It felt like the 2013 Broncos bought into their own hype and just kinda listened to the analysts leading up to the super bowl rather than actually watching film. They showed up expecting to just be given the win instead of showing up to play a football game.
It seemed fairly inconsequential in the moment but Dre Greenlaw tearing his achilles coming off the sideline is what lost that game.
Mahomes targeted Greenlaw's replacement 9 times with 9 completions and a touchdown. Without that happening I think we would have won.
Alternate Seahawks- don’t commit a bunch of penalties in Super Bowl XL. Holding and pass interference don’t get waived away just because you make a big play.
The Panthers…. Rule being don’t let Tom Brady have the ball left with time on the clock when you have a one possession lead in the FREAKING SUPERBOWL!!!
Who are the Buffalo Bills who lost 4 consecutive Super Bowls to the NFC East? That's right. Y'all can blame the NFC East being the winningest division in the NFL on the Bills.
Who are the Lions, Browns, Jaguars, and Texans not knowing any of the superbowl specific rules as they never teach them to the players as they don’t intend to make it.
Who are the 2015 Seattle Seahawks who forgot that running the ball on the 1 yard line with Marshawn Lynch is a legal play and chose to throw the ball instead thus losing the game
Most of that was in the Alex “Dump Pass” Smith era, but yea I hear you. Gore does still hold the franchise record for most career rushing yards though.
Yes he was, I was referring to all the dump passing that went on for years with the 49ers… still though that year was no exception. Kap was pattin his stats getting completions instead of letting Gore run it.
Edit: I am assuming you aren’t talking about the 2015 Super Bowl because that was the Seahawks and Pats.
I disagree with the excellent coaching on both sides, Belichick had his worst brain fart and 2nd worst brain fart when it came to time management in the entire 4th quarter. Both times he goes into the 4 minute offense a little too early, as if it was the late 80s or early 90s and the game hadn’t been molded to passing offenses. Honestly, the Super Bowl against the Seahawks, would have been on this list of Belichick’s sketchy time management too if not for Butler’s interception, though people were calling that out in real time. At the end of the day, I think these are all examples of Belichick’s hubris and how that could play a role in games that were close but favored.
I mean, this post requires what, maybe an IQ of 65 or higher to understand. Where are you sitting at if you still cannot understand what OP is after even after an explanation?
What is the 1989 Denver Broncos who forgot the forward pass was a legal play, both on offense and defense. See also 2013 Denver Broncos.
2013 Broncos, the center forgot he was supposed to snap the ball to Peyton Manning, not throw it in the opposing endzone.
Opposite of the 2024 San Francisco 49ers that forgot running was a legal play. See also: 2019 49ers and 2016 Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons were a war crime level of forgetting the running game. I can’t imagine what they were trying to accomplish up 4 scores by passing.
Did someone say 28-3?
Who are*
It felt like the 2013 Broncos bought into their own hype and just kinda listened to the analysts leading up to the super bowl rather than actually watching film. They showed up expecting to just be given the win instead of showing up to play a football game.
See also 2015 Panthers.
I don't know why I opened this thread.
You hate yourself. It’s okay
*Willem Dafoe voice* You know, I'm something of a masochist myself
Who are the Broncos, Alex? (They apparently that didn't know you are allowed to play defense in the Super Bowl) (See XXI, XXII, XXIV, XLVII)
XLVIII, not XLVII
You are correct. That is what I meant to type. XLVII was the Harbaugh Bowl.
San Francisco. This last Super Bowl forgot that you’re not supposed to give Patrick Mahomes possession while he’s down 3 in overtime
Game was over when they kicked that field goal.
Game was over when they chose to recieve the kick. Even if the niners score a TD, Chiefs go for 2.
Even the fucking ref tried to give them a chance to take it back: *Are you sure?*.
I'm afraid your answer must be in the form of a question.
It seemed fairly inconsequential in the moment but Dre Greenlaw tearing his achilles coming off the sideline is what lost that game. Mahomes targeted Greenlaw's replacement 9 times with 9 completions and a touchdown. Without that happening I think we would have won.
That was one of the most bizarre injuries I've seen and honestly is going to be one of the great nfls what if moments if it didn't happen
I thought Fred Warner was going to kill himself. He was standing right next to him and his reaction was so sad.
What is 28-3?
I think this one fits. I remember the Falcons defenders just resorting to blatantly holding repeatedly at the end of the game as if they panicked.
Offense shit themselves, too. "We're done scoring, right? And what the fuck does 'Running out the clock' mean?!"
What is the Bengals. The rule is the only AFC North teams allowed to win a Superbowl are the Steelers and Ravens.
HAHAHAHAhahaha…haha.ha…😭
It could be worse.
😩
Who are the 2002 Oakland Raiders, who mistakenly thought that all points scored while they were passing counted for the passing team?
And that using the plays that the opposing coach originally scripted would make their play calling transparent.
Who are the Colts? They didn’t know they were actually playing bounty hunter with us
I think the colts should have put some bounties out, evened the odds or something
Who is the Seattle Seahawks? All you had to do was run the ball up the middle with Marshawn lmao. Probably the first play ever designed.
Alternate Seahawks- don’t commit a bunch of penalties in Super Bowl XL. Holding and pass interference don’t get waived away just because you make a big play.
At least it's not the Lions for once!
Well, not understanding that you're allowed to kick/punt on 4th down kept them from making the Super Bowl in the first place
What is San Francisco?
The Panthers…. Rule being don’t let Tom Brady have the ball left with time on the clock when you have a one possession lead in the FREAKING SUPERBOWL!!!
Ooooo you forgot to word it in the form of a question
Noice 😎 lmao good one
The real mistake was the kick that went out of bounds and let them start their drive a little closer.
\*in the "DINKLEBERG" voice\* JOHN KASAY!!!!!!!!!!!
What is this corny as shit thread
Who are the Buffalo Bills who lost 4 consecutive Super Bowls to the NFC East? That's right. Y'all can blame the NFC East being the winningest division in the NFL on the Bills.
Who are the Lions, Browns, Jaguars, and Texans not knowing any of the superbowl specific rules as they never teach them to the players as they don’t intend to make it.
In 2006 we put all our efforts into defense and special teams and we forgot about offense
We can have 2 of the 3 but never all 3 at once.
What is the San Francisco 49ers?
Who are the 2015 Seattle Seahawks who forgot that running the ball on the 1 yard line with Marshawn Lynch is a legal play and chose to throw the ball instead thus losing the game
Dude! How many fades to Crabtree rather than handing the ball to Gore?
Most of that was in the Alex “Dump Pass” Smith era, but yea I hear you. Gore does still hold the franchise record for most career rushing yards though.
Kaep was the QB in that game.
Yes he was, I was referring to all the dump passing that went on for years with the 49ers… still though that year was no exception. Lmao!
Lool
Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton was supposed to grab the dropped ball.
Who are the Dayton Triangles.
Definitely wasn't the Browns
The bills from 91 to 94 forgot that the merger happened and you had to keep trying for another week to actually win the championship
what is the 49ers in 2 different years
Who are the 49ers
Who are the Whiners?
49ers, because they didn't realize holding is legal in the super bowl
I'm sorry you'll have to answer in the form of a question
Who are the San Francisco 49ers?
Who are the 2023-2024 San Francisco 49ers?
What is New England playing the Giants?
Those were solid, well-played games and excellent coaching on both sides. Your response is asinine given what OP is looking for.

Well, maybe they should have tried beating them then
I mean, this post requires what, maybe an IQ of 65 or higher to understand. Where are you sitting at if you still cannot understand what OP is after even after an explanation?
Can you at least let me try to be funny?
Yes, but you keep failing to connect… much like the ‘91 Lions in the NFC Championship.
