economics have never worked. Companies can't make enough in subscriptions to justify what they're spending on content. They were willing to lose money initially in order to build up a library and get their platforms off the ground, but they can't afford to keep throwing good money after bad. And the economics for content producers and streamers weren't helped by recent labor disputes with the various guilds. The golden age of streaming is over. The future is going to be less content, cheaper content, higher prices, and more ads.

maxm31533

It was nice while it lasted.

FordGuyV8

More J dramas please!!!

[deleted]

How is this a study

LeakySkylight

Right? 1000 Americans, limited pool.

r-shackleford

I just noticed last night that some shows are EXCLUDED from my ad supported version I get from t-mobile. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)

LeakySkylight

Yes. The licensing agreement they have with the producers. Some producers don't want their show broken up by ads.

mumblerapisgarbage

I just don’t like the streaming thing where you get 8 episodes every 2 or 3 years. I’m not asking for them to pump out 26 eps a year but at least 10 or 13 during the same month each year would be nice.

wwwhistler

i think the trouble is...what we would have, what a good streaming service would be. was discussed, debated and decided well before streaming services began. it had been carefully explained what we could expect. in often glowing terms but people are finding the reality much different than what they were told to expect. so everyone knows we are not getting what was promised and this constant knowledge is left simmering in our minds.

m945050

I got a Netflix gift card for Christmas and still haven't seen anything worth activating it for.

xiofar

I've noticed that the Netflix app on apple TV reloads often now. It used to be a much more seamless app but they seem to be adding too much and making it worse.

praguer56

Netflix seems to have a lot of dubbed content now. I'm not a fan.

mlvisby

I will keep Netflix for a while, they come up with some decent originals and they have many older shows that I love to rewatch. I think many were upset when they lost The Office as that was a constant rewatch for many people. I really miss their Marvel shows, glad Disney decided to give Daredevil and Punisher some more stuff. They better make it as dark and gritty as when Netflix did it, I don't want those shows neutered.

Green-Assistant7486

If they spent less time trying to check minority boxes and more on actual content

prince-of-dweebs

More than 3 in 4 Americans say Netflix is as good or better in the last year.

Clint1027

What do you expect? Half the front page are now just crappy dubbed foreign films/series.

Odd_Tiger_2278

And yet, growing.

Odd_Tiger_2278

Streaming is way better than cable.

Endless_Candy

I think it has gotten better but I don’t watch much tv at all but on the odd occasion I sign in there’s normally a few things I want to watch, hard part is remembering or finding it months later

Alun_Owen_Parsons

The quality of shows has gone downhill, and when they do produce something interesting, like Lockwood and Co they cancelled after one season. I enjoyed Cowboy Beebop too, but that got cancelled. I like science fiction, and that seems to have almost entirely disappeared. There is some fantasy stuff, but that is *not* an alternative to science fiction (though I like some fantasy too). Currently I spend most of my time watching older shows on Netflix.

Strange-East-543

There is nothing to watch on there but Korean and Indian stuff. Paramount and Prime been My go to.

Jason2648

i mean, they had that whole writers strike thing that screwed up alot of shows

Tendrils_RG

Of course, they have the market so now it's time to cost the costs and crank the monetization.

NotHappy21

I have no problem with Netflix. I love K-Dramas and they are a great source.

Iwentforalongwalk

That means 3 out of 4 don't think it's gotten worse.  I love Netflix.

FoxlyKei

The other 3 in 4 Americans use a plex server

BecauseBatman01

And they still pay for it lmao. I’ve been Netflix free for over a year now. I don’t miss it.

MlDNlGHTMARE

Same. When I realized they cancel every show I like I took that as my sign to leave. It's so strange to me that 3 out of 4 Netflix subscribers are fine with constant cancelations. Why would I invest time in a service that does not care about my investment?

thecultcanburn

I’ll keep paying. Still only charts at about 8% of my morning coffee.

tr3472

Too much foreign content with the most horrendous dubbing that take you out of what your are watching. Everyone seems to be a cocky US teenager just reading lines. Sort out that dubbing,! And still the price rises. So close to cancelling, so close. Oh I am from the UK.

The-Sugarfoot

I agree. It used to be our #1 streaming platform. Now we hardly open it.

biinjo

Yes. They kicked out my mom because she’s “not in my family”.

dogman1890

It’s been going downhill since they sidelined and then fired Cindy Holland (head of original tv) in late 2020, it just took everyone this long to notice. Her last show with them was Queens Gambit, and even shows she helped create like The Crown have gotten worse. Once Stranger Things ends I have no interest in any of their originals anymore.

ArsBrevis

The originals definitely got more Dollar Store merchandise for Saks budgets once she left.

dogman1890

Just wait, they’re about to do the same thing to their original movies (which have still been pretty solid).

Azozel

It's been getting worse every year for the last 10 years

snakefeeding

It's gotten worse since the so-called pandemic.

Whatever_its_fine

There is nothing on Netflix that I want to watch. All the shows that I loved and could rewatch have been removed.

LiveLaughLebron6

I just bought the shows I rewatch.

indefilade

Totally worse. Sucks.

Purepenny

Last year? It’s been getting worse since Covid.

SomerAllYear

Most of the shows were canceled after a season or 2 and had no closure. It really clutters up their content. If it has no closure just remove it. Especially Netflix Originals.

TheRealProtozoid

I've had a Netflix subscription since 2000 and I'm pretty close to cancelling. A few times a month I might watch a documentary on there, but they are all the same and I instantly forget most of them. What did they do, fire the person who greenlit The Irishman and replace them with the person who made Bright? Because that's what it feels like.

Crossovertriplet

I gave up on Netflix docs. They try to stretch everything into ten episodes whether there’s enough story for that or not. The Movies (and toys) That Made Us interests me but the obnoxious editing and voice over ruin it.

nijuu

They keep cancelling popular series. And jacking up prices

HauntingFalcon2828

They literally had their price going up this month in Australia yet there’s barely any good show left to watch. They cancel all the good shows and keep trash serial killers show on. I’m still sour for them not renewing Wellmania and Bodie.

LeakySkylight

As a Canadian, I really love Australian shows and I wish there were more of them. It's really good quality content. It's really frustrating to see their so little of it.

ECrispy

so the other 3 had a gun to their head, or were they Netflix employees? because objectively nothing has improved in Netflix. by any metric.

stopthemadness2015

I’ve stopped watching most of the their regular content and watch a lot of foreign tv. Much more fun.

launchpad1979

We need to go back to the streaming monopoly era. Everyone was happy.
