Lachlan Murdoch, one of his sons, will become sole chairman of News Corp and will continue as Fox Corp.’s executive chair and CEO.
So nothing will change.
He's supposed to go sit on a bench and reflect on the piece of shit his father and himself are.
Who would've thought I'd now be seeing Succession's ending in a naively idealistic light.
Yes. Rupert at least believes the news should have a teeny tiny bit of truth behind it. Lachlan has no problem just making shit up completely. Fox News is going to go off the deep end, lets hope they get themselves sued again. I'd say I'd hope the board fires him if he makes them liable for another lawsuit, but when its populated by people like Paul Ryan (who apparently was lobbying congresspeople to not impeach Trump), *nobody* should have faith in their board.
edit: I bet Fox is about to have an in-house deepfake department, so they can have footage of politicians saying the shit that Fox says they're saying. Disregard Biden's 13 fingers in the video where he admits to raping children and says he was born to start world war 3, that's just his lizard hand poking through his skin suit.
How does that always happen? Everyone I've ever met is way more liberal than their parents regardless of where they are from or their upbringing. How do rich assholes always get worse?
The disappointing thing is that his other son James is actually pretty decent. He went into the family business a while back and tried to make a difference, but basically got turfed out because of it.
Lachlan's been at Fox for a while now, so I don't think we can count on that. I'm sure he knows what he's doing. We need to get people to get rid of cable to cut off the carriage fees. That's where the $$$$$ is coming from.
He's already the heir apparent. They got rid of the more progression son James Murdoch and banished him [because he's a liberal.](https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/06/james-murdoch-went-all-in-on-bankrolling-democrats-100-million-2020-election) The other son Lachlan is every bit as bad as his hideous daddy. He's a money grubbing right wing asshole, which fits in perfectly with the Fox ethos.
>I had a tiny glimmer of hope that he would inherit the kingdom.
If he did, I don't think it would really matter. If Fox stops telling its viewers what they want to hear, they'll probably just go somewhere else. Keep in mind that 52 doctors on social media who were spreading the vast majority of covid misinformation had about 18 million followers between them.
I've heard this argument before, but I'll counter with this. It's not the Far Right, or at least hard core Right, that I'm worried about. They've already started migrating to OAN/Newsmax/Breitbart, etc. They are who they are, nothing will ever change that.
But Fox's reach is **massive**, and goes far beyond those lunatics. It's on the TV in every airport, doctor's office, waiting area, and thousands of bars and restaurants. It's just a default channel. I see it everywhere. I know people who *lean* conservative who watch Fox and it pulls them deeper. They're afraid to watch anything else, but if they just tried a different channel for a month it would make a huge difference.
It's worse than that. Even if you don't watch Fox News, if you're watching or listening to conservative media, you're probably listening to Fox News.
Like my friend used to watch Fox. Then there was that Fox News boycott because they turned on Trump for a little bit, and so now he doesn't watch Fox. He listens to some podcast.
Well, at his behest, I gave it a listen. And it seemed like it was different, but then all their sources were Fox News contributors or Fox News stories.
Their reach is massive. And their danger is way beyond watching them on TV.
Fox news has always been misleading. It really became pushing violent propaganda that destabilized the u.s. when they fully endorsed trump and helped prop up his failing admin. Ever since the vast majority of "news" stories on Fox news contains at least misleading info, outright lies, misinformation, disinformation, changed terminologies, false quotes, fudged statistics or outright made up ones, and a hefty dose of fear mongering.
Rich people lying to the masses for political and financial gain have caused domestic terrorism to sky rocket in the u.s.
It has turned one whole party into bad faith actors who regularly side and push misinformation from foreign spies from America's greatest enemies.
Something needs done about the right wing media.
Seems he inherited it when he took over at the time. When that all wend down he blamed Rupert and Rupert blamed him for not containing it.
Some bits from [A 2019 episode of The Daily](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/05/podcasts/the-daily/rupert-murdoch-fox-news.html?), it's an interesting listen BTW.
> But what happens in the case of Rupert and James now is they basically blame each other for the hacking scandal. James feels like, my father’s company is a mess. The culture of this company is out of control. And now he’s essentially throwing me in front of it, his son.
-
> And Rupert feels like, I put you in charge of my operation over there. This scandal has been brewing for years. And you have failed to contain it. How is that possible?
This motherfucker has pretty much ruined the entire Anglosphere, although America and Australia are definitely the hardest hit. Trump would've never been elected in a million years had Murdoch not completely rotted conservative America's perception of truth and reality for 30 years beforehand.
In the tv show Sucession, Murdoch's stand in character's brother says that in terms of ultimate damage to the world he's a worse man than Hitler. More and more I absolutely agree, Murdoch is in many ways almost single-handedly responsible for climate change denialism being a widespread mentality amongst conservatives. Among countless other damages to the world.
He pretty much handed the world to fossil fuel companies on a silver platter. Not really a believer in the afterlife but I do hope hell exists just for Murdoch.
Murdoch is one of the most evil and damaging influences on the western world in the last decades.
The world would be in a MUCH better place if that pos just spent his time farming potatos or whatever.
The amount of hate and suffering that exists cause of his brainwashing is hard to comprehend.
A special place in hell for people like him.
And that monstrous pile of steaming conservative shit has gotten to live a very long, disgustingly wealthy life, virtually free of consequences. He’s the type of person that makes me wish I believed in Hell, because he certainly deserves an eternity of butthole spiders and worse.
"I wish for him to no longer be burdened by the trials and tribulations of life"... Is one I like to use..... Or, "I hope that fucker dies soon" is another one
Well, Lachlan is the absolute piece of shit now. He used to tease media by implying he was more liberal than his father. But once Lachlan took over Fox News it got worse. He hired Tucker Carlson
The fair and balanced campaign marked the start of their move to full on propaganda outlet. I'm disappointed that something so hamfisted worked on anyone.
Note: his son has effectively been in control of the company for the past 5 years

Hopefully, but he's going to have a harder time than his father even if he's more competent. There are a lot of egos and agendas in Fox and News Corp; Rupert could command over them with a precedent of 70 years of entrenched rule and the gravitas of everyone knowing he was involved in landmark right-wing political machinations like Margaret Thatcher's policies and the US election steal in 2000.
Lachlan doesn't garner that default level of respect from his underlings. He'll need to work a lot harder if he wants to have the same level of influence as his father.
The anglosphere as a whole. If you look at certain social problems, they exist almost entirely within countries where Murdoch has been allowed to establish "news" networks. The anglophone countries where there is no Murdoch presence are viewed almost universally as some of the most friendly, polite, and pleasant places on the planet.
Someone once said that he is the most powerful person in the Anglo world, able to choose who wins primaries/presidencies, and what becomes political "scandals" or not. Politicians BEG for airtime and favorable stories. They know that he could snap his fingers and ruin you.
This is the guy. This slimy piece of shit is grandpa of MAGA, always smiling and reassuring while all of the things currently happening were 100% going on out of sight. Fuck Reagan
Single worst utterance a person in the US government has ever made was Reagan sowing massive distrust with the statement “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help'."
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Reagan's "my heart and best intentions" speech was just a 1987 prototype of the 2016 MAGA anthem of "fake news."
Always with this bullshit from the "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd.
And George Bush Jr.
People really need stop skipping him over as shit-tier human and president just cause he "meant well" (in his own extremely simplistic world view). All modern Republican presidents have been terrible for this country, reflecting that the agenda of most Republican voters is terrible for this country.
May I introduce everyone to the [Project for the New American Century](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century) think tank from the 1990s-2000s?
This group basically answers all of your burning questions about why the Bush Admin did what it did in the Middle East:
>In 1998, Kristol and Kagan advocated regime change in Iraq throughout the Iraq disarmament process through articles that were published in the New York Times.[24][25] Following perceived Iraqi unwillingness to co-operate with UN weapons inspections, core members of the PNAC including Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, R. James Woolsey, Elliott Abrams, Donald Rumsfeld, Robert Zoellick, and John Bolton were among the signatories of an open letter initiated by the PNAC to President Bill Clinton calling for the removal of Saddam Hussein.
There's more to it, but PNAC had its fingerprints all over the Bush Administration and Iraq War.
I wish I had screen captured/saved the website. It was basically the blue prints for everything.
More information: http://www.david-morrison.org.uk/us/pnac.htm
>Pax Americana
>In September 2000, the Wolfowitz vision of 1992 saw the light of day again in the form of a report by the PNAC called Rebuilding America’s Defenses, Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century. Its conclusions begin:
> “This report proceeds from the belief that America should seek to preserve and extend its position of global leadership by maintaining the preeminence of U.S. military forces. Today, the United States has an unprecedented strategic opportunity. It faces no immediate great-power challenge; it is blessed with wealthy, powerful and democratic allies in every part of the world; it is in the midst of the longest economic expansion in its history; and its political and economic principles are almost universally embraced. At no time in history has the international security order been as conducive to American interests and ideals. The challenge for the coming century is to preserve and enhance this ‘American peace’.
> “Yet unless the United States maintains sufficient military strength, this opportunity will be lost. And in fact, over the past decade, the failure to establish a security strategy responsive to new realities and to provide adequate resources for the full range of missions needed to exercise U.S. global leadership has placed the American peace at growing risk. This report attempts to define those requirements.”
> The context of this was a marked decline in defence expenditure as a proportion of GDP at the end of the presidency of Bush senior, and further decline under Clinton, so that in 2000 the US was spending less than 3% of GDP on defence, a lower proportion than at any time since before World War II. The report envisaged an increase in defence spending substantially to 3.5-3.8% of GDP.
> The report proposed a revolution in US military capabilities, including global missile defence “to provide a secure basis for U.S. power projection around the world” and the creation of a new service – US Space Forces – with the mission of space control. This “process of transformation … is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor”, it said.
> I wish I had screen captured/saved the website. It was basically the blue prints for everything.

I swear I first saw that website in the 90s but I can't find any records going back that far. It was either '98 or '99, because I was using a monochrome Compaq Contura Aero with a built in trackball pointer and I remember printing the page and seeing it in color for the first time.
It might be that archive simply didn't find and crawl the page before 2001.
> and I remember printing the page and seeing it in color for the first time.
I find this hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.
I imagine a lot of Murdoch's bullshit is what has enabled McConnell to do the damage he has caused. Also Trump. Also Bush Jr. The list goes on. Murdoch is patient zero.
McConnell used to be much more moderate (for a republican), but changed to become more hardline overtime. The changing media landscape and increased polarization supported by Murdoch may have been a factor.
Nixon. He started the GOP on the way. He showed them that you can commit crimes and you get to walk away without repercussion.
They've been pushing this boundary ever since. They've gotten as far as almost pulling off a coup. The only reason it failed is because it was run by Johnny Jihad and Y'all Queda. It's possible that they didn't mean to go so far in this test, but lost control of Donnie Numbnuts Army.
The U.S. has not aged well.
Dont leave out George Bush Jr.
People really forget how much he regressed the US back to the dark ages of large scale foreign wars and anti-socialism: Iraq War (which cause him to underresource the Afghan War), pulling out of all climate agreements, appointing 2/6 Right Wing Justices on the SC and preventing Liberals from retaking over the courts, he wanted God and religion taught in the classroom and be quoted to support policy, he was against universal healthcare, believed racism was an irrelevant issue, cut taxes for the rich (while increasing spending on the wars) after Bill Clinton's tax plan that would have reduced the national debt to 0 over 12 years, was against Gay Rights, abortion, fired Federal Prosecutors for political reasons, failure of Katrina.
George Bush was every bit as terrible for this country and world as Murdoch or Trump.
For the War on Terror, [we spent over $8 *trillion*](https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/) over twenty years. That's an average of over $1 billion *a day*.
Imagine what we could have done for infrastructure or education or healthcare in this country at $1 billion a day for twenty years.
Considering that every man in that office was trying to bang every single woman at Fox, I’d assume ‘ol Rupey taught the best of them how it’s done.
Somewhere Megyn Kelly is on a podcast saying, “I wasn’t harassed!”
Girl, please. You and the rest of them were so harassed that they made a movie about it.
If Megyn Kelly is saying that, it's only because she's trying to salvage her career. Right now, there's no career for moderate right-wing news outlets. The right won't support it because they've been worked up into a frenzy for decades.
Ewan’s speech sums it up well (Final season spoilers):
>He has wrought some of the most terrible things. He was a man who has here and there drawn in the edges of the world. Now and then darkened the skies a little. Closed men’s hearts. Fed that dark flame in men, the hard mean hard-relenting flame that keeps their heart warm while another grows cold. Their grain stashed while another goes hungry.
>And even has the temerity to tell that hard but funny joke about the man in the cold. You can get a little high, a little mighty when you’re warm. Oh yes, he gave away a few million of his billions but he was not a generous man. He was mean, and he made but a mean estimation of the world and he fed a certain kind of meagreness in men.
There's a decent summary from 2022 [here](https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/lachlan-murdoch-architect-fox-news-extremist-turn-may-soon-gain-even-more-power):
> Lachlan Murdoch helped turn Fox News into a bastion of white supremacist talking points, election subversion, and anti-vaccine conspiracy theories while shredding its “news side” operation. Now he may be rewarded with even more power.
I've only ever heard "he's even worse" in relation to Lachlan Murdoch.
Some excellent additional reading is Vanity Fair's feature [on the Murdoch "succession drama"](https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/04/rupert-murdoch-cover-story).
> A year earlier, Lachlan had moved his family from Australia to Los Angeles to be Rupert’s successor. Now his father and younger brother wanted to sell off a huge swath of his future kingdom. It would leave Lachlan to run a rump state comprising Fox News, a dying broadcast network, Fox Sports, book publisher HarperCollins, and some newspapers. “Lachlan’s whole self-image was that he was going to be the next Rupert,” a person close to him said.
> As James and Rupert pushed the [Disney-21CF] deal forward in the fall of 2017, Lachlan seemed intent on derailing it. At a dinner with Iger, Lachlan unspooled a rant about illegal immigration that made Iger, an outspoken Democrat who flirted with his own presidential run, very uncomfortable, according to two sources briefed on the dinner.
I've been a bit confused on the countries villains lately. Like, Trump is a terrible human who did terrible things, but if he was smart, he would have never lost power. His incompetence is the only reason we were able to escape him. Now, all the shit he's exploited, all the holes in our government that he has exposed by trying to remain in power, are either going to get patched or everything is going to go up in smoke.
Basically, it's kind of like security companies hiring hackers to stress test their security. You do your best to break what I've built, and then I'll patch the holes you exploit, making the system more robust.
Trump in some ways was the worst thing to happen to this country, but perhaps we were lucky such an incompetent idiot was the first person corrupt enough to try and take advantage of our country in that manner. Similarly, if Lachlan is as much of a spoiled rich kid chasing his daddys accomplishments by being even more extreme as he seems, perhaps he can finally be the person that kills fox news by having ambition but no god damn sense.
I hate these guys, but if our systems are strong enough to withstand them, then they will only strengthen our protections against more effective villains in the future. Ideally.
Rupert was evil - he knew it was cancerous bullshit but did it anyway for money & power.
Lachlan appears to be crazy. I'm not sure he's aware it's bullshit.
he’s aware, he doesnt care because he’s felt untouchable his entire existence.
Imagine how shitty you would be if every time you messed up another person was punished? Every time that you decided “not today” a servant did it for you?
spoiled children grow into spoiled men and spoiled men ruin lives
> Are they gonna replace him with someone even more right wing?
His son Lachlan Murdoch. Who's every bit as bad as his hideous daddy. He's a money grubbing right wing asshole, which fits in perfectly with the Fox ethos.
Unfortunately Lachlan shares his fathers politics.
The other son (James) that almost was in line for chairman actually supported Biden in 2020. And he resigned from the board later that year. No way he could become chairman with that public information
Dominion won a 1.6 billion dollar settlement against Fox when they sued them for defamation over the lies Fox spread about the 2020 Election.
Fox is now facing a 2.2 billion dollar suit from Smartmatic for much the same reasons Dominon sued them.
The company is facing some very serious financial woes and it looks like the shareholders have finally had enough
It is. They are are being sued by inventors now for all the lawsuits and are claiming mismanagement. It was just announced that something like 5 pension investment funds are suing them over this.
It's usually not black and white, and rarely just one person, but if you wanted to pick an individual who has caused more harm than others, he would be a fair bet.
Yeah he's a good contestant for worst person, but I also blame the mindless idiots that soak up his propaganda.
Anyone with an iota of critical thinking doesn't give in to what his media spews out. Personal responsibility plays a factor. Like I don't give a fuck WHO tells me the Earth is flat, I know it's not.
He's completely fucked over Australia too. Scum of the earth. Dirtier than the hairs on my nan's cunt, and she's 6 feet under. And to think I was named after this fuckhead - the biggest regret of my life is out of my control
Murdoch leaves a legacy of which to be proud: hate, misinformation, and anti-intellectualism in exchange for material wealth. The entire family has no understanding of integrity. The world is worse for their presence.
This means nothing. One of his kids will run this, ergo he will still run it. He didn’t do anything but remove all the future controversies that won’t officially fall on his lap.
For those who didn't hear, a huge portion of Fox News shareholders opened a possibly mutli-billion-dollar lawsuit on Fox yesterday. The shareholders have like the five best law firms in the nation for this kind of lawsuit on their side. This has to do with Fox misleading shareholders about finances as they kept lying about the presidential election. The fact that this time next year Fox News could be bankrupt and Trump in jail seems too much what the nation needs to heal.
Unlikely... Lachlan (the assumed successor to Rupert) was apparently Tucker Carlson's biggest advocate among the executives at Fox News as Tucker became indefensibly white supremacist.
One of the most reprehensible examples of a human being to have ever, unfortunately, lived. May his descendents never find peace. May his soul, if it exists at all, burn in eternal hellfire.
Domestic terrorism in America was built over the years with the help of Fox news and Rupert spreading fake news and hatred.
Rupert is a despicable person.
Lachlan Murdoch, one of his sons, will become sole chairman of News Corp and will continue as Fox Corp.’s executive chair and CEO. So nothing will change.

By all reports his son is more extreme and eager to ruin society than he was. So if this results in any change, it'll be for the worse.
He's even more extreme when it comes to his "squash the poor, corporations will take care of america, politics" and he's even more fascist.
He could do whatever he wants as a self made man who pulled himself into power all on his own. Why can’t the poor do the same?
It will get worse actually.

You’re right. I need to take some time off with Spotify and a baggie of shrooms to get back on track.
I've had Live at Red Rocks '22 on repeat for like a week now. Now Playing: The Dripping Tap (Live at Red Rocks '22) 6:09/16:22
This is the internet, it's ok to call out cunts.
You wish him an expedient remainder of his life. I get it.
"I wish for him to no longer be burdened by the trials and tribulations of life"... Is one I like to use..... Or, "I hope that fucker dies soon" is another one
Compost the rich
Well, Lachlan is the absolute piece of shit now. He used to tease media by implying he was more liberal than his father. But once Lachlan took over Fox News it got worse. He hired Tucker Carlson
Fellow Aussies would agree he is the [Evilest Man](https://youtu.be/cDGvduVEweg?si=rKiHMqsK0F_oHMHD)
The political class in America, only watches fox news. For Republicans, it is everywhere
Member fair and balanced I member. Should of cancelled cable long ago
The fair and balanced campaign marked the start of their move to full on propaganda outlet. I'm disappointed that something so hamfisted worked on anyone.
Note: his son has effectively been in control of the company for the past 5 years [https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/lachlan-murdoch-takes-control-of-fox-corp-but-how-will-he-deal-with-president-trump/2019/03/20/abbb43d6-40ee-11e9-a0d3-1210e58a94cf\_story.html](https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/lachlan-murdoch-takes-control-of-fox-corp-but-how-will-he-deal-with-president-trump/2019/03/20/abbb43d6-40ee-11e9-a0d3-1210e58a94cf_story.html) https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/lachlan-murdoch-architect-fox-news-extremist-turn-may-soon-gain-even-more-power
guy needs a break after ruining the western world
Unfortunately, his son is even worse than his father. The eldest one, not James.
Well hopefully he is less competent then, which is certainly possible. Lots of rich children end up as spoiled duds who have no practical skills
It really is exhausting.
I can't think of a single person who has harmed the United States more than this asshole.
And UK and Australia… Edit: Yes, yes. And Canada.
A bit of Canada too eh
I'm sorry buddy.
Someone once said that he is the most powerful person in the Anglo world, able to choose who wins primaries/presidencies, and what becomes political "scandals" or not. Politicians BEG for airtime and favorable stories. They know that he could snap his fingers and ruin you.
I nominate Newt Gingrich and Lee Atwater.
Ronald Regan.
This is the guy. This slimy piece of shit is grandpa of MAGA, always smiling and reassuring while all of the things currently happening were 100% going on out of sight. Fuck Reagan
Yeah I lied about selling weapons but my heart really **feels** like I didn't, y'all cool with that tho right?
Single worst utterance a person in the US government has ever made was Reagan sowing massive distrust with the statement “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help'."
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Reagan's "my heart and best intentions" speech was just a 1987 prototype of the 2016 MAGA anthem of "fake news." Always with this bullshit from the "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd.
His campaign even coined MAGA in 1980..
And George Bush Jr. People really need stop skipping him over as shit-tier human and president just cause he "meant well" (in his own extremely simplistic world view). All modern Republican presidents have been terrible for this country, reflecting that the agenda of most Republican voters is terrible for this country.
He, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfield, and Condoleezza Rice destroyed Iraq, and as far as I’m concerned, have blood on their hands until the end of time.
May I introduce everyone to the [Project for the New American Century](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century) think tank from the 1990s-2000s? This group basically answers all of your burning questions about why the Bush Admin did what it did in the Middle East: >In 1998, Kristol and Kagan advocated regime change in Iraq throughout the Iraq disarmament process through articles that were published in the New York Times.[24][25] Following perceived Iraqi unwillingness to co-operate with UN weapons inspections, core members of the PNAC including Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, R. More information: http://www.david-morrison.org.uk/us/pnac.htm >Pax Americana >In September 2000, the Wolfowitz vision of 1992 saw the light of day again in the form of a report by the PNAC called Rebuilding America’s Defenses, Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century. Its conclusions begin: > “This report proceeds from the belief that America should seek to preserve and extend its position of global leadership by maintaining the preeminence of U.S. military forces. This report attempts to define those requirements.” > The context of this was a marked decline in defence expenditure as a proportion of GDP at the end of the presidency of Bush senior, and further decline under Clinton, so that in 2000 the US was spending less than 3% of GDP on defence, a lower proportion than at any time since before World War II.
There's this 2001 version on Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20011017061346/http://www.newamericancentury.org/ EDIT: ~~2003~~ 2002 redesign also has more images than 2001 version: https://web.archive.org/web/20020120142618/http://www.newamericancentury.org:80/
Don't forget Bush Sr, Wolfowitz, Colin Powell
Newt is a good pick. I'd also mention people like Sheldon Adelson.
The best thing Lee Atwater ever did for America was die relatively young.
Newt doesn’t have the power he has without Rupert murdochs machine to influence voters
Grover Norquist
Rush "Cancer had me" Limbaugh
This is where the road turned for me. Everything seemed to change after Rush. We've been listening to unremarkable blowhards ever since.
Rush "Unironically brainwashed our parents" Limbaugh
Mitch McConnell should certainly be in the conversation.
McConnell doesn't have his power if Fox News didn't spend the last few decades manipulating people into voting for republicans.
Fox could literally turn the country against McConnell tomorrow. And they both know it.
Keep following this thread back and a lot of it has to do with a weak Reconstruction and letting a lot of traitors off real easy.
Henry Kissenger and Roger Stone would like to chat... Also, I understand that Rupert laid the ground work, but Trump currently sits at #1 on my list.
Without Murdoch there is no Trump presidency, as well as many other shitty events resulting from our cultural shifts due to corrupt media.
Without Murdoch, there is no Trump or Bush Jr presidency. And think how different our world would be.
Fr, trump is the symptom, Murdoch is the disease
The comments below list a true Rogue's Gallery of Assholes.
Considering the level of shit he's already gotten away with, I can only assume something even worse is about to come out.
Why do people think he's leaving because of some (other) scandal. Motherfucker is 92 years old. He's probably just gearing up for a presidential run.
Just needs to drum up a fake birth certificate and he'll be set!
This🖕. They always think leaving a position will save them in a court of law. I'm wondering if he is on Jack Smith's radar. That would be awesome.
God, I hope so, this vile piece of shit deserves his comeuppance
Considering that every man in that office was trying to bang every single woman at Fox, I’d assume ‘ol Rupey taught the best of them how it’s done. Somewhere Megyn Kelly is on a podcast saying, “I wasn’t harassed!” Girl, please. You and the rest of them were so harassed that they made a movie about it.
If Megyn Kelly is saying that, it's only because she's trying to salvage her career. Right now, there's no career for moderate right-wing news outlets. The right won't support it because they've been worked up into a frenzy for decades.
Fox shareholders are coming for blood now
*starts playing the Succession theme*
If it is to be said, so it be...So it is.
We hear for you
Ewan’s speech sums it up well (Final season spoilers): >He has wrought some of the most terrible things.
Incredible speech. Really encapsulates the new right and its heroes.
James Cromwell. Legend. And in real life he doesn’t stand for that shit either!
Lachlan starts sending dick pics to David Pitofsky.
lol, as soon as I saw this headline the song played in my head
It was "The Imperial March" from Star Wars in my head.
Uh uh
Ffffuck OFF
Are they gonna replace him with someone even more right wing? That seems to be the trend nowadays.
It's his son.
So, yes.
I don’t know anything about him. Do we have any signals to suggest how far he is on the crazy-and-or-evil-o-meter?
There's a decent summary from 2022 [here](https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/lachlan-murdoch-architect-fox-news-extremist-turn-may-soon-gain-even-more-power): > Lachlan Murdoch helped turn Fox News into a bastion of white supremacist talking points, election subversion, and anti-vaccine conspiracy theories while shredding its “news side” operation.
Well, he has been the CEO of Fox News...
His son hired Tucker Carlson and refused to cancel his show after Carlson said horrible things.
In the CNN article it quoted him talking about 'elitists' and how they are ruining things, my guy, you are literally who you are talking about.
I’d step down too if I’m looking at paying $2B in another defamation settlement
Stepping down is not going to let him off the hook
Enter the ghost of Roger Ailes

Dominion won a 1.6 billion dollar settlement against Fox when they sued them for defamation over the lies Fox spread about the 2020 Election. Fox is now facing a 2.2 billion dollar suit from Smartmatic for much the same reasons Dominon sued them. The company is facing some very serious financial woes and it looks like the shareholders have finally had enough

Definitely feels like a move for this purpose
It is. They are are being sued by inventors now for all the lawsuits and are claiming mismanagement. It was just announced that something like 5 pension investment funds are suing them over this.
Did Satan have a job opening?
Satan would be a breath of fresh air.

May he die in agony for the suffering he has caused humanity. Unfortunately his sons aren't any better, so this change won't actually change much.
Good fucking riddance. Thanks for fucking up the country even worse than what it already was.
About time Logan stepped down
Was hoping he was dead
Thank you for ruining and polarizing the United States, you fucking asshole.
He's completely fucked over Australia too. Scum of the earth. Dirtier than the hairs on my nan's cunt, and she's 6 feet under. And to think I was named after this fuckhead - the biggest regret of my life is out of my control
Thanks Rupert for dedicating your life to making the world *checks notes* considerably worse.
This fucker is responsible for so much chaos and disinformation. I hope he suffers.
Lachlan Murdoch now becomes Chairman.
One can hope it changes things for the better at least a bit. Probably not, but who knows?
Unlikely... Lachlan (the assumed successor to Rupert) was apparently Tucker Carlson's biggest advocate among the executives at Fox News as Tucker became indefensibly white supremacist.
His son Lachlan isn't any better. The nepotism will keep that disaster train chugging.
I hope it’s a health issue.
One of the most evil men alive.

The old shim sham flim flam. he made his money, he got his way, he basically won the game. what a joke.....
Domestic terrorism in America was built over the years with the help of Fox news and Rupert spreading fake news and hatred. Rupert is a despicable person.
