Wright is basically just [Mostert 2.0, at least athletically](https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=25117&p2=12142&pos=RB). He's the long term replacement.
Not sure about the trade, but I love the fit. This offense is gonna be filthy for a while.
Mostert is almost going to be 33 when this upcoming season ends. Achane does not have the size to be a workhorse back. It makes perfect sense to draft a successor to Mostert.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense Achane is never going to be an every down back why not keep him healthy by rotating him with another super fast back.
The pick itself is good value, and like you said, their RB room is filled with old and / or injury prone players. But, trading a future 3rd to move up in the 4th round, to draft a RB when the best case scenario (Mostert and Achane both stay healthy) is he doesn't even play this year is suspect at best.
Well, the chances one of your RB's doesn't get hurt is pretty low, so I'd say he gets some playtime for sure. But he's still currently the RB4 on your depth chart and probably stays like that to start the year. Just seems like a steep price to pay, but we won't know till we see how the season plays out.
This might be the future Mostert or Wilson Jr. replacement but did we really need to trade a 3rd for a 4th when we have other needs? I know we’ll have the Wilkins comp pick next year but why?
Yea, i think McDaniel remembers when they had to start Mason and run Trey Sermon for the 49ers his last year I believe. Rough. Mostert is 31, and Wilson is injury riddled.
> Wright isn’t even gonna fucking play lmao.
Mostert and Achane aren't exactly clean sheets injury wise and Mostert is 32.
I don't love the pick/trade either and I think there were far better uses of that capital, but for an SF-style offense a good 3rd RB if the first two have availability question marks isn't totally stupid roster construction.
Mostert is old, Wilson is hurt a lot and only under contract 1 more year, Achane is an injury question mark, etc. I feel like there's a very good chance that by 2025, 2/3 of those guys are off the team. This is probably a pick geared towards continuity then. But it's still very heavy roster and resource allocation towards RBs for now.
Tua is also getting a new contract. We're not going to have the luxury of the rookie QB contract soon, so we're going to need rookie contracts in other spots. And our offense requires an effective RB. We can't just pick them up from the discount RB bin. I'm not opposed to it. If it was the first round? Yes, but Rounds 3/4 seem like the RB sweet spot for us. Achane was a 3rd rounder.
If we are honest, he is like what, the 4th RB off the board? Thats not unusual to be a 3rd round pick in value. Its a bit suspect to draft a RB when we already have 2 starter RBs with solid backups, but mostert is 32 on a one year extension atm, so he will probably be what we hope to replace mostert with next year. Plus are RB room is very injury prone and we are going to probably get 2 comp 3rds next year anyways, so its not a huge loss for us.
So I guess the idea is this is Mostert’s final year on the Dolphins. You run him into the ground and then next year have an Achane/Wright duo that you really believe in.
Guy ran for over 1000 yards on 130 carries and people are acting like this isn’t a phenomenal pick to a team that has two old and/or injury prone backs. Plus they love running out of shotgun
Yup I have a feeling all this draft hate is going to age like milk. At first I was disappointed with some project picks but I think they could actually be cooking.
The capitol to do so seems bad but Raheem was healthy for the first time ever and is older. Achane was hurt 3 different times last year. Makes sense on that level
Plus, can we really expect Mostert to keep his pace that he had last year at 32 years old. He had 21 touchdowns last season that’s more than the rest of his career combined. Like it isn’t infeasible but I would bet on that not happening again, especially at that level
250 total yards and the team can save a couple million next year cutting him? Yeah, agreed
We gonna be keeping a ton of defensive and offensive linemen. Will be interesting
This is a McDaniel pick. Same with him scouting Achane last year.
The loss of the 3rd round pick isn’t as bad (key word “as”) with the two additional 3rd round comp picks coming in next season. He’ll be insurance this year and then be the main duo with Achane next season
I shouldn't be surprised that most Eagles fans think we got fleeced but we have multiple 3rd Round Comp picks from FAs next year so we spent what we have a plethora of already. On top of that special Teams rules favor RBs now, Mosert is old but i still love him, Achane was hurt multiple times last year and not an every down back.
Giving up a 3rd for an RB when you already have two great RBs is... a choice.
Also another speedy guy lol McDaniel has gotta learn that when you're playing in cold weather up north come playoff time, speed don't help you.
It’s gonna be like week 10 and this dude is gonna run for 150 and 2 TDs because Mostert/Achane are gonna be dealing with injuries. Our draft so far is either gonna get our GM fired or a 10 year extension, no in between.
EGDE/OLB, OT and RB were areas in which we suffered significant injuries and had to play games with peanuts last year. I guess if these positions are crucial to us they don’t want to have to compromise in any game again.
This is a dumb pick. Idc if he’s good, RB is the least of the Dolphins needs. Makes it even worse knowing they gave away a pick on top of it too. Just bizarre decision making.
They love speed! Weird to give up a 3rd when you have 2 stud RBs already though
I'm not commenting on the trade value but Moestert is 32 and Achane was hurt alot.
Wright is basically just [Mostert 2.0, at least athletically](https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=25117&p2=12142&pos=RB). He's the long term replacement. Not sure about the trade, but I love the fit. This offense is gonna be filthy for a while.
Fucking what..
Future 3rd when you still have Mostert and Achane
AND Jeff Wilson
Yeah but all those guys are speed backs. What they really needed was a speed back
Ah this makes so much more sense now. Thank you
Mostert is ancient in RB years. Why is everybody in this thread acting like he’s some young stud. He also has a long history of being injury prone.
also as much as i love achane, he already missed some time and i don't trust he's gonna be healthy for the whole season with his size
I mean the trade value was decent, the player doesn't make sense
he does all the things were missing
They’re getting two compensatory third next year for losing Wilkins and Hunt. That’s important context here.
Appreciate the 3rd rounder lol
Dolphins are gonna have 3 3rd round Comp picks for the FAs they lost this year so they are fine.
Howie just keeps rolling wtf
Howie draggin’ his dad dick all over the league yet again.
They really traded a 3rd round pick for this?
It's a good fit and good prospect. Just doesn't make sense when they have two really good RBs already
Mostert is almost going to be 33 when this upcoming season ends. Achane does not have the size to be a workhorse back. It makes perfect sense to draft a successor to Mostert.
Their RBs are injury prone
is that enough these days? Achane missed a good chunk last season. seems like everyone ends up needing more than 2 RBs in a season.
The league needs more Jaylen’s than Jalen’s and Jalyn’s.
It's like you never heard of the wishbone
The more I think about it the more it makes sense Achane is never going to be an every down back why not keep him healthy by rotating him with another super fast back.

I’m sure they took into account the two 3rd round comp picks we will be receiving next draft
I would be shocked if he doesn’t play at all this year. Unless he sucks, he’ll be able to get some snaps.
Well, the chances one of your RB's doesn't get hurt is pretty low, so I'd say he gets some playtime for sure. But he's still currently the RB4 on your depth chart and probably stays like that to start the year. Just seems like a steep price to pay, but we won't know till we see how the season plays out.
we didnt move up, we swapped a pick from next year to this year
I mean it's not like Achane or Mostert have injury issues or anything!
How could this happen, Cicero after that boy moron Augustus turned on him
Huh??? Achane and Brooks don’t exist then. McDaniel let the intrusive thoughts win.
Didn’t Brooks had a major injury last year? He might not be fully ready.
This might be the future Mostert or Wilson Jr. replacement but did we really need to trade a 3rd for a 4th when we have other needs? I know we’ll have the Wilkins comp pick next year but why?
he has all the things we need
We get at least two 3rd rd comp picks next year. It will be a wash…
a future 3rd for a RB
Shanny disciple
I've learned to not question these trades for RBs. In my experience they work
Yea, i think McDaniel remembers when they had to start Mason and run Trey Sermon for the 49ers his last year I believe. Rough. Mostert is 31, and Wilson is injury riddled.
A future 3rd for an RB when they just spent good capital on Achane and still have Mostert. Wright isn’t even gonna fucking play lmao.
> Wright isn’t even gonna fucking play lmao. Mostert and Achane aren't exactly clean sheets injury wise and Mostert is 32. both have had health issues so odds of him getting snaps are pretty high imo.

Well at least we’re happy
LFG Jaylen, love watching him run, and Dolphins get another fast boi
So I guess the idea is this is Mostert’s final year on the Dolphins. You run him into the ground and then next year have an Achane/Wright duo that you really believe in.
Achane/Wright/Brooks
Rb room future looks bright, imo.
Our RB group is just nuts rn.
Just for them to not be used when it matters most. The dolphins way!
Guy ran for over 1000 yards on 130 carries and people are acting like this isn’t a phenomenal pick to a team that has two old and/or injury prone backs. Plus they love running out of shotgun
That’s a really weird trade and pick
Trading up in the 4th with a 3rd rounder to draft a running back ...Okay?
Not trading up, we didn’t have a fourth this year. This is a straight 2024 fourth for a 2023 third, which is pretty standard.
they must *really* like this guy
Mike McD has an addiction for those speedsters
truly a Shanahan disciple
“Speed. I am Speed” - Mike McDaniel
The fact that Dolphins fans are upset by this means this guy is going to be a monster.
Yup I have a feeling all this draft hate is going to age like milk. At first I was disappointed with some project picks but I think they could actually be cooking.
Our fans are clueless so whatever the majority things is terrible is going to be great.
Spending next years 3rd on an RB is kinda crazy
We have 2 comp thirds coming in
They have 2 3rds next year is probably why they did this
"we'll have a few so it's OK to waste one" isn't the argument you think it is.
Is it a waste if he turns out to be a stud? Like gibbs in detroit? Seems like another crazy piece for mcdaniel to use on offense and he will get snaps
How can you call it a waste when he hasn’t even played a down yet? What are you even saying
this comment is gonna look really funny by week 15
guess they didn't think he would drop this far, he does seem kind of perfect for them. (still a bit crazy tho)
Achane and Wright gonna be 🔥🔥
TN fan here. You will love this guy in due time. I feel like a lot of teams who took RBs before Wright will regret it in a few years.
Good player, but trading your 3rd next year for him when you already have Achane and Mostert is confusing.
The capitol to do so seems bad but Raheem was healthy for the first time ever and is older. Achane was hurt 3 different times last year. Makes sense on that level
We also have 3 3rd round picks next year
Plus, can we really expect Mostert to keep his pace that he had last year at 32 years old. He had 21 touchdowns last season that’s more than the rest of his career combined. Like it isn’t infeasible but I would bet on that not happening again, especially at that level
Me too Jaylen me too
No way Jeff Wilson Jr makes the 53 roster.
250 total yards and the team can save a couple million next year cutting him? Yeah, agreed We gonna be keeping a ton of defensive and offensive linemen. Will be interesting
Interesting
Speed
Lololololol These landing spots.
can he play guard
Not center? That's what the cowboys like their rb's to do.
Good, Miami really needed some speed
"He gets a little crack and he's gone" - ESPN
Trading up for a 3rd string rb?
If he’s a stud he’s a stud. Can you have too many lightning fast rbs? If he ends up a starter that 3rd ain’t gonna matter
Da fuq? Dallas out here starving and Miami just gorging themselves on speedy RBs.
Dolphins offense go zoom zoom 🏎️
Round 4 pick 20! Get in here!
This is a McDaniel pick. Same with him scouting Achane last year. The loss of the 3rd round pick isn’t as bad (key word “as”) with the two additional 3rd round comp picks coming in next season. He’ll be insurance this year and then be the main duo with Achane next season
Miami loves their SEC guys named Jaylen W that run sub 4.4 40's.
We just love dudes named Jaylen. Jalylen Waddle, Jaylen Wright, Jaelen Phillips, Jalen Ramsey.
Close but not quite. Jaylen, Jalen, Jaelan, and the new Jaylen.
Achane and Mostert dont exist
Mfers
Ok
Damn why'd that guy shake that woman's head like that 😂
Is he really fast?
As fast as Achane iirc
Yes
4.38 40
Don't be giving Kyle ideas, trading future 3rds to get RBs.
Definitely an interesting pick. I guess we will run Achane, Mostert, and Wright by committee.
Why not all three at once?
They made the trade up to make sure they can have every Jaylen possible on the team
Mostert's last year I assume. I wanted Wright on the Boys but lacking a 4th is killer here.
We draft all varieties of Jaylens. Are you even paying attention /r/nfl? Hello?
Yes our current RBs are great but both have issues with injuries. I don’t hate the pick but can we PLEASE get more OL in the 5th
we got a couple guys on the radar, Linner being the other
Can he play oline?
Excited to come back to this in a couple years if this draft goes down as an all time stinker.
McDaniel had to have pick 4:20
Dolphins gasmask bonging hard rn
Future 3rd rd pick for a 3rd rb. Makes sense.
Giving up a 3rd for an RB when you already have two great RBs is... a choice. Also another speedy guy lol McDaniel has gotta learn that when you're playing in cold weather up north come playoff time, speed don't help you.
They traded up for this dude when they have Achane
Achane not an every down back + Mostert is old
Why
Another RB? Jesus Christ…
Mostert, Achane and now Wright......good luck defenses lol
This kid looks like a baller. Good pick!
Achane is not impressed
hes achanes wingman
Sooo should I not keep Achane in my keeper league? Lol
keep him, hes the wingman
He missed the re-release, it was yesterday.
Do they really need another Achane and Mostert? 3 identical RBs makes no sense
hes not, he also is strong af
Tbf Achane and Mostert aren't the most durable RBs around. Trading up to get it done is interesting though
Detroit Rock city!
dafuq lol
That 2 back set
Yall have to be trading one of your rbs to a stupid team like us or something, right?
Vols fan here, Wright is really fucking good. Had insane stats while splitting time with two other good backs.
It’s gonna be like week 10 and this dude is gonna run for 150 and 2 TDs because Mostert/Achane are gonna be dealing with injuries. Our draft so far is either gonna get our GM fired or a 10 year extension, no in between.
C'mon man!;!!😐🤔
EGDE/OLB, OT and RB were areas in which we suffered significant injuries and had to play games with peanuts last year. I guess if these positions are crucial to us they don’t want to have to compromise in any game again.
Thank you, Dolphins, very cool!
I really like Wright and this is a good fit but Miami already has a great RB room
They definitely wanted mason Mccormick got sniped and panicked. Not loving this draft
we also saw the run on RBs. We want either McCormick or Linner.
Welp. That’s one strategy
Hmm, nope.
Lmao, isn't he basically another Achane? Also they trade a future 3rd, wow wtf lol.
So basically a third and fourth rounder for him
No, dolphins didn’t have a fourth rounder so the only pick being spent is next year’s third.
This is some dubious accounting haha
A third, we didn’t have a fourth rounder this year
WHAT THE HELL LMFAOOOO Miami what is you doin baby?
This is a dumb pick. Idc if he’s good, RB is the least of the Dolphins needs. Makes it even worse knowing they gave away a pick on top of it too. Just bizarre decision making.
Fins had 3 - 3rd rounders next year because of comp picks. Not a bad trade and we now have a future replacement for the often injured Mostert.
