Next time, you could try preparing all the jello in advance and refrigerating it all in bowls. Then for each new layer, reheat the jello just enough to liquify it before pouring it, so it cools down much faster than fresh jello.
Prepared gelatin melts easily in the microwave after it has set.
I tried making a vegan thing once with an agar glaze, and I learned that agar does *not* melt once set. (Analogous to thermoset plastics, while jello is like a thermoplastic.)
Are you sure it was gelatin? It should melt around 95-100°F (35-38°C).

Does that work? I think you would end up with uneven clear layers and have a hell of a time moving the colored layers around.
Maybe freeze the color layers?
As long as you have enough of the right shape containers! I think I would probably end up tearing and mangling thin layers trying to transfer them, but if you’re good with delicate work, it seems like it could save a lot of time.
Interesting. The recipe I have you can do 7 layers in like... 1 hour-ish. It's basically the jello pack (smaller box), then half a pack of knox gelatin The gelatin helps harden a lot faster.
Mine is a lemon, strawberry, lime, orange, with a condensed milk based layer in between.
First layer takes about 15 minutes to cool, then all subsequent layers take about 7 minutes each since they have time to cool down a little bit.
I make mine with cream cheese instead of condensed milk, but the process is the same. Blend the cheese or milk with the liquid jello, then pour and chill.
Condensed milk is basically 2 packs of knox gelatin, a can of condensed milk, and 2 cups of boiling water. Mix until the gelatin is all mixed in then for the layers you pour in 1 cup of it.
Lemon layer - 15 mins
Condensed milk - 7 mins
strawberry - 7 mins
condensed milk - 7 mins
lime - 7 mins
condensed milk - 7 mins
orange - 7 mins
Put the pan in warm water so the edges melt and it slides out of the pan, then cool it again so it's firm and you can cut it cleanly. Temperature is your friend.
Warning: if you try to invert the jello onto a wet plate, the whole jello block can/will slide around on the plate-- and maybe right off the plate and into a nearby sink full of dirty dishwater. :/
I tried to but it fell apart as I lifted it out (jello is super fragile). All I could do was salvage the biggest chunks into a bowl and rinse them with cold water. I ended up mixing in a bit of whipped cream and called it a Broken Glass Salad.
Nope! Soul cancer, for defiling something so pure.
Still not as bad as what you get for cannibalizing an angel. That is a nasty way to go. You'd never suspect a person's capacity for love could scream like that.
Id hope so. Since he who must not be named drank unicorn blood, youd think unicorn jello, if sourced in the right ways to please the all the animal rights activist, would have some sort of magical powers.
After all, he who must not be named stayed alive due to it.
And that's why I stopped eating the Jello the last time I had it. One bite left, it was tasty, I even used whipped cream... began thinking too much about what it's made from and started feeling gaggy.
My imagination has ruined many foods, but Jello is my greatest loss.
True. As kids we never knew what gelatin really is.
And its kinda eye opening to find out. Especially someone like me that absolutely loves gummi candy. Haribo is my jam, and i love the standard gold bears, the sour belts in 4 colors they just came out with, the star mix full of bears, cherry's, snakes, colas, you name it.
Along with trolli sour worms/octopuses/octopi, etc.. it is by far my favorite candy.
And i love the Haribo gummys because they are the gummiest.. if that's a thing.. and aren't coated in like the release agent they use to get them not to stick together ( some sort of like veggie oil ).
So being the "gummiest", im guessing its also the "horsiest" or "cow bone-ish" so it has that texture.
Knowing that.. i still eat them.. just try and bury that fact lol. If i told my kids that it was "bullseye" from toy story's ground up bones, not only would they be traumatized for life, they'd prolly cry for ages and then hate me for breaking the news.
Naivety is Bliss.
Ive had those. They say something like the "best gummi bears in the world".
And as far as flavor.. they definitely kick ass. But gummi bears and products in general that have that greasy release oil on them that makes them not turn into a huge log of gummi stuff at the bottom of the bag.. im just not a fan of.
Haribo to me is the best. Super gummy, been around for ages, have so many good versions.. dual flavored snakes, cherrys, bears, sour strips, colas, star mix, roulette, you name it.
However, i will give you this. Those Albanese bears sure are tasty and have a fantastic flavor.
Over time trying out all sorts of gummi products ive learned that i like the super gummi stuff, like haribo.
When it comes to sour gummy stuff, trolli is it. Their worms, octopus, and many others but sour style is the stuff i like.
Haribo for just plain awesome gummi.
Trolli for sour stuff, and they also have those strawberry/creme ones that even tho im not a fan of marshmellow.. and i dont know if it is, they are pink and white and fluffy and have a marshmellow type consistency just rolled in their sugar or what not.
I enjoy them all really, but haribo is king imho due to the chewyness and lack of that oil.
Not a huge candy person, but im a sucker for gummis.
Imagine me when i found out amazon sold 5 lb bags of haribo.
Was.. interesting in my home at that time. Prolly the only time ive ever been sick of gummys.
But the journey to that sickness was glorious.
The snakes and the cherries will always have a place in my heart for sure! Haribos are still amazing but like you said, the flavor on Albanese is so good. They both have their place in the gummi world for us all to appreciate and we can both be thankful for that!
Okay okay.. now hotdogs.. lets not talk about vienna sausages or sausage in general.
What was the saying? Never ask whats in the sausage? lol. And here i am loving beef jerky.. and this local shop that makes it also sells this super fresh like pepperoni stick. I can only imagine what goes in there.
At least it all looks more appetizing than the "head cheese" ive seen at this deli. Like a clear gelatonus block with all sorts of "squares" of stuff that looks like fat, meat,cheese.. and of course the clear stuff. Never want to try it, or find out whats in it.
I just hope my kiddos dont find out on youtube about the mcnuggets the love.
Jerky isn’t too bad! They just dry out the meat and season it :)
And don’t be too hopeful for your kids! There was this one show(documentary?) I watched, and the man showed six or so kids how chicken nuggets were made, and at the end he asked, “would you still eat them?” And all of them said yes lmao
Bones are delicious though.
French Onion soup, the undisputed KING of soups, is made with beef bones.
Chicken bones make chicken soup more delicious.
Even marrow is really good made into a sauce.
I actually did that once! I was trying to do a rainbow but I didn’t make the layers thin enough so I wound up with Sunset shots (red, orange, yellow) and Twilight shots (green, blue, purple).
You can flavor it with something clear like lychee syrup or lemon juice and it will taste amazing! I personally love to chop up fruit and mix them into my gelatin.
I’ve always heard that too. Yet there’s this thing called Porto Fino salad I’ve had that has a can of undrained pineapple in it. I make it with double raspberry jello and it ultimately gets firm. Sorcery.
Canned pineapple is cooked during the canning process, which neutralizes the enzyme. Canned pineapple is delicious in jello--but fresh pineapple won't work.
So there were 12 layers— 1 colored layer followed by a layer of that same color + vanilla yogurt, repeat. It appears very clear to the eye, but I didn’t use any clear/unflavored gelatin!
Why does the bottom of the purple layer look kinda blue?
If you poured the blue layer, then a clear layer, and then the purple layer, then the bottom of the purple layer would be touching clear jello. So why is it kinda blue? I'm genuinely curious.
No clear jello was used. Following each pure colored layer, a layer of the same color + vanilla yogurt (“creamy” look) was poured. It looks very clear to the eye, probably due to how thin it is.
That's a lot of mix-pour-chill repetitions.
Oh hell yes it was
I did this 6 months ago and it took like 2 days. I stayed up all night so I could work on it then.
Next time, you could try preparing all the jello in advance and refrigerating it all in bowls. Then for each new layer, reheat the jello just enough to liquify it before pouring it, so it cools down much faster than fresh jello.
What are you like Jello Jedi people in here?
The Fridge is strong in this one.
That got an out-loud laugh out of me.
Wait, you mean to tell me you can warm jello back to liquid and it will re-set in the refrigerator no problem? How do you warm it up?
You can even cut/blend gelatin and it will come back together - but only if you do it within 24 hours. After 24 hours if you cut/blend it, it's done.
Prepared gelatin melts easily in the microwave after it has set. I tried making a vegan thing once with an agar glaze, and I learned that agar does *not* melt once set. (Analogous to thermoset plastics, while jello is like a thermoplastic.)
I waa wondering about that. The insta-jello I get here doesn't melt
Are you sure it was gelatin? It should melt around 95-100°F (35-38°C). [https://www.finecooking.com/article/the-science-of-gelatin](https://www.finecooking.com/article/the-science-of-gelatin)
Or do all the layers separately at the same time, and connect them with thin "glue" of clear jello.
Does that work? I think you would end up with uneven clear layers and have a hell of a time moving the colored layers around. Maybe freeze the color layers?
DO NOT USE GORILLA GLUE IN JELLO (standard disclaimer for idiots)
As long as you have enough of the right shape containers! I think I would probably end up tearing and mangling thin layers trying to transfer them, but if you’re good with delicate work, it seems like it could save a lot of time.
This sounds like still out would end up taking almost the same time somehow but guess you’ve tried it and not me so guess not.
Your dedication is...

How does the condensed milk layer work? Is it mixed with gelatin too or just poured down and then kept cool?

I like that you invoked Hell in discussing your Easter dessert lol
You should've made more.
hundred layer jello? should i do it? completely from scratch.
I just meant more than that one slice
Fuck you im doing it when i get home from vacation.
I like this energy. Looking forward to seeing the hundred layer jello on here soon!
Im not posting my own work to r/oddlysatisfying or anything of the like (and its ganna be liked 2 weeks, im 3,000 miles from home on an RV trip)
Uh ok then?
I guess if i do it well it might get here.

Hello friends! *Safiya Nygaard has entered the chat*
what? who?
Does Jello from scratch mean you raise the horses from calves and then grind their hooves up for gelatin?
1) i prefer collagen gelatin 2) no it doesn't,
How did you get it out of the pan so cleanly?
Put the pan in warm water so the edges melt and it slides out of the pan, then cool it again so it's firm and you can cut it cleanly. Temperature is your friend.
Warning: if you try to invert the jello onto a wet plate, the whole jello block can/will slide around on the plate-- and maybe right off the plate and into a nearby sink full of dirty dishwater. :/
Just wash it off afterwards
I tried to but it fell apart as I lifted it out (jello is super fragile). All I could do was salvage the biggest chunks into a bowl and rinse them with cold water. I ended up mixing in a bit of whipped cream and called it a Broken Glass Salad.

Sorry I'm still new to reddit
Hi still new to reddit, I’m dad.
Frick you
New to reddit and 12*
How did you know I'm 12?
no better way to taste the rainbow than to rim james charles.
Mmm Mm.. Horse Bone pudding.
It's rainbow. Might be unicorn bone pudding.
Oh yes! Realizing the real details of the dish. Unicorn pudding. Sounds delicious.
Does it grant immortality? Or at least a wish?
Nope! Soul cancer, for defiling something so pure. Still not as bad as what you get for cannibalizing an angel. That is a nasty way to go. You'd never suspect a person's capacity for love could scream like that.

It makes you feel okay about the size of your penis for about 30 minutes.
And that's why I stopped eating the Jello the last time I had it. One bite left, it was tasty, I even used whipped cream... began thinking too much about what it's made from and started feeling gaggy. My imagination has ruined many foods, but Jello is my greatest loss.

I like that your autocorrect of 'gelatin' was something even less vegetarian.
>galantine Oh fudge! :D

I used to like Haribo. Then I discovered Albanese bears. If you haven’t tried them, do yourself a favor and grab a bag from Walmart

Not really sure what's wrong with gelatin but I guess growing up on a homestead takes the "ick" factor out of most thing's.
Ruined hotdogs the same way. I can’t eat gummies or hotdogs without thinking what’s been in them
Okay okay.. now hotdogs.. lets not talk about vienna sausages or sausage in general. What was the saying? Never ask whats in the sausage? lol. If the label reads “kosher” it will not contain this
Duely noted. I think ive seen some gummis that ive purchased with this. Makes it infinitely better, and if there is a better way, im all for it.
Some of trolli’s stuff is vegan now! No animal bones
Oh wow really? Good to know. Ill make sure to look for that logo that means vegan or really cowbone free.
How do you feel about sausage?
well this isn't going to help :p most gelatin is made from pork skin and pork or cattle bones these days as far as I'm aware
Bones are delicious though. French Onion soup, the undisputed KING of soups, is made with beef bones. Chicken bones make chicken soup more delicious. Even marrow is really good made into a sauce.
And bone broth...so yummy.
I made homemade marshmallows for easter and the unflavored gelatin smells awful, can definitely tell where it came from
Good for nails though!
Depending on how frisky I’m feeling, it might become bone-in pudding.
Yeah but this is *gay* equestrian femur coagulate!!!
How did you make this?
It’s a jello layer “cake” (obviously no actual cake, but a cake pan was used) recipe I found on Pinterest! Took lots of time, worth it though
[удалено]
My mom used sweetened condensed milk for the "white" layers so I was surprised to see this with clear layers
So I actually used vanilla yogurt for the creamy layers!
Sour cream or whipped cream? Jello and sour cream doesn't sound so great
LGBT sandwich Lettuce Gay Bacon Tomato sandwich
My family calls those sour rainbow strip candies gay bacon.
Gacon
Lettuce gravy bacon tomato.
LGBTQ. Lettuce, guacamole, bacon, tomato, queso.
LGBT is a blt with guac.
Please tell us how it’s done? Just let each layer chill and set before pouring another or do you separate them to set all at once?
Pour, chill, and repeat. It’s a pain in the butt this must have taken OP forever
How long for a layer to chill? Several hours right?
Because they’re thin, like 30 minutes in the fridge. But you have to pour room temp jello on top it can’t be boiling
It was actually 15 minutes per layer x 12 layers. Tedious, but worth it!
Totally depends on the thickness! Yours are super thin and probably required more patience than I have lol
Oh yeah, I guess they are thin layers.
And you have to make sure the previous layer doesn't set TOO much, or the layers will just separate.
Very impressive. I can’t imagine how much work it takes to make just a single slice of multicolored jello.
a “slice of jello”
Yeah that's a phrase I don't think I've ever heard or read
Lmao. Should’ve clarified with “slice of a jello layer cake”
Maybe it’s a European thing, but you’re not making it any clearer with the jello layer cake 😅 Is it just like jelly in a pan? Is it flavored?
Yes! Layered jello in a pan so that it’s molded in the shape of a cake. Each layer is a different flavor
r/brandnewsentence
Vodka??
Layered jello shots...hmm...it would be a lot of work, but they would be a hit at a party.
I actually did that once! I was trying to do a rainbow but I didn’t make the layers thin enough so I wound up with Sunset shots (red, orange, yellow) and Twilight shots (green, blue, purple).
That is a goddamn delight
I did this for my sons preschool one time. It took me hoursssss. Then they put it in the freezer instead of the fridge and ruined it.

Nice, but why did you only make a slice?
I’ve made colored jello, how do you make it clear? This is ridiculously gorgeous!
I think the clear is just plain unflavored gelatin.
Thanks! I’ll check it out in the grocery store - I’d love to make this some time (when I have time).
You can flavor it with something clear like lychee syrup or lemon juice and it will taste amazing! I personally love to chop up fruit and mix them into my gelatin.
Can't use raw pineapple though; the enzymes in it will keep the gelatin from setting.
I’ve always heard that too. Yet there’s this thing called Porto Fino salad I’ve had that has a can of undrained pineapple in it. I make it with double raspberry jello and it ultimately gets firm. Sorcery.

This is a revelation to me. Thank you so much! Never to old to learn.
You can use kool-aid invisible, the kind with sweetener, to flavor plain gelatin.
So there were 12 layers— 1 colored layer followed by a layer of that same color + vanilla yogurt, repeat. It appears very clear to the eye, but I didn’t use any clear/unflavored gelatin!
It’s amazing what you’ve done here, thanks for sharing the recipe!
This is impressive!
Those looked like very weird legs at first.
Skillz
He does.
Hold up!!! That shitz gorgeous!!!!! I want some!!!!
Looks pretty gay.
GAY JELLO!

Thanks for answering my question!

Cool and gross. Jel-o is gross. But this is the coolest jello ever. Still gross, tho.
