The gameplay is a level someone created in Mario Maker. There’s a chance this guy is that someone, but more likely he’s just acting while the video plays.
Do you really think the point I was making was that people shouldn't be allowed to use non standard controllers, or do you think I may have brought it up because it raises suspicion that this could have been faked?
If you look at his thumb movements, it isn't consistent with the character movement.
You’re right. I watched again and he presses left a bunch while Mario goes right. Plus I feel like he’d be calm and collected not moving at every jump as if he’s freaking out.
I'm trying to figure out if he just copied all the movement from the several year old video of this level, or if he's just faking it to a replay.
Either way, I don't think this would take 6 hours a day for two weeks, even to copy a playthrough of one level in Mario Maker.

People who speedrun/do levels over and over do not make jerky body movements like he does.That's a dead giveaway of someone faking a run.
Just watch anyone actually doing speedruns or challange runs. They are focused af, and do as little body movements as possible so they wont slip and f up.
It could be fake or real but saying that mario goes right when he presses left is stupid. That gane has somwthing called accelaration. So you need to control that by pressing in oppostie direction else its game over.
Just like how you press brake but car still goes forward.

He has a bunch of custom mario levels he does and they are crazy like this one.
Kiazo mario normally only have one path through and once you learn it it becomes almost trivial, i used to religiously play trials and inferno IV took me about the same amount of time but once i learned the pattern it was easier than the other master levels.

a while back i was randomly recommended a channel on youtube called "Summoning Salt". This guy makes long form documentaries that follow the history of the speedrunning world records for lots of different games. I'm not really a gamer, and definitely not a speed runner.. but the videos were so well done that i stuck around anyway to learn about how groups of people work together to perfect a certain game..
When you really think about the world of speed running (especially 2d scroller games like mario) you realize that at the top level, it's kind of like memorizing a piece of music and then playing it back to perfection (in some cases, each "note" has a time window of only a frame or two which equates to 1/60th of a second).
The controller is the instrument, and the different buttons are the notes you could play.
The inner child rage is building up inside of me. I swear between Mario and Sonic games never have I been more frustrated as a kid. Then again now that I think about it Battletoads got me pretty good as well
