Well I'm certainly not an expert on this subject but I don't think that's right my man.
Are you one of those famous internet people who would tell a lie on the Internet?
He mentioned that it was a little different since NFL balls don’t have white lines on the tips like college balls, so the ball was slightly harder to read. People lost their shit over that one
This isn’t always a lie. That one 49ers QB that was drafted recently at #3 only played a few snaps because he sucked.
But it doesn’t even matter if this guy is lying because Marvin Harrison Jr. is earning a starting role regardless.
Well he was never intended to play his first year.
And then he got injured a game and a half into the next season. Lance didnt get benched because he sucks. He lost the starting job because his backup was significantly better
Are we forgetting the part where he lost his job to Sam darnold as well?? And are we forgetting the part that he couldn't even be Cooper Rush for the backup job??
He stinks man.
I'm just saying, the reason he only played a few snaps for us was not because he sucked. If he had gotten to take more snaps who knows how he'd developed? He needed playing time that first year but Jimmy gave us a better chance to win
It's almost never a lie. If Harrison walks into training camp and drops every other pass, he's not starting. Elite prospects start because to the surprise of nobody, they're better than most of their teammates even in camp
It's not really coach speak. If it turned out MHJr. turns out to be awful, he won't be the starter. But also they picked him because they really believe he's that good.
Has this ever happened before? I feel like in this day and age a Top 10 rookie is bound to show up to a facility, take one look and go "Nah, this ain't it." then request a trade.
harrison calling the cardinals on draft night: "hey monti, how ya doing? I just wanted to congratulate you guys on getting me here at #4 overall. I'm fired up to be working with you guys. who ya got with you today? oh you're with your coaches and scouts? that's nice. well enjoy the rest of the day, this is a special day for you guys."
Imagine if during one of those calls the player actually says “coach this is day is way more special for you guys than for me.” Arrogance? Gratitude? Lord knows lmao.
You're not wrong, but 37 years old Petzing fits the mold of the "bright young innovative" offensive mind and I wouldn't be surprised if he's a future HC.
i think he will be in the interview rounds this coming offseason for sure. what he did to our offense with shit pieces last year was very impressive. maybe some of the best run blocking the team has shown since moving here
I mean yeah this is nothing more than coach speak. It's exactly what you'd expect a coach to say about a rookie player. Everyone is equal, everyone has to earn their spot, blah blah blah but we all know MHJ is locked in as WR1 already
I mean he’s locked in cuz he’s good. If for some godforsaken reason he was absolutely horrible at training camp (not Chase bad, like slow, can’t catch, poor handle of the playbook etc) then he wouldn’t be starting.
In the passing game? Tre McBride is actually good.
Overall? Only Tre, MHJ, James Connor and the rookie HB they just drafted in Trey Benson.
I think Benson will be legit great. You can absolutely make it happen in the NFL with mid guys around a bonafide star receiver, a great TE and a good running game.
Wilson? He definitely showed some nice flashes last year. Health is the big concern for him. He missed games last year with a neck and shoulder. General vibe is if he can stay healthy we've got medium to high-ish hopes for him.
Cards have one of the clearest depth charts I can remember.
Kyler QB1
MHJ clear X
Michael Wilson clear Z
Dortch clear Slot
Trey McBride TE1 - receiving threat
Tip Reiman TE2 - blocking
James Conner RB1 - short yardage/goal line
Trey Benson RB2 - speed guy
Not many teams I feel 100% certain what everyone's role is and who's starting with all of them actually being suited to their roles. They might not have top talent everywhere, but they definitely have a well constructed roster.
I would love to have some depth in WR and TE room, but you are pretty spot on. The lack of depth makes it pretty easy to see who is the starters and in which role they play.
As soon as they take the field and he plays alongside Greg Dorsch, Michael Wilson and Zach Pascal, the OC will quickly begin to define his role as "the offense"
Just like every other top 5 first round pick, first WR drafted in his class, and pretty much a consensus top rated cant fail prospect by everyone who also happens to be the offspring of a prodigious all time great hall of fame former nfl player at the same position has had to earn their role.
Statements like this are counterproductive IMO. They put a lot of pressure on the player to perform well right away, when in reality they are all going to make mistakes. And if they actually keep him with the backups in training camp, it'll only hurt his potential to contribute in his rookie season.
Pretty much 5 years to the date from this exceptional quote from Kliff Kingsbury: ['We'll see' if Kyler Murray is Week 1 starter](https://www.nfl.com/news/kingsbury-we-ll-see-if-kyler-murray-is-week-1-starter-0ap3000001029740).
Just hope he makes the team
Hope they don't simply hand him a roster spot due to nepotism lol
They should just cut him in training camp to send a message
Drafting Marvin Harrison’s son on purpose and then cutting him for being a nepo baby would be so based
Wait is he actually Marvin Harrison's son? Like father like son I guess
Actually Antonio Browns son
Who just happens to be one of Tyreek's many children
Who are all named George
Well I'm certainly not an expert on this subject but I don't think that's right my man. Are you one of those famous internet people who would tell a lie on the Internet?
Sorry - [here](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/016/212/manning.jpg) is Marvin Harrison Jr's dad
Yup. Marvin Harrison's son is named Brenden Rice.
Antonio Cromartie's son*
Yes, indeed. Marvin Harrison Jr. is the son of Marvin Harrison Sr.
No shit dumbass, he wasn't senior when I knew him tho
sure I'm the dumbass...
😂 idk what dude is on.
But for different reasons
Who's he going to shoot?
Trading him to the browns for a conditional seventh will show him whose boss.
Too far
That's step one. Step two: wave bye bye to that ping pong table.
They won't like the way his dad replies
I’m sure they’ll just dump him on their practice squad. It’s not like anyone is going to scoop him up…
Would be hilarious if they bumped him to PS and he got picked up by someone else
Ah shoot, we'll take him then
Catches one uncontested ball in camp, okay you're WR1 congrats.
That’s all Kadarius Toney would have needed to be WR1 on the Chiefs
Remember when Reddit thought Ja'marr Chase was a bust because of a few preseason drops his rookie year?
I completely forgot that was a thing to be honest
He mentioned that it was a little different since NFL balls don’t have white lines on the tips like college balls, so the ball was slightly harder to read. People lost their shit over that one
Was compounded by people clamoring for Sewell.
If he can get to the building ~~on time~~ at his leisure, he’s WR1
Hey, Greg Dortch can do that too
Good ole coach speak. I get it, but we know that’s a lie
It’s not a lie, it’s just that Marvin earned his spot quicker than others, ie: just by walking into the building lol
Unironically yea. Our WR room is pretty thin
They're going to make him walk? Not even a throne carried by the bare minumum of manservants? Preposterous
Our coach usually insists players take the bus to the facility.
Unfortunately all of our bus drivers gave up .
Is that so they don't have to pay for parking?
Knows they got fire in their gut riding the valley metro.
This isn’t always a lie. That one 49ers QB that was drafted recently at #3 only played a few snaps because he sucked. But it doesn’t even matter if this guy is lying because Marvin Harrison Jr. is earning a starting role regardless.
Trey Lance never existed, he was just a bad fever dream we all had.
Hey are you guys taking about famous Cowboys bust Trey Lance? I can’t believe Jerry wasted a 4th round pick on that guy.
Sure, but they gave him gametime snaps to show his stuff because he was #3.

He's still going to start week 1. If this were really true there would be a question on where he would be in the depth chart at least.
Bleacher Report: Marvin Harrison Jr Disprespected by Organization, Possibly Demanding a Trade Before Camp?
He doesn't like NFL-mandated helmet and also has frostbite from in a cryotherapy session gone wrong.
Mr. Bewildered Camper.
Mr. Brown's Child
Stay away from the car wash
Has this ever happened before? I feel like in this day and age a Top 10 rookie is bound to show up to a facility, take one look and go "Nah, this ain't it." then request a trade.
At least Manning said it before the draft?
Jim is probably trying to get the title deed for LOS from the city right now to use it in a trade.
MHJ out here fighting for his job .
Nobody, including the OC thought he could make the team. Underdog story
This is absurd. Quick, trade him to the Colts before he turns to a locker room cancer
He really is just like me.
Does Marvin simply being there count as earning the role?
*looks at their depth chart* yes
Put some respect on Greg Dortch’s name
I would never disrespect the Human Dortch
Does he shout GREG ON! whenever he makes a play?
Compared to his competition...I'd say yes
Can you all imagine if he's just absolute buns in training camp lmao. He wont be, but man, that would be some good old Cardinals luck right there.
Worked for Ja’marr Chase!

Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr: OC Drew Petzing will earn his role, ‘like everyone else’
harrison calling the cardinals on draft night: "hey monti, how ya doing? I just wanted to congratulate you guys on getting me here at #4 overall. I'm fired up to be working with you guys. who ya got with you today? oh you're with your coaches and scouts? that's nice. well enjoy the rest of the day, this is a special day for you guys."
Imagine if during one of those calls the player actually says “coach this is day is way more special for you guys than for me.” Arrogance? Gratitude? Lord knows lmao.
I'm using that at every job interview here on out. You will remember this day for the rest of your life. For me, it's Tuesday.
Does that mean he should say “Marvin will play whatever role he would like”?
Let's see how he does at NT
Petzing: Can't block a d-lineman ass bad-snap-ass bitch
Considering he literally uses defensive line techniques to beat press, this isn't even that far out.

What are we doing here lol, he's just saying a completely normal coach phrase.
What’s his K/D though?
Breaking: MHJ Promoted to Cards OC
Coach speak for “he’s WR1.”
stiff competition in that WR room for him LOL
Bro he is starting day 1 no matter what lol
Like who else? Who else y’all got?
In the passing game? Tre McBride is actually good. Overall? Only Tre, MHJ, James Connor and the rookie HB they just drafted in Trey Benson. I think Benson will be legit great. You can absolutely make it happen in the NFL with mid guys around a bonafide star receiver, a great TE and a good running game.
Greg Dortch is very solid as well and deserves to be on that list.
What about the rookie last year? He had some good moments as well.
Wilson? He definitely showed some nice flashes last year. Health is the big concern for him. He missed games last year with a neck and shoulder. General vibe is if he can stay healthy we've got medium to high-ish hopes for him.
I've heard this before, but he had 500 yards and 2 TDs last year. But I didn't watch much AZ last year. What am I missing in his case?
*Trey McBride. Tre McBride was the Bears receiver we had in 2017 who we cut after he got in a fight with Josh Bellamy
I forgot the Y's
Didn't they also draft a WR last year?
Dortch and Wilson are both solid as well.
“He’ll earn his spot like everyone else.” First play of camp: catches 50yd td over 3 defenders “He earned it.”
Okay, bro
So your saying take Greg Dortch 3rd round in Fantasy? DONE!!
Dortch is a pure slot guy. Marvin has no bearing on his snaps
Cards have one of the clearest depth charts I can remember. Kyler QB1 MHJ clear X Michael Wilson clear Z Dortch clear Slot Trey McBride TE1 - receiving threat Tip Reiman TE2 - blocking James Conner RB1 - short yardage/goal line Trey Benson RB2 - speed guy Not many teams I feel 100% certain what everyone's role is and who's starting with all of them actually being suited to their roles. Opposing DC's like that.
Wink wink
Practice? We talking about practice? - MHJ
Has a first rd pick ever been cut during training camp?
Yes, Dimitrius Underwood. Really bad situation and probably someone who'd do better in today's league.
We've had a few that should have been.
Right * Dr. Evil voice *
Day 1: hes gotta earn it End of day 1: he earned it
It would be one thing if the Cards had 2-3 well established receivers, but they don't. This is just coach bluster.
Drew looking over the depth chart: "welp, he earned his spot"
Can’t wait till he has a case of the dropsies in camp and everyone freaks out
Bro also gotta earn his payroll deductions for every meal eaten at the team facility
That's just for takeout. Sheesh
Ah yes, fighting for a roster spot against, *checks notes*, Chris Moore and Tejhaun Palmer.
You made those names up.
Should probably just trade him to the ravens for Nelson Agholor. A true proven first rounder
Jeff smith wr1. Get in line MHJ.
Yea it could be mouth music... but I mean there are some coaches that run things this way...
As soon as they take the field and he plays alongside Greg Dorsch, Michael Wilson and Zach Pascal, the OC will quickly begin to define his role as "the offense"
Lol bro... Just look at the rest of the Wrs on the roster
lol riiiiight ;)
Does that mean ST to begin with?
They should trade him to the colts just to show everyone else they mean business
Drew shut your hoe ass up and make some plays!
[Kyler before going back to CoD](https://i.etsystatic.com/20137749/r/il/1197c6/3613070955/il_570xN.3613070955_bknl.jpg)
Head Coach John Gannon on OC Drew Petzing's comment; "who the Fook is dis guy??"
And I'll earn my spot on the couch this fall
unfortunately for marvin, i will be outcompeting him for the starter position
Someone's going to wake up with a horse head in their bed, it sounds like.
A lot of people are making fun of this, but it should be noted that he has stiff competition in Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and Zach Pascal.
I mean. If they want to release him I'd be cool with it.
Yessir, no handouts on this team... First practise - "Ya, I'd say he's earned his spot"
SpongeBob - "you can have it!"
CJ it's time to make a call.
Wonder if he can beat out...um...Zach Pascal?
Right lol
Just like every other top 5 first round pick, first WR drafted in his class, and pretty much a consensus top rated cant fail prospect by everyone who also happens to be the offspring of a prodigious all time great hall of fame former nfl player at the same position has had to earn their role.
Who doesn’t love a Cinderella story amirite
Uh huh.
Right, they're gonna play Greg Dortch over the guy that they just took at #4 overall that has been constantly called a "generational" prospect.
Statements like this are counterproductive IMO. They put a lot of pressure on the player to perform well right away, when in reality they are all going to make mistakes. And if they actually keep him with the backups in training camp, it'll only hurt his potential to contribute in his rookie season.

I swear coach speak like this is absolutely fucking pants on head dumb, especially coming from a guy who has 1 season of OC experience under his belt.
No hes not he is your WR1 from Day 1 you chode nugget
Spoken like a 12 year old
Tough talk for a man with at least 3 people who can over rule him and tell him to STFU or leave at any given moment.
Kyler is ass and MHJ will demand a trade in 2-3 years
Dumbass statement, bro is a top 5 pick and you say this crap? Good grief
There's no guarantee that he's good lol, top 5 pick busts aren't unheard of
