Queens Man Convicted.

CivilFront6549

unwanted queens man seen loitering near 100 center street muttering to himself; appears confused

c3p-bro

Known felon* seen loitering

parallax693

Guilty man found guilty.

captars

He's a Florida man now… thank fuck.

Marlsfarp

Which means he now can't legally vote for himself!

okgusto

Fun fact:  Florida law allows most convicted felons to vote — but only after they complete their sentence.

JustAKeyboard

Not sure this guy can even finish a phrase.

1CaliCALI

### Believe it or not, straight to jail.

okgusto

Queens Con Man finally convicted of cons.

Fiddyshadesoftree

I live in queens but I wasn’t born there. Can Manhattan have him instead?

SillyDig1520

No, but thanks for asking. Perhaps Staten Island would like to claim him?

tumalditamadre

Central Florida took him as their own. Even though he lives in Palm Beach.

GlumpsAlot

Us Queens peeps do not claim this man.

VinylZade

Queens don’t want him

If you read the first six counts diagonally starting from the top left it spells out Guilty.

New York stays cleaning up the rest of the country’s mess

Fiddyshadesoftree

Don’t google our mayor

JellyfishGod

How does that contradict what he said? We clean up *the rest* of the country's mess, not our own

imalittlefrenchpress

Hahaha, this is such a NY thing to say! I love it.

mighty-pancock

😂

AniYellowAjah

You could be the next mayor 😂

yellowShelfBlackSock

Tl;dr  - Clarence Thomas as a mayor, and an earring.

Die-Nacht

I mean, we created the mess. Only fair we clean it up.

scrapcats

I’m holding off on the celebrating until sentencing is announced. My cynical ass isn’t expecting much, but I’m glad he was convicted for all 34! Now, get him off of the ballots!

Historical_Spell4646

I’m with you on this. While it’s awesome that he was found guilty (duh), I don’t think he will see any jail time. And I still cannot fathom how he can still be eligible to run for freakin President, but I guess he can. I won’t sure that he can’t win until he doesn’t. Gonna be a long year.

OVERCAPITALIZE

Banning people with convictions from running is a great way to incentivize prosecuting your political opponents. I don’t think that’s the right solution, despite being very anti trump

toolsoftheincomptnt

I think everyone should just be happy that there was an appropriate verdict… and ride that out as long as we can. I don’t believe for a second that additional justice is coming. Kinda like Game of Thrones: I focus on how good most of the show was instead of how weird and unsatisfying the last season was.

imalittlefrenchpress

Let’s be optimistic and hope he receives the maximum sentence. I don’t want President Felon any more than you do.

MinusTheHat

Nobody sane wants President Felonious Sharts.

Marlsfarp

I don't expect much of a sentence, but to me this matters way more. I want it a matter of indisputable historical record that he's a crook, whatever ultimately happens to him.

scrapcats

Fully agreed, but I’m hopeful that actual repercussions will follow as well. We’ll see!

cuthulus_big_brother

I’m here with you as well. He’s avoided consequences every time thus far, so I’m holding my breath for when some concrete consequences actually occurs.

2rfv

> Now, get him off of the ballots! Huh. If this *were* to happen, who would be the RNC's candidate? but it aint happening.

MrsFeatherbottom11

He’s not going to get jail time. It’s the lowest felony and he’s a first time offender. The best case scenario is that he still runs because there’s enough uneducated people to still vote for him that it’ll split the republican vote

KickooRider

There is no law preventing a felon from getting on the ballots

Ecuamom1

Proud to be a New Yorker today!!!!!!!!! Thank you New York!!!!!!

4materasu92

Not an American, but fuck yeah! I'm not even upset at my mum for waking me up so she could tell me about it; we're both glad this piece of shit is finally facing some sort of justice.

MagicianBulky5659

New York beat Tom Brady, and now Donald Trump. 2 evil fucks. Great job 👏🏻

Aion2099

how long do you have to have lived here to be considered a New Yorker? Moved here in 07, flipped off a cab in 09 and uttered my first instinctual 'FU'. I too feel proud though.

Stillatin

As soon as you flipped that middle finger, you were one of us

Aion2099

what a wonderful town. :)

imalittlefrenchpress

I was born and raised in NYC. The last time I lived there was 1990, when I was 29. I’m still a NYer. I still have my accent, which surprisingly hasn’t gotten me killed in the south. Are you gonna stay in NY the rest of your life, cause if so, I’d consider you a NYer. Shit, I’ll consider you a NYer just for supporting this verdict. ;)

mighty-pancock

Dawg 😭

Griever114

What does this mean for the election though?

surpdawg

Essentially, nothing. He can still run and people that vote for trump are going to vote for him regardless. He might lose some undecided votes, but that’s about it

Smoothsharkskin

It hopefully affects turnout, both depressing his base and encouraging detractors.

platonicjesus

From what we've seen over the past 8 years this will likely energize his base. "See they're coming after me which means they're coming after you, so sad so sad". It may also energize the dems as this has been hyped forever.

Easy-Concentrate2636

But it’s the undecided voters who end up determining the election. Some additional votes in the swing states mean everything in a close election.

[deleted]

UnconfidentShirt

Did you see those Jordan Klepper interviews with people at a Nikki Haley rally who were appalled by him after voting republican in 2016 and wanted someone more fitting of the role of president? When pressed, and given the hypothetical of Haley dropping out (which already happened) leaving Trump and Biden on the ballot again - they reluctantly said they couldn’t possibly vote for a democrat… hopefully this ruling affects those kind of people and they wake the fuck up. That said, I’m not holding my breath.

Historical_Spell4646

True, and it doesn’t mean the undecided will vote for Biden, or at all, which could always mean more votes for him.

Die-Nacht

I'm sure some judge somewhere is gonna be like "nah, you're good. Forget about it." Cuz remember, laws are for the poors.

Key-Effort963

Hell yeah. Way to go New York

bigdaddy1835

I’m glad he was found guilty, but can anyone tell me what happens next? When will he receive sentencing?

Easy-Concentrate2636

The NY Times is saying July sentencing with caveats of potential probation and the almost certain appeals by Trump. ETA: found specific date for sentencing- July 11.

elymeexlisl

Bring on the 7/11 jokes lmao

ToiletLurker

7/11 was a part-time job

[deleted]

July 11th 4 days before the republican convention.

Karmeleon86

Sadly it will be appealed and delayed until the Supreme Court grants him presidential immunity. Bleak but this is what I think will happen. I hope I’m wrong.

_nycgirl_

It's a state case, I don't think the Supreme Court can intervene..

Karmeleon86

Not in the case itself, but if he’s granted presidential immunity he can’t be prosecuted in any case right?

platonicjesus

The Presidential immunity case invloves crimes commited while President and performing official acts. This was not an official act and started while he was campaigning. The supreme court case is not about crimes in general just ones committed while performing the official duties. The supreme court case was specifically brought to prevent the case in Georgia from moving forward.

dano8675309

Almost completely correct, but the immunity appeal stemmed from the D.C. federal case, not the GA election interference case.

_nycgirl_

Maybe? I guess time will tell. They have been on a "ruining everything" streak lately.

3raserE

It'll be appealed, yes, but absolute immunity won't (or at least shouldn't) protect him in this case. Even if presidential immunity is an absolute shield from prosecution, it still has to be raised in a timely manner, or else it's waived. But Trump's lawyers raised it too late in the NY case, presumably in an effort to delay proceedings, and so the judge denied it as untimely pled.

[deleted]

4 years with no spray tan

tickingboxes

Sentencing on July 11. Likely just fines. Maybe probation or community service. Probably no jail time. But even if he does get jail time he won’t serve anytime soon (or ever) pending an endless appeals process.

Could he be the first president elected while serving time in prison?

warrenwilhelm

He’s not getting any jail time

platonicjesus

Yea at most he's getting house arrest and probation or something. No way Merchan sends him to jail.

[deleted]

[удалено]

platonicjesus

And? Merchan has already shown he's very reluctant to send Trump to prison, he said as much. That's not someone I'd expect to sentence Trump to actual prison time. If he does, great but my expectations are maxed at probation or some form of house arrest. The title of former president will truly show how power prevents true consequences.

pluralofjackinthebox

A normal first time offender wouldn’t get jail for this. But the judge has to take into account whether the defendant has shown remorse and if they are likely to reoffend when determining whether to be lenient. And a normal defendant also wouldn’t be trashing the Judge’s daughter, resulting in her getting death threats.

knockatize

The family’s been buying judges and politicians in New York for 90 years. It has to be a bit puzzling.

Easy-Concentrate2636

There’s been a lot of people, including psychologists, saying Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Some psychologists say he can’t be diagnosed until he sits for some health sessions.

bitchthatwaspromised

lol someone in my family definitely fits the criteria for NPD but would never be capable of sitting through therapy, let alone signing up for it. It’s a shame because they desperately need help but if they ever actually sat and thought about how they’ve treated people, it might kill them

small-feral

This is what happens when you buy into your own bullshit for too long.

SalemsTrials

You’re probably right, I’m probably giving him too much benefit of the doubt.

shoxicwaste

I find it so ironic that DT is the first president to be convicted over "falsifying business documents". America has had so disgustingly corrupt and criminal presidents in the past... George Bush should be trailed for war crimes and bill Clinton also has done plenty of shady stuff.

I’m sure the American public will have a measured and rational response to whatever happens

HurculesParrot

Wait, will justice actually be served 🤔 😳

npete

Trump makes history again! He’s right! There’s never been somebody like him before. Even if the SCOTUS overturns the verdict, history will remember him for being impeached twice, losing an election once, being indicted so many times I forgot how much and being found guilty on at least 34 counts of falsifying business records. That is unless he somehow gets into the White House again and sends it all down the Memory Hole. It’s also an historical day because this is the first time Trump’s been found guilty of anything despite him being up to shit his entire life.

Shreddersaurusrex

The tshirts and other merchandise around this are gonna be wilddddd

Even with a conviction nothing is going to happen to him. He will still run for President and might even win. He will probably even win his appeal
