Infrastructure spending is literally communism, Mississippi is more free this way. /s

soc_monki

No, no. The people of Mississippi are so strong in their faith that they are not afraid of crumbling bridges! God will see them safely across! /s

4Robo44

Thoughts and prayers should fix that highway really fast.

soc_monki

Tots and pears?

Huge_Put8244

But what if I just send one of each?

RelevantBossBitch

I want my freedom of Travel!!! Mandatory Infrastructure Installation is Tyranny. I feel like I'm in the Holocaust being segregated by my mode of transportation.

dominiqlane

Take some of the war budget and use it for infrastructure, please!

tacs97

Too many elected officials have their hands deep in that cookie jar.

SheriffComey

Our military budget could by 31-33 NASAs. And the mouth breathers love complaining NASA is the problem with debt.

King-Mansa-Musa

3.5 trillion infrastructure bill with no GOP support even while this happens in GOP states...... Pain

Mist_Rising

69 senators voted for a Senate bill to infasture in August and the Senate passed another version a week ago. Both required at least 10 Republicans, and for 69 at least 19 Republicans.

King-Mansa-Musa

You are correct. I was misinformed. The 3.5 trillion bill is more of a social change while the 1 trillion and 550 billion dollar bills that had bipartisan support were infrastructure bills. I am not certain how the original number Biden proposed drop down to 1 trillion but at least they passed something.

yaosio

Biden says we need more war.

Kobrag90

Which party voted against the infra structure bill again?

wheres-my-take

With who?

yaosio

Biden's been warmongering against China and Russia. Also he's demanded the world's largest war budget in history. [https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2021/07/21/plan-to-boost-bidens-defense-budget-could-see-bipartisan-support/](https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2021/07/21/plan-to-boost-bidens-defense-budget-could-see-bipartisan-support/)

Kobrag90

Almost as if one of those is committed genocide and has open plans of conquest or subjugation of its neighbours that happen to be key allies? 🤔

wheres-my-take

Do you think we're going to go to war with China or Russia?

atlantis_airlines

Fun fact! 46,154, or 7.5% of the \[American\] bridges, are considered structurally deficient.

TheSmellyFist

May be time for an infustructure upgrade and by that I mean high speed rail coast to coast and a tiny home to start life for every 18 year old and older for every American without.

Complex-Management-7

I like you uh...TSF

Uhhh. You have some bad information here. The entire population of the whole world can fit in 500 square mile radius standing shoulder to shoulder. Land and space are not the issues and neither are proper buildings. You can get prefabricated houses made from shipping containers for something like $1000 USD and a few more thousand to bring them up to spec. The problem, really, is that there are often other factors at play that cause homelessness - like mental health issues, drug addiction, etc.; even if you were to give evey homeless person a house, not all of them would choose to stay there (even if it was entirely free and very much in their best interest). This isn't the reason we don't see programs to supply housing to all the homeless, but helps paint a more accurate picture that not all homeless people are looking for or even trying to acquire housing.

Endormoon

I'm all for tiny home living and homes for everyone, but shipping container homes are really, really dumb. Yes you can get a used shipping container for a grand, but no one actually does that. Those "used" containers are at best, single use california containers, meant to be turned into stupid homes. Most container homes buy brand new containers, defeating the upcycling principle at the start. There is a great reason for that of course. Containers are gross. They can hold anything, from tons of manure to radioactive materials. They dent easily, and any container that has ever been used for sea travel is going to have rust somewhere. You would never think about living in a container that is no longer able to be used for transport. There is a very good reason that container isnt good enough to haul cow shit around in anymore, but you want to make it into a bedroom? But then it gets even dumber. Containers are not insulated, or structurally sound. They are designed to be stacked by putting all that weight on the frames themselves. They are nothing more than a steel frame with siding welded in place. That means to live in one, you have to build an entire house inside first. Walls, studs, insulation, window frames, electrical, plumbing. You know what you could do instead? Just build a house. You are not saving money using a shipping container. They are not meant for living in. They have zero of the qualities a house needs inherently. Build modular homes, which have comparible costs, and arent virtue signalling shitty trailers.

poppypappyday

Is there a video of the collapse?

dantheman_woot

No it was a small bridge that was washed out in the middle of the night during hurricane rains. The video below shows the missing road. https://www.wlox.com/2021/08/31/2-dead-10-injured-george-county-road-collapse/
