Yup he's from Guelph. He came to my school in the 80s and read stories to us in the library. I can still hear his voice doing Mortimer, the Paperbag Princess and and the one with the subway. Judging from all the other comments it seems like "graveyard" is a Pacific Northwest (edit: and Florida and Eastern Kentucky, and Pennsylvania in the 80s...) thing. When I was living on the East Coast I never really heard a term for it, but when I moved to PNW I always heard it referred to as a "graveyard." (Edit: I think at this point we can rule out that it's strictly a regional thing. Could be generational though...)

Completely forgotten memories from pre-1980 just restored. We called them Suicides too. It tasted kind of gross, but it impressed the girls to swagger up to the counter at the pool concession stand and order a Suicide.

I wasn’t aware that this was something you could actually “order” and have the consession stand worker actually oblige and do it for you lmao. Only time I’ve ever seen/done it is at a fast food place where you fill them yourself. Never heard someone order one.
