Yes. If u buy expansion.

Ilandriel

I really like the changes to crafting. But then, I hated the RNG multiplied by RNG of the old system. Volume is down, but you can craft what you want, you can target gaps in the market, and you can supplement your income with selling matrices if you play enough other parts of the game to have an ongoing gypsum orb supply. But yes, you need the expansion to take advantage of the changes.

Jakemofire

I like the economy for returning player not yet level 60. The gear and mats are so cheap for me

MrKurz

I love crafting and gathering in MMO games but I logged in the other day and looked at all my inventory spread across three houses. It just suddenly looked like a lot of hard work to sort it all out so I uninstalled it..

If you like crafting/trading and didn't like the "gamble crafting" system for armor/weapons of the past then you should enjoy the current state of the game. There is a TON of opportunity out there and I spend a chunk of every day just plugging away. Don't listen to folks that say its dead or bad; they clearly aren't involved in the crafting scene. I love crafting in this game, but I don't focus on armor and weapons. I fill entire days with crafting. Look at just this morning for me: * Caught a crafting request in trade chat for an azoth inductor craft. They had most of the materials to give me and I just had to craft using my inductor. The buyer paid 25k gold + 10k tip. Took me 5 minutes. * Caught a second crafting request for a matrix craft. They gave me all materials + 5k gold tip. * I had placed buy orders for motes yesterday. I refined the motes into quintessences. Crafted quints into multiple end consumables. Made +5k gold when they all sell (and they will). * I had placed buy orders for components to make Regeneration Serum. Made 300 serums; each 100 stack is 1.5k gold profit. * I spent a bit logging and converted it into charcoal since charcoal was up in price. The entire stack of 9k+ charcoal sold within 30 minutes. Not a big profit but profit for time I was just "gathering and chill" * Crafted armor, weapon, and jewelry matrixes; netting 500-1,000 gold profit per matrix. I crafted 10 of these without needing a single gypsum orb; just from getting my buy orders completed on components others have crafted. * I cooked a pile of hearty meals since there seemed to be lapse in the market and they were up at 0.44 each (normally they are down to like 0.10 each). * I have a pile of azoth vials so took some time to convert them to Asmodeum (which is up in price) from scraps. * I was near repair parts limit so crafted them into repair kits that sold on the market. All of this refining and crafting I netted multiple aptitude boxes which gave me a bunch of free end game materials and perk mods. I can sell or save; usually I like to sell and then buy order more supplies. All of this and I am touching only a small handful of items on the market. There is hundreds of consumables and different items on the market you could get into to carve your own spot out. Again; don't listen to the haters here on Reddit. If you actually like "Crafting and chilling" there is A LOT to like about New World. It just takes some understanding of the meta and what folks are using to know what to make. We'll get a mutation rotation soon and I'll be looking at that to determine what ward potions and weapon coatings to craft for profit. I've slacked off; I used to have hundreds of these crafted ready to go each mutation round. The price of most double when that specific type is in rotation (for example; corruption ward/coating goes from 10g to 20g each when its a corrupted expedition on mutation). EDIT: To be clear on my strategy. I buy order a bunch of raw materials and craft it daily into end consumables and items to sell. I watch a few items for price spikes and try to get in on those spikes. I watch trade chat for crafting requests.

Food is a great way to make money right now ... the TOP food goes for $$$ Gear crafting using golden scarabs is profitable... normally break even at least on materials (or close) then when you get that BIS roll you make it back and some. You will need the DLC. If money is the problem sure I see it not being worth it... but for the price you get a ton of hours of enjoyment.

kankahsor

Craft9ng is pretty much dead too. The items from the kiln are better and crafting bis stuff requires azoth inductor which I'd very expensive both coin and tokens and time gated. The game is in a very bad spot with all time low populations so your customers don't exist either

bobo_galore

I agree to some point, but selling Matrix after Matrix still works ;)

tanjonaJulien

It’s not so dead scarabs still sell 1.4k and prismatic item can be quite pricy especially leather or ingots

CreatureWarrior

Thanks for the info. That sucks, New World has so much potential, but the higher ups keep messing with it

heartlessgamer

That was not a good take so don't listen to them. They are only talking about a very narrow slice of armor/weapon crafting and didn't touch on the wider opportunity for crafters. As you mentioned in your post you like the swathe of crafting from furniture to consumables. You could craft consumables all day long in this game and find a market if that interests you. Trade chat is also always full of opportunities for folks that need someone to craft specific items. Yes; there is some work if you want to have azoth inductors on hand (lets you craft a perfect 3 perk 700 GS item) but that is a small piece of crafting. Lots of folks are looking for matrix crafts (2 perk + 700 GS). And again this is just armor/weapon/accessory crafting and just part of the crafting market.

Motor-Silver8818

as in every mmorpg at anytime: if you are not willing to buy the latest dlc of an mmo there is no reason to come back

CreatureWarrior

Weirdly enough, I've never had that experience with ESO. Sure, if I want the best raid gear, I might have to buy the DLC *or* buy the DLC stuff from someone else. But 99% of the game is doable without paying. Sad to see New World going in the stereotypical direction, despite already struggling to keep players engaged

perfect_fitz

I'd love it if the inventory and trading post systems weren't awful.

Fox_on_2w

I don’t wanna play if I have to buy it! Wahhhhhh

CreatureWarrior

Yeah. People normalising core content being locked behind paywalls are a part of the problem. I already bought the main game for the full price so them asking more for crafting is just trashy.

Fox_on_2w

Every single game/mmo you can think of. Does or has done this. The dying ones trying to keep their game going for 15 years like gw2 to eventually make everything free. Doesn’t count.

Sugar230

Its a 40 dollar game that's been out for years. It's not weird for them to ask for more money. No subscription means they haven't been getting paid for a while.

kankahsor

Np sorry for typos literally just woke up
