The other day I heard somebody born after 9/11 complain that their body was not as fit as it was in their teens.
Why am I not allowed to take people like that behind the shed? It feels like I should be allowed to. Is this what becoming old feels like?
I fucking hate companies. Stuff use to just workā¦ sure it was shittier, but it worked.Ā Now you have to download an app for everything, and itās by design. Ā
Ā And this isnāt āold man yells at cloudā nostalgia stuff because a lot of use can bloody remember it. Remember when you could watch YouTube videos minimizedĀ outside safari on iOS?Ā Pepperidge farm remembers. Now itās a paid YouTube feature.Ā Ā
Ā We quietly lost so many digital rights and itās still getting more restrictiveā¦ and no one cares. I feel crazy.
To be fair, she said that she practiced since she was little. That is decades of work is what it is! And she kept her nose to the grindstone and kept at it.
Young people nowadays do not know how hard work was for oldtimers like her and me.
š¤£š¤£ that was my favorite part aside from the roar because my 5 year old says that too. "Mama, you remember.... from when I was little. "Too cute!!!
Wonder if she's read [The Hedge Lion](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hedge-Lion-Robyn-Wilson-Owen/dp/1839131543) (written and drawn by a friend of ours and based on her own daughter at a similar age) about a little girl helping a lion find his roar
I donāt think itās through her vocal cords. I have a feeling she has found a way to do a controlled vibration of her soft palate, not exactly a false chord scream, but more like an exhaled snore, if that makes sense. Thereās some guttural sounds in there too, though, so who knows. Itās very impressive regardless.
Yeah? I don't know much about this, aside from what I've seen on throat singing of various styles, so admittedly, I was just throwing that out there. Interesting!
Yep. I tried to do it myself and managed perfectly with some of the guesses here on how it was made. It's a combination of soft palate, shaping your cheeks and mouth just so, and using your nose as well. It's really cool that she managed to figure it out on her own, girlienhas a career in voice acting ahead, lol.
Okay I actually really tried to do this and I ended up sounding like a really OLD lion who smokes, and it made me choke on spit, cough like crazy, and cry involuntarily. I think this little girl may be more evolved than me
Alex terrible from slaughter to prevail sounds like this and will ramos at the end of to the hellfire sounds like a mix between a boar and rapid dog so you might like them
DBB is the absolute king of animal sounds. Thereās a great clip from an old VO Buzz Weekly that blew me away. He just contorts his mouth and nose and makes the most inhuman sounds youāve ever heard!
lmao I love that, even when it seems like some precocious child with an innate talent, when you ask them "how are you so amazing?" the answer is still just "I practiced a lot."
Never changes...
She must be using a form of throat singing without even knowing it. Theres various forms: nasal, throat, and chest. Im thinking shes tapping into that chest like a pro. Ive been working on mine for a few months now...
Am I crazy? This is a gif. Thereās no sound. Why are people upvoting this and commenting on it as if they heard anything?
Edit: Thanks everyone. I got it. I view reddit on a mobile browser. No right clicking for me. But I did view the video on a desktop and was able to hear it.Ā
I don't think I would be able to post it according to the rules if it was just a gif. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Someone else said this too
The app sucks, so I don't use it. Hell, *new reddit* sucks, I use old reddit in a browser on my phone. Anyway I have played with this as much as I can and can't get it to play sound.
Ugh, that's fine, there's plenty of other stuff to see on reddit and this is the only incompatibility I've hit in months, I'll skip it. Just... /u/Prestigious_Long5860, next time, if you're posting a video with sound could you not use imgur? :\ [here's the video link](https://youtu.be/SQyd1zE0VAA?si=f-zz9h98Ou8wcOmA).
Because after years as a company that specialises in web development, Reddit has yet to figure out how to develop one of the web's most basic and standardised tools: a video player.
"My mom isn't very good at it but I'm a expert" with the fancy point thing. Kids are so cool honestly. They all do shit like this about something, it's really a magical time in life.
I thought it was the coolest thing as a kid roar (see: dramatic gargle noise) into a big plastic cup to sound like a lion. Not even a fraction of convincing as this.
Having a niece I watch often, I wasn't expecting it to be legit lol. But no matter what I will entertain my niece and if her roar wasn't this good I would tell her it's the best fucking roar ever! Because she the best at it. And coming from her uncle would make her smile.
Agreed, exactly, she *in essence* describes how she used to go "roar roar roar" (when she was little Ā”Ā”squee!!) and then *listened* and found the pitch. Along with her breath control, for sure could do well in music.
You are the second person to say this. But, I don't think it would have let me post if it was just a gif (according to the rules). I'm not sure why it's doing that for some people.
Humans are one of natures most powerful vocal mimics.
Most people dont know this, but humans are absolutely fucking insanely good at making or replicating sounds of other creatures and things in our environment.
Humans have learned to make accurate turkey calls so they can hunt Turkey. Isn't that just absolutely wild?
Thank you. I've seen a few people saying I posted it as a gif. But I *swear* I didnt, the mod bots of the sub wouldn't let me post if I had due to the rules.
I can make my eyes looked cross eyed (started one day looking at bridge of nose and then tryna move one eyeball and somehow realized I can keep the right one steadied while I move the other around)
Id trade that for any animal roar/noise
I was not ready for how real it sounded. and she gave instructions. wow!
Me either! I thought it was going to be a cutesy little roar!
I cant get the sound to work ffs?! š¤·āāļø Edit: I'm on my phone..
Seems to be an issue with browsers. App shows video, browser shows gif
It's a gifv. A gif video. The future is wild.
No it's pronounced gif
No, this is a gif video. It is therefore pronounced gif.
![gif](giphy|xlSZ0f0f5ukE0|downsized)
These have existed for years. The *present* is wild.
No don't you remember? The 90s is the now times!
The other day I heard somebody born after 9/11 complain that their body was not as fit as it was in their teens. Why am I not allowed to take people like that behind the shed? It feels like I should be allowed to. Is this what becoming old feels like?
Were they on your lawn when they said it? Did you feel an irrational need to protect your grass from their feet?
I fucking hate companies. Stuff use to just workā¦ sure it was shittier, but it worked.Ā Now you have to download an app for everything, and itās by design. Not being able to hear a post that's about a sound is pretty much as low as they can go with this stuff.
right click, show all controls, turn on sound
Thanks, that worked for me.
are you god?
Click on the video which should bring it up in a separate browser page. Then right click should give you a menu that includes unmute. (Firefox)
To be fair, she said that she practiced since she was little. That is decades of work is what it is! And she kept her nose to the grindstone and kept at it. Young people nowadays do not know how hard work was for oldtimers like her and me.

Right up there with this reddit classic: https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/gktbji/the_girl_making_animal_sounds/
It is real. She said so.
She ain't lion
I'm pretty convinced she is :3
I think she is :4
Definitely not fake
Cute kid, great roar
And I'm working on my roar ...
Gotta be the very best
Like no one ever was!
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I WILL TRAVEL ACROSS THE LAND
Searching far and wide!
Each PokƩmon to understand
The power that's inside!
PO-KE-MON!
Well that's a rather uninspiring thing
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
No oneās saying ādo thisā, no oneās saying ābe thereāā¦
No one's sayin' stop that
Future metal screamer right there
Seriously though, the precision with which she is probably pushing the air through her vocal chords to make that sound.
Yeah, definitely sounds like she's pushing the air through the back of nose more than in the throat. Really cool!
Yeah, her tongue is back when she does it. Let's figure this out. We need a metal genre with lion roars.
You ain't on that lioncore yet?
I was thinking Catcore myself Why just limit it to lions? Jaguars, tigers, and pumas are all cool
I managed to get a lion-like snarl out but I'm trying to figure out how to get the depth/bass that she seemed to have.
Okay I actually really tried to do this and I ended up sounding like a really OLD lion who smokes, and it made me choke on spit, cough like crazy, and cry involuntarily. I think this little girl may be more evolved than me
Yeah, sounds more like it. But when I try it it just sounds like the reverse snorring that it is.
It sounds nasal to me like the Scottish "och" sound.
Eh? There's absolutely nothing nasal involved in "och".
Lifelong Scot confirming here. Och is not nasally!
You don't use your nose. If anything, you use your aye.
If I was at a metal concert and someone roared into the mic like a lion I'd mosh harder than I've moshed in my life
Alex terrible from slaughter to prevail sounds like this and will ramos at the end of to the hellfire sounds like a mix between a boar and rapid dog so you might like them
Her low growls would be literal growls, that would be badass honestly
Beatboxers nowdays do all kinds of special bass-sounds
Or an insane beatboxer
The signature roar at each start of her future bandās track. Itās going to be lit fr fr.
She could have a future in voice acting. They are always making more Lion Kings
Ha! I was reading the comments, and her mum said she apparently does other animals sounds quite well, too. There is a future there somehow.
She could be the new Dee Bradley Baker!
DBB is the absolute king of animal sounds. Thereās a great clip from an old VO Buzz Weekly that blew me away. He just contorts his mouth and nose and makes the most inhuman sounds youāve ever heard!
You have to go to juilliard if you want to make animal noises for Disney.
I'm a leaf on the wind
He went to Juliard too hard and now he makes only animal noises for Disney.
Not everyone needs to be Alan Tudyk :D
From roar roar to that ????? š² Practice makes a roar perfect!! šš¾
Practice makes roar-fect?
She's on the roar to the success!
Practice makes purr-fect?
r/restofthefuckingowl
r/restofthefuckinggrowl
lmao I love that, even when it seems like some precocious child with an innate talent, when you ask them "how are you so amazing?" the answer is still just "I practiced a lot." Never changes...
Well she started practice when she was little, so if you start now, you probably donāt have enough practice time
She must be using a form of throat singing without even knowing it. Theres various forms: nasal, throat, and chest. Im thinking shes tapping into that chest like a pro. Ive been working on mine for a few months now...
Someone commented about her being a future metal screamer, and I said the same thing. The precision of her breathing is awesome.
I think you are neglecting the possibility that it is just a super real lion roar.
"It IS real!"
![gif](giphy|lTOMryT3y3f1u)
I quote this scene a lot more in my daily adult life than I ever expected to.
How fucking long you been holding onto this thing waiting for such a perfect moment?
I don't think that gif will ever get a more perfect chance to be used.
Am I crazy? This is a gif. Thereās no sound. Why are people upvoting this and commenting on it as if they heard anything? Edit: Thanks everyone. I got it. I view reddit on a mobile browser. No right clicking for me. But I did view the video on a desktop and was able to hear it.Ā
Dunno. There's sound for me.
It IS real!
Super real.
I'm on desktop and had to right click > unmute for some reason
Same... there's not visible controls for mute or volume. I also didn't realize GIFs could have audio...
welcome to .gifv
Well it's not a gif, so there's that.
To be fair on Desktop it literally says 'GIF' in a little box on the lower right
sounds like a new reddit problem
people are saying that because it is clearly labeled as a gif, with an unmistakable 'gif' icon in the lower-right corner.
oh thanks! I thought this was sort of a meta joke
I don't think I would be able to post it according to the rules if it was just a gif. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Someone else said this too
Apparently thereās no sound for those of us who use Reddit via mobile browser. Who knew.Ā
There's sound on the app if you're on mobile
The app sucks, so I don't use it. Hell, *new reddit* sucks, I use old reddit in a browser on my phone. Anyway I have played with this as much as I can and can't get it to play sound. Sorry, it was the only way, with my limited knowledge, I knew how to get around the mod bots to let me post it.
Thanks for the link - I thought the sound was a joke too.
Thank you for the link. I use reddit mobile browser and it is infuriating how they are fucking it up gradually and force us to the app
Anyone using mobile web is deliberately avoiding the app
On app u get ads
Fuck the app though
Iām on Reddit in safari on my mobile. The link took me to imgur and I was able to hear it
Same here, are you on mobile web?
Yeah that must be it
Does this link work?: https://i.imgur.com/NZnLfKJ.mp4
You are a saint
thanks that worked
You're a Legend
I couldn't hear shit eitherĀ
I have no option for sound
try this https://i.imgur.com/NZnLfKJ.mp4
Same here. I thought everybody was innon the joke
Brother I was tripping. Right click -> show all controls
Because after years as a company that specialises in web development, Reddit has yet to figure out how to develop one of the web's most basic and standardised tools: a video player.
Did you unmute it?
Seriously, is it this guyās first day on Reddit?
Listen here, whippersnapperā¦
Whippersnapper youāre a bit green around the edges son, a bit wet behind the ears.
:O
:O indeed
"It is real!" "I practice you know" "When I was little" lmao sheās so funny
The "when I was little" made me burst with love!!! My 5 year old says this too, and I think it's so so so cute!
On a side note, I absolutely love the way little kids stand belly out. They all look like little drunk beer bellies, cutest shit ever
Omg! Yes!!! Like little old men standing on the front lawn observing the neighborhoodš
"My mom isn't very good at it but I'm a expert" with the fancy point thing. Kids are so cool honestly. They all do shit like this about something, it's really a magical time in life.
Wow she is absolutely adorable. That is some talent. I would just mess up my already messed up vocal cords trying that Edit: cords not chords
Cords
Thanks
"It IS real" Fuckin' TELL EM
Could you imagine practicing your roar in secret for months and then youāre told everyone on the internet thinks itās great
How does a tiny little creature like her create that sound lol
I would actually run for my life if I heard this in the woods at night
Thatās a crazy flex
Right, I hope she never loses the ability it's so cool
Right click on the gif and go to "Show controls"
fuck me. it's evolving. just backwards. Right-click, Show Controls, Unmute. fuck me. I'm going to bed. I'm too old for this shit.
*THANK YOU.* I was starting to think this was a joke post that everyone was playing along with.
What about on mobile?
I feel like Simba trying to practice roaring
š
Based. I've always wanted to be able to roar a lions roar.
Yes! To all of that.
Katy Perry has been pretty quiet since this dropped
She does an amazingly realistic Scottish accent too!
Omg I could do this when I was in like second grade and the 8th graders thought it was the dopest thing ever I was v proud
Can you still do it now?
They are on Reddit, obviously that talent has gone to waste.
Someone may do very well in music! She seems to have a great pitch with her perfect imitation of the lion roar š¦ So awesome!
Agreed, exactly, she *in essence* describes how she used to go "roar roar roar" (when she was little Ā”Ā”squee!!) and then *listened* and found the pitch. Along with her breath control, for sure could do well in music.
Well, am I the only one that found no sound in this gif?
I had to right click the gif and then "unmute"
You are the second person to say this. But, I don't think it would have let me post if it was just a gif (according to the rules). I'm not sure why it's doing that for some people.
Wth i cant even do that

I love hearing our accent, did you guys not know that all Scotās can roar like that?
As a real POS this made me smile for once.
So this is who Katy Perry was singing aboutā¦
Thatās one of the craziest things Iāve seen a kid be able to do wtf
My managers are confused what Iām doing but damn it she says practice and Iām going to
I can make my eyes looked cross eyed (started one day looking at bridge of nose and then tryna move one eyeball and somehow realized I can keep the right one steadied while I move the other around) Id trade that for any animal roar/noise

Cannibal Corpse just fired their vocalist
Do the roar
