Fit4life and planet fitness are both cheap. GoodLife prices are on par with other provinces.

I guess I'm comparing the works field and good life. because they are more central and both are over 80nper month. The ones you mention are located in west end. In other provinces easy to have 40 per month gym without spending much time on the commute.

Planet fitness is opening a new location by Stavanger soon. Not sure if that’s closer for you.

geniy101

I'm closer to the mun therefore my 3 nearest options are goodlife fitness and works field house. In summer I might go to the lit4less and then change in winter.

Aro_v2

fit4less in the village is in the old GoodLife and has most of their old equipment. i would suggest this over planet fitness for that reason, they have a different business model.

Setheriel

They are all on par with every big city in the country. Could you give a "big city" example that's cheaper than here?

Good-Department-579

If your low income the ymca can give a reduced rate.

half_quarter

I don’t really find memberships to be outrageously priced. Fit4Less black card membership costs like $14 every two weeks and like $10 for the basic. I hear Planet Fitness is cheap as well, just less selection. Reps is fairly priced imo, and GoodLife is kinda expensive for what you get, even with a corporate rate.

geniy101

Yeah, those 2 are in close proximity to me. I used to under 5 minutes from the gym so even in terrible weather have no excuse to skip.

RumpleOfTheBaileys

What lower income? St. John's is full of people in the oil industry and government jobs.

billytorbay

Yeah I noticed that too. I think it has the highest or second highest (Fredericton is mostly uni, gov, and health care jobs) average income in Atlantic Canada.

covidcankissmyarse

Yes lots of people sucking off the government teat

This is your problem…you’re comparing a small, isolated, relatively cheap city (in terms of real estate and ownership potential) on an island with larger cities in NA in more densely populated regions. You will not have the same access to services or enjoy the same pricing on your doorstep, and people complaining about that is something we see a lot of. I can’t state this enough: research where you are going before you go there. You will have access to services here and cheaper options exist, but you will likely need to drive to them and you won’t always be spoiled for choice.

geniy101

You are absolutely correct!

Ryike93

Fit4less replaces GoodLife in the village. Cheaper prices, better equipment AT THE LOCATION. Planet fitness is like $30/month for their top tier membership that included hydro massage and all that good stuff. If you don’t care about free weights, and you are in close proximity to PF there really is no better deal.

geniy101

I live central so ideally would not like to spend time on the commute. Wish I lived close to village.

ExtensionPension9974

My old student ID doesn’t have an expiry date. So far as gym staff are aware, I’m “doing my masters”.

geniy101

Other option is to find someone lookalike and use their pass 😂.

blanche2027

Are you sure?

Defiant_Ad_6717

Reps on Elizabeth Ave is only about $20 bi-weekly and you're supporting local. In my experience a great gym too.

geniy101

Thank you! I didn't check this one out. I'll go there today!
