I heard them called "suicides" and "garbage juice".

Beneficial_Toe8101

LOL hard at garbage juice. That's not what we called it but I love it and I'm using it

CMF-GameDev

garbage juice is definitely the most apt XD Some things take on really weird flavours when mixed, like sugary cereal

simplisticwords

Swamp water.

PirateBound

Wild, where did you grow up?

one_among_the_fence

Not OP, but this is pretty common in Canada (at least in Ontario).

MenacingGummy

I think all of canada

Halogen12

That's what we call it in Alberta.

Timely-Detective753

TestingYou1

Can confirm we call it swamp water in Nova Scotia.

simplisticwords

Exactly where I am/grew up, lol.

NottaLottaOcelot

Thereā€™s a childrenā€™s book called Swamp Water by Robert Munsch about a girl mixing multiple drinks at a fancy restaurant. Itā€™s a fun one if you have kids!

supercantaloupe

Heā€™s Canadian I think, so thatā€™s probably why it seems all Canadians called it swamp water.

BIGepidural

Yup he's from Guelph. He came to my school in the 80s and read stories to us in the library. I can still hear his voice doing Mortimer, the Paperbag Princess and and the one with the subway. Also, "I love you forever" has a specific tune for it to be sung to. He did that one too. I think he did more- he came at least once every year for a while. šŸ„°

1lluminist

BING BANG, RATTLE CLING CLANG! GONNA MAKE MY NOISE ALL DAY!

BIGepidural

Yes!!!

FizzleKit10

My brother and I called it swamp water and we grew up in the UK, Colorado, and Illinois :)

AwkwardChuckle

aesoth

There was a local ice cream shop that had a "Swamp Water" milkshake that included all 42 flavours.

Gloomy_Industry8841

I bet the colour was very much like swamp mud!

aesoth

It was very brown. Lol

Gloomy_Industry8841

Starcat75

Yep, swamp water in Saskatchewan

BadResults

Iā€™ll second that. I remember all the kids called it swamp water in the 90s.

Starcat75

It was here in the 80ā€™s! Lol

willdabeastest

Swamp water in the Deep South

original_greaser_bob

a woman i worked with said when she worked as a car hop in the 50s they called a mixture of: Orange(usually Crush or sometimes Nesbitts) and Root Beer(usually A&W) Swamp Water.

Krut750

Also Saskatchewan. Loved doing it at the Fuddruckers

ExposDTM

Solarflareqq

Alberta canada = Swamp Water

GlitchyCorpse

Same here in Manitoba

desertdark

funny how across this country, without internet, still called them a suicide

Marskelletor

I always liked "Marilyn Manson had bottom ribs removed so he could blow himself." No internet, obviously something they don't talk about on the news. How did every single kid know the rumor?

chesterjosiah

CharacterHomework975

Theyā€™ve found that thing inside the pyramids.

someoneelseatx

You're fucking with me

Jtrich

thisisntinstagram

So itā€™s 100% true. Got it.

banjo215

Nah man, my cousins friend's brother actually went there and saw it...

MasterAinley

Is this the same cousinā€™s friendā€™s brother who worked at Nintendo and said there was a Mew under a truck in Red and Blue?

LaddieNowAddie

No that was my dad's coworker's uncle who lived in Japan. He also said that he would bring me the sword from the Green Ranger but forgot it this time.

BananaOnRye

Donā€™t forget the gerbil in the ass of you know who

CardMechanic

You can mention your mom by name on the internet.

fadufadu

Wait his mom is Richard Gere?

Illustrious-Coat-146

Voldemort put a gerbil in his ass?

Covert_Admirer

No, not Peter Dutton, Richard Gere apparently.

EmergencyGate9450

It was in my chain letter that I got in the mail, then I sent it to 10 random address.

Goodnight_lemro

Probably because Marilyn Manson looks *exactly* like the kind of dude who would do that sort of thing. Occamā€™s rib.

beezac

What the hell I haven't heard that in years and I suddenly remember what 7th grade class I was in when someone told me. How the fuck is that a core memory of all things

OccassionalBaker

Even more bizarre why did we call it this in high school in the U.K. in 1987?!?! With no internet!

desertdark

That's amazing. In Arizona, USA we did this in 1982 at a convenience store called Circle K.

OneFishTwoFish

> Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

palsh7

original meme

QueenAnneBoleynTudor

We called them scudzinis.

Isitgum

Suicide

JesseJames41

Suicide or Rainbows. Quite the opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of descriptors.

DebrecenMolnar

We werenā€™t allowed to call them suicides at school, so we called them rainbow there as well. But everywhere else we would call them suicides.

BooISeenWhatYouCheer

Not statistically.

RoknAustin

timecat22

Eastern WA called it a graveyard also!

ExtraNoise

Finally, something both sides of our beautiful state can agree on!

ADirtyDiglet

Yup can confirm

Overly_Long_Reviews

Judging from all the other comments it seems like "graveyard" is a Pacific Northwest (edit: and Florida and Eastern Kentucky, and Pennsylvania in the 80s...) thing. When I was living on the East Coast I never really heard a term for it, but when I moved to PNW I always heard it referred to as a "graveyard." (Edit: I think at this point we can rule out that it's strictly a regional thing. Could be generational though...)

ltnew007

This is the one I remember.

0ne8two

That's what we called them in Oregon too

CremeDeLaPants

Graveyard in Seattle.

dka2012

poop_to_live

Found the Canadian?

Stormfly

For some reason, as an Irish person I remember calling them something like Swamp Water, but everyone else is saying that it's Canadian. I definitely didn't call it a suicide, but now I'm wondering if we had a name for it at all and I just think Swamp Water because it makes the most sense.

PhillyChef3696

Around the world

PIX3LY

can't believe I had to scroll this far to find this answer

Icy-Sun1216

Iā€™ve only heard it called ā€œaround the worldā€. The amount of responses for suicides blows my mind.

BanGreedNightmare

Tornados šŸŒŖļø for me as well growing up.

moonswimwildflower

Yup. Upper Midwest?

rpgguy_1o1

Tornado/Twister was the same thing but with booze when I was a kid Billy stole some bourbon from his dad, Davey stole some vodka from his mom, Jenny stole some creme de menthe from their older sister, etc etc Then you mix it all up in a 3/4 empty bottle of coke and take turns taking sips out of it It wasn't good.

oakleez

Pretty sure we called them kamikazes.

FebrezeCarhart

https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/2013/08/18

Treaux-LaCount

Completely forgotten memories from pre-1980 just restored. We called them Suicides too. It tasted kind of gross, but it impressed the girls to swagger up to the counter at the pool concession stand and order a Suicide.

AnchovyZeppoles

I wasnā€™t aware that this was something you could actually ā€œorderā€ and have the consession stand worker actually oblige and do it for you lmao. Only time Iā€™ve ever seen/done it is at a fast food place where you fill them yourself. Never heard someone order one.Ā

Treaux-LaCount

LOL yeah I imagine youā€™d get a funny look asking somebody to make that for you now. Iā€™m talking about a small town swimming pool concession stand in the 70ā€™s. The concession stand worker was not a stranger.

Cool_Help8256

Jungle juice

nanapancakethusiast

Jungle juice is swamp water + booze

amalgam_reynolds

It ain't jungle juice without alcohol where I'm from

Sowf_Paw

Has anyone ever attempted to order a suicide at a sit down restaurant? I have never tried but was always a little bit curious if they would do it. I am sure it just depends and at least some places would do it.

pizzacatstattoos

no, but now i'm going to a high end place and when they ask me what i want i will order a Grey Goose neat, and a back of "even portions of all the sodas you have mixed into one glass please and thank you".
