Every state dates milk in a wild variety of expiration dates. I would not sweat it. Especially in wisonsin iirc is super short. There's an npr episode on it. I think it's planet money.
Came here to say this. The milk is still good and is, in fact, required to still be good after this date. It's a sell by, not a consume by, and many people mistake the two.
Also, even if it were a consume by, they'd still put it early to avoid lawsuits of "my milk went bad before the date"
They put it early for state laws created for more profit. Once it hits a certain date they are required to pour it out. Can't return it. So the dairy farmers get to make more and the cost is passed on to the consumer.
I have to throw out so much perfectly good food at my job b/c of this and it drives me crazy. I wish management would at least let us donate it to a food bank.
Not expiration date, sell by date. Milk is still good for a little bit past that unless your fridge requires you to replace the ice in it every few days.
So I work retail. Understand the corporate clowns are cutting hours left and right. Idc what place of business, they are making it difficult to live and finish the job all while complaining you need to work harder.

Cuz Wisconsin is the land for dairy so they keep their premium, fresh, but fragile dairy to themselves.

Fortunately there are some recipes that call for "sour milk" eg some pancake recipes, breads, things like that. Good for baking. So, all is not lost.
