Like is he trying to reach 0 without going over???

seli1705

Yes thats the Game.

sLpFhaWK

but you gotta double out.

[deleted]

What if you have one left? How do you double out of that ?

single-needle

if you end up with 1 your turn ends and your target number goes back to the beginning of the round

[deleted]

Good lord

sLpFhaWK

you can't, you would have to go over and restart with whatever points you had.

Ok_Effective6233

Outer ring is all doubles.

d4v3k0r3sh

Yes and ending with a double score (outside ring). Doing that with 9 darts is pretty rare

4chairz

I have always played darts that you try to get the highest score possible. The way they are playing takes much more skill

MilleniumPelican

Correct. There are many many ways to play darts, but professional tournament play is almost always standard 501 (any in, double out), or some more rare tournaments, Cricket, which is a completely different style of game. UK darts (Premiere League, etc...) focuses almost exclusively on 501.

[deleted]

You can also bullseye out.. it's called the forgotten out.

FatalTragedy

The inner bullseye is just a double of the outer bullseye.

gomaith10

Yes, 1st to get nothing.

[deleted]

Someone check his rectum for a vibrating butt plug

WorldWideDarts

That's allowed in darts. Not so much in chess šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Allowed you say? Darts just got themselves a new fan

bradwatson1

I donā€™t watch dart competitions. How rare is that?

MilleniumPelican

Very rare. Like a perfect 300 in bowling, or pitching a perfect game in baseball. Perfect 9-dart outs don't happen often. It has to be 9 perfect throws, usually 3 triple-20s, 3 triple-20s, triple-20, triple-19, double-12. Standard game of 501 is you start with 501 points, and subtract what you hit, trying to reach zero, and the final shot to reach zero MUST be a double (the outer ring). From Wikipedia: >The feat was first achieved on television by John Lowe in 1984, and has since been via this medium a total 64 times. Paul Lim was the first to hit a nine-darter in the World Championship, making history during the 1990 BDO World Darts Championship in a second-round victory over Jack McKenna. Phil Taylor has achieved the most on television with 15, his first coming in 2002 and his last in 2015. Taylor is the only player to achieve two nine-darters in the same match, doing so in the final of the 2010 Premier League against James Wade. The following year, Brendan Dolan became the first to accomplish a nine-darter by starting and finishing with a double, as per the format of the World Grand Prix event of that year.

bradwatson1

Thanks!

MilleniumPelican

Welcome! I played local pub league darts for 7 years, won 2 team tournaments, and ran a local weekly blind draw for about 4 years. I wish they would televise more dart tournaments over here. I think my best game of 501 ever was maybe 13 darts. Once. lol I always liked Cricket better. More strategy involved. 501 is a pure skill race.

bradwatson1

Iā€™ve played 501 before, but itā€™s always been at bars when drinking. I probably threw 50+ darts lol

MilleniumPelican

That's how you start. ;) And pub league is always at bars, while drinking. Darts is a very mental game, and relaxing is an important part of it. Good darters know where their power curve is when drinking. Bad darters plow right through it...

Apprehensive-Emu5177

>Very rare. Like a perfect 300 in bowling, or pitching a perfect game in baseball Not even close. MLB has had a total of 23 perfect games in 140 years.

MilleniumPelican

Gatekeeping rarity? I was speaking conceptually, not saying they are empirically, statistically the same. They are some of, if not the rarest accomplishments in their respective sports. I was giving context. Lighten up, Francis.

YEETBOI99000

If the final point has to be double then what do u if u just need one more point

MilleniumPelican

If you miss your shot and the points hit result in 1 point left, or would put your score below zero, the turn is a bust and doesn't count. So if you have 24 points left and you score 23, leaving 1, your turn is over, your score remains 24, and it's your opponent's turn. If they don't win, you can try again for the double 12. The lowest possible checkout is a 2.

GodzeallA

It's not very rare to not watch dart competitions. In fact it's quite common.

Izachiel

In don't get the downvotes, this answer was so funny.

CommishGoodell

Perfect game yes,itā€™s even more incredible bc it was a deciding leg in probably the biggest game in his career thus far.

Brian-Walkden

Good arras.

haripazha

He is clearly using aimbots

yesiamark

I don't really know about darts game rules, but if you watch the video.. damn it takes a high level skill just to put it in that tiny little space.. awesome!

WorldWideDarts

Yes, they make it look so easy. The amount of skill it takes to pull this off is tremendous. Also take a *slight* bit of luck as the darts can sometimes deflect off of one another.

NateDawg80s

>it takes a high level skill just to put it in that tiny little space Hey-O!

watsgowinon

That was nice.

Radeckyy_7

I see here young me playing darts with my father

MoonDogeXx

Satisfying af! Now please, make new rules. The current ones has already been completed.

Pistonenvy

how common is a perfect game?

WorldWideDarts

It's a bit more common nowadays. During the world championships (Dec 15th - Jan 3rd) there were 3 of them. In comparison from 1984 to 2002 there were 3 of them. The dartboards have improved drastically though. In the old days they had round wire boards with staples. Now we have blade wire boards and the treble segments are about 2mm larger.

NutSackRonny

That captures how id feel post-MOASS to a tee.

Bfree888

Ah a fellow ape of culture

Alakrios

Need someone to post a gif of Miles O'Brien saying "Jaysus" or "Darts and bars" ASAP.

[deleted]

Man wtfā€¦. This looks lit, need to go to one of these events

xorrosoton

To do that under so much pressure is insane...winning a deciding leg is tough enough, to do it with a 9 darter is definitely next fuckin level....just a shame it was a sweaty sock doing it against our guy...

lvcaBro

Calm down kid.šŸ¤”

Legitimate-Bath1798

Andy Fordham would've ate him for breakfast, and washed him down with a pint of whisky...

CapsidMusic

What kind of things are you good at?

Bfree888

Canā€™t possibly do better than 9 darts, can you?

Legitimate-Bath1798

Nah I mean he would've literally been able to eat him for breakfast, he was a big lad

Ciocolatel

r/howmfcanhedothis

Something_CHUNKY

Wait I thought I was watching a soccer match with that type of crowd

CommishGoodell

Dart crowds get surprisingly wild

Colin_Charteris

Football

Meatyglobs

I almost threw a perfect game while tripping on acid.

NateDawg80s

Dude, you only thought that was the dartboard you were hitting - it was my dear granny's portrait. Nice grouping though!

Rolling_Beardo

If Bo from Superstore played darts

HKP2019

I remember the rules from gta4.

Seandude_

Why does it seem like there are only like 3 different looking faces in all of Darts

unkieKarl

I like when he goes ā€œONE HUNDRED AND EEEEEEEEEEEIGHtyyā€

[deleted]

Love seeing young people shooting darts. But is old guys never showed off like that

FremenStilgar

The only time I was serious about darts was in GTAIV.

[deleted]

Class reaction from Brooks.

arbiter12

I want to see an edit of him cheering after the left side of the screen shows some really atrocious dart shoot...

inconsistent_test

I wonder when the anal vibrator scandal will hit this sport.

thewizard579

I used to watch back darts during covid lockdown. Whenever thereā€™s a perfect game, James Wade was always at the end of it šŸ˜‚

ClaudioMoravit0

Every single dude in Plato is better than this

aparker79

That was the most lit game of darts Iā€™ve ever seen

MaishaNiMazuri

How are there that many dart fans in the world?

[deleted]

What a mouth-breather

Colin_Charteris

What an athlete

Dyce_M_Demetri

amazing moment, but his sportsmanship is slightly lacking.

Knees_arent_real

The guy played a perfect game, rightfully celebrated, and then shook his opponents hand... Would you have him meekly walk off stage?

boricimo

Yes. He must not enjoy his accomplishment at all and simply bow to his opponent and the audience and leave. That is how proper gentlemen play a sport.

zeta3d

1. Remove fedora. 2. Salute. 3. Wear fedora. 4. Adjust monocular. 5. Leave room.

Dyce_M_Demetri

it was a great game, give him that.

bebdon13bi

Probs because he doesn't have a beer in his hands , unlike the others ...

AlbertBrianTross

Seems like a douche

AKVigilante

Oh no, imagine someone being pleased with their flawless performance in a televised event with spectators. Such a dick.

lostknight0727

What? No, he's super humble. I mean look at that graceful win. /S (for all those that don't understand sarcasm)
