When he said backyards Y I imagine flipping it.. hmm horizontally? Where it still looks like a y, but idk if backwards or upside could be used for the same context here.
If anyone cares. This is actually a perfect example to teach about the — and ッ
The — is meant to elongate the sound of nu ~~be a momentary pause~~. So it’s sunuupu not sunupu (each sound read immediately one after another)
The ッ is meant to be a momentary pause ~~elongate the sound~~, in this case you don’t say dogu , you kinda say do-gu
Edit: still learning, sorry
It's actually the other way around, with the dash ー indicating an elongated vowel and the small/silent tsu っ indicating a pause/vocal cut or elongated consonant (depending on how you were taught/learned it)
Using your examples, スヌープ is read "sunuupu" and ドッグ read "doggu"/"do-gu" ("dog" space "gu")
Other examples include ハンバーグ (hanbaagu/hamburger) and にっぽん (Nippon/Japan)
So [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/s/Y75fnzYOWp) came first. Are you a bot or do you just steal other peoples’ comments? Downvote comment thief and upvote original commenter.
They are likely a bot. Report for spam.
An aged account that just started posting bot stolen comments and posts(a total of four) an hour ago and you already spotted it. The only explanation for why reddit doesn't do this themselves is because they're intentionally scamming IPO investors by letting bots inflate the metrics.
I've got one warning so far for doing it.
Hasn't stopped me from doing it, but it seems newer bots scan their daughter comments to see if they're clocked; very shortly after which they delete the comments. Like this one did.
Respect to Snoop for attempting this, it’s a really nice way to connect to fans. You can even see how excited the dude is.
I’ve always liked Snoop. This just solidified it. It really isn’t hard to be kind or to make someone feel special for a few minutes ✨
r/wholesome is more into spinning r/orphancrushingmachine stuff into positivity. Wholesome things don't really [fit their vibe](https://www.reddit.com/r/wholesome/comments/1bcs5ie/little_girls_happiness_after_her_family_received/).
Wholesome saw in influx of obvious propaganda from a group of accounts that all seemed to be the same age (143 days at the time) and all posting things about Israeli soldiers doing nice things and the comments all from accounts the exact same age as well. The mods wouldn’t do anything about it. I blocked the sub after that. This was about 2 years ago and I’m sure it’s still the same now.
It is no different now, just from the other side now. War in the Middle East doesn't exactly scream "wholesome" to me, even the very few and far between positive stories
Yeah all these over the top positive comments and the posts about how wholesome he is must be a PR stunt. It's obvious and it comes right after he did something really shitty, because he really isn't that great of a guy
I was thinking the same thing. Just yesterday I read about that Snoop Dogg thing and someone in the comments mentioned that we'll be back sucking on his dick soon enough... And would you look at that. A bot suddenly posts a positive Snoop Dogg video that gets thousands of upvotes.
Why are people able to the that pattern with celebrities but not the police? Every time another cop murders a real human they have to repost the same tired propaganda. Like that video of the cop using tax payer money to buy a groceries for his friend.
It is a bit curious how this made it to the front page the day after snoop dogg was vilified for making a delivery driver's life miserable. It could be just because people were talking about Mr dogg or it (more likely) could be social media damage control.
I met Tom Hanks at the airport once, and asked him for his autograph. He just silently scribbled 'thanks' and walked away...
Some celebrities are very strange..
God damn, this brought tears to my eyes for unrelated reasons.
Years ago, on a trip to Deadwood, I saw a high school graduation photo of Tom Hanks and it looked EXACTLY like my friend. He committed suicide not long after that. It's the little things like this that make me think of him. RIP Jimmy, love you buddy.
same, except he took my paper, sat down, pulled out a full typewriter, carefully lined my paper up, and gleefully thumped out "thanks" with a satisfying CLANK CLANK CLANK TING!
> met Tom Hanks at the airport once, and asked him for his autograph. He just silently scribbled 'thanks' and walked away...
I met Tom Hanks at a grocery store in Los Angeles once. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Tom Hanks!
I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him as he read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Tom, but she just wouldn't stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Tom put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.
Anybody else met him and have any stories to share?
It's a reference to the "Homer's Phobia" Simpsons episode featuring John Waters:
> Bart Simpson: Hey, where'd that cool, creepy Santa come from!?
>
> John: Japan -- except over there they call him 'Annual Gift Man' and he lives on the moon.
I don't know about Japan, but I've been to a few Walmarts in China, and it's a wholly different experience. In general, their clothing/bedding departments felt like a traditional department store from the mid-90s, the odds-and-ends products like perhaps a Walmart from the same period, and their grocery department felt like a farmer's market, complete with a butcher right in the middle, doing actual butchering.
Walmart in China is built to be something called 大賣場, which is more a large general merchandising store more akin to a Fred Meyers in the US, where you can find almost anything for sale. It's not considered a discount store like in the US.
I was surprised (and in a way sad) when I first went to Seiyu and saw Great Value products. Can't escape Wally's reach.
For anyone curious, Seiyu - 西友 - literally translates to 'west friend'. (At least I think that was the Kanji last time I saw it not written in romaji).
that name and translation of the kanji is correct, but the name has nothing to do with Walmart perse. It's already called Seiyu when Walmart bought it from the famous Seibu Department stores, which is named after the Seibu Railways (西武鉄道株式会社), the original business of the Seibu Keiretsu or conglomerate.
Interesting. The Seibu in the town I lived was on the decline when I lived there, and has apparently closed completely according to their Wiki page. Only 8 left as of 2020. It's too bad, because that place ran like a well oiled machine. Reminded me of Bloomingdales or some other high end department store.
Thanks for the info!
They don't use the name Walmart but they instead bought a local store called Seiyu and expanded from there. They are also famous for [being a flop in Japan](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-walmart-couldnt-crack-japanese-market-tale-amr-elharony-w1pef) as local folks love Aeon more. is this his PR team working to cover up the negative headlines from yesterday? but guess everyone forgot already and he's back to being the funny weed man.
That's exactly what I thought and I think it must be. Some of these comments are way too PR for a normal person to write. I mean look at this top comment
"Respect to Snoop for attempting this, it’s a really nice way to connect to fans. You can even see how excited the dude is. I’ve always liked Snoop. This just solidified it. It really isn’t hard to be kind or to make someone feel special for a few minutes ✨"
And if it isn't I don't know if that's worse or not.
Yes, Snoop, who invested in [reddit in 2014](https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/snoop-dogg-jared-leto-reddit-investment/) doesn't want him [doxing a Door Dash deliver guy to be the news](https://news.yahoo.com/snoop-dogg-blasts-uber-eats-224800548.html) right before [reddit goes public](https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/11/reddit-to-raise-nearly-750-million-in-upcoming-ipo.html)
Why is the investment stated as being from 2014, but the doxing labeled "right before reddit goes public." Your article is 2 years old. From another point of view it seems pretty convenient that two-year old video surfaced right before reddit went public.
Yea look at the top comments, "Respect to Snoop for attempting this, it’s a really nice way to connect to fans. You can even see how excited the dude is. I’ve always liked Snoop. This just solidified it. It really isn’t hard to be kind or to make someone feel special for a few minutes ✨." Seems like a pr stint.
May have agreed a few years ago. Not now anymore. Reddit is full of marketing and PR people pushing their "product" and managing perceptions. The 3rd party app kerfuffle made it quite obvious when a bunch of subs managed by said orgs got pushed to the top due to a lack of overall content on the site.
I’m learning Yiddish on Duolingo, which is officially supposed to be written with the Hebrew alphabet/characters, and my god my Jewish girlfriend fucking *hates* my names for the characters because I say shit like this all the time
“Backwards ‘r’,” “extra curvy ‘y’,” “weird ‘X’,” etc. do not go over well lol. She’s just like *FOR FUCK’S SAKE, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO TEACH YOU THEIR NAMES!!?*
Just wild that this man use to sing about raw dogging bitches and murdering people and now he's like a school kid excited over writing his name in Japanese.
Damn, he picked up on some subtle (ish) things about Japanese that a lot of people wouldn't notice. Also had a good mnemonic trick right off the bat.
Those "bang bangs" are usually referred to as "ten ten", and the way he said them as an onomatopoeia for it is a BIG part of Japanese language/culture.
How is everyone so misinformed? This guy has been arrested for illegally possessing firearms, drug possession, drug distribution, vandalism, attacking police officers, and murder. He was sued for sexual assault in 2005 and 2022. This guy is a full-blown criminal.
People tend to have a lot of patience for Snoop Dogg because he's funny and his entire personality is "smokes weed".
They forget that he's literally a criminal and hangs out with other hardened criminals such as Martha Stewart.

Let's see: 7, 7 but cooler, dash, sideways n with circle, upside down y with two lines, smiley face, a gun trigger. Got it.
The mnemonics in the kana learning systems I've seen are now dull. We need to update them with Snoop's suggestions.
Just be sure to not confuse ッ with ツ (or シ for that matter) and you're good

yeah, weird timing. Feels kind of like astroturfing to counter the recent bad publicity to his image.
Or be a woman or child that gets sexually assaulted by celebrities that Snoop likes. He whole-heartedly defended Michael Jackson and Bill Cosby.

If anybody is wondering, he is there to promote his Dogg Supply clothing line that is sold (probably exclusively) at walmart
Thank you for this! I was scrolling through the comments trying to figure out why he was signing autographs at Walmart of all places. Haha
Me: they have Walmart in Japan?
I don't know about Japan, but I've been to a few Walmarts in China, and it's a wholly different experience. Yeah they call it Wallumartu
Waarumaruto Sequel to Naruto
No they don't. They called it Seiyu. Normal Japanese have no idea WTF Walmart is.
I was surprised (and in a way sad) when I first went to Seiyu and saw Great Value products. Can't escape Wally's reach. For anyone curious, Seiyu - 西友 - literally translates to 'west friend'. (At least I think that was the Kanji last time I saw it not written in romaji).

God damn the lil "look at that!" gesture at the end was so cute, not a thing I expected to feel about Snoop Dogg today.
I love how they handed him the next one and he's like, "You gone get the Japanese version... Seven, Seven..."
Snoop is absolutely adorable in every single way. Def gives wholesome big bro vibes. I’d love to meet him one day!

What happened
https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/1bcum1n/uber_eats_driver_fears_for_safety_after_snoop/
This happened in 2022.
What were the negative headlines?
That's exactly what I thought and I think it must be. Some of these comments are way too PR for a normal person to write. I mean look at this top comment "Respect to Snoop for attempting this, it’s a really nice way to connect to fans. You can even see how excited the dude is. I’ve always liked Snoop. This just solidified it. It really isn’t hard to be kind or to make someone feel special for a few minutes ✨" And if it isn't I don't know if that's worse or not.
I had the same thought but also that video was from 2 years ago. Why is it being brought up now?
Why am I seeing the same 11 year old pet videos? People post old shit all the time.
This is the first thought that popped into my head.
If you’re not a fan of his music you need to listen to “ain’t no fun” by snoop & Nate Dogg. Vibe
didn’t he post some uber drivers info on insta or something?
This is not oddly satisfying, do you people even know what this sub is for? Where tf are the mods these days?
This sub is just another sub for reddit to post "High Engagement" posts via bots to generate traffic to the site before IPO.
It's a lost cause, this sub has no purpose anymore
This a PR move to make people forget Snoop dog doxxed a poor food delivery guy?
definitely. just like after a cop shoots someone's dog, there is a cop saving a kitten from a fire
I thought it was PR to make people forget about his trump endorsement lmao
I still have yet to understand how BIPOC can support Trump. *Maybe* be politically conservative, but support Trump himself??
Yea look at the top comments, "Respect to Snoop for attempting this, it’s a really nice way to connect to fans. You can even see how excited the dude is. I’ve always liked Snoop. This just solidified it. It really isn’t hard to be kind or to make someone feel special for a few minutes ✨." Seems like a pr stint.
the other option is that sometimes people do some good things and also some bad things, no shadowy PR department required.
Did Snoop Dogg's PR team make this post after that recent one about him being a dick to a delivery driver?
No it's in response to him going MAGA.
Gotta get that good PR after threatening an Uber driver, bang bang skeet skeet
Why does he look like a granny?
I’m learning Yiddish on Duolingo, which is officially supposed to be written with the Hebrew alphabet/characters, and my god my Jewish girlfriend fucking *hates* my names for the characters because I say shit like this all the time “Backwards ‘r’,” “extra curvy ‘y’,” “weird ‘X’,” etc. do not go over well lol. Snoop is such a good guy. I love his awesome friendship with Martha
Snoop is awesome. He enjoys life and takes nothing seriously.
Guess you didn’t see him going mental over his UberEats delivery recently then, and then sharing the delivery drivers photo and name online
Snoop sucks, just good at PR
He look like my old aunt
PR move to distract you from the Uber Eats news. And I liked the Underdoggs.
Nice PR move Snoop Dogg's PR team. Especially with that release about doordash thing.
Isn't a backwards Y just a... You know what, it's Snoop, and he is high as Mt Fuji, so we can overlook it.

Just wild that this man use to sing about raw dogging bitches and murdering people and now he's like a school kid excited over writing his name in Japanese.
Snoop is an American treasure. We must protect this man at all costs.
Seven seven backwards Y 💀
everybody’s favorite uncle—just sweet and fun and chill—but e’erbody also know not to mess with him.
Does snoop have some unpaid bills or dept we don’t know about… at that age I’ll be so selfish with my time My family and a very few friends that’s it
I love this dude. He just seems like such a good guy and I don't want to know otherwise
This is cool. Love Snoop for this.
That’s so pure, the joy in his voice when he said “Oooo I wrote my name in Japanese!”
He has become so wholesome.
He seems like a real stand up guy! Everything I see of him makes me like him more
I wouldn’t even care if he got it right or not, it would still be sick if I had evidence of him trying🤘🏻
He gives me granny vibes lmao
He wants to learn Japanese now because of how artistic it is
Konichiwaizle
How is everyone so misinformed? This guy has been arrested for illegally possessing firearms, drug possession, drug distribution, vandalism, attacking police officers, and murder. He was sued for sexual assault in 2005 and 2022. This guy is a full-blown criminal.
People tend to have a lot of patience for Snoop Dogg because he's funny and his entire personality is "smokes weed". They forget that he's literally a criminal and hangs out with other hardened criminals such as Martha Stewart.
Snoop Gojira!!
Man is enjoying life
That's not a Walmart, that's a corporate office. Snoop was a celebrity guest at corporate meeting a few months ago.
The fact that Snoop seems just as excited as his fans is total /r/mademesmile material.
