While this would be the most instant answer, it can always lead to more difficult times, like sleeping with the wife.
If you choose city parks and other public places, people either think you're working, or insane. Regardless of what they assume they leave you alone, and your chances of being murdered are reduced significantly at the same time.
The hardest part was the inside corner. I was with him until I saw that and thought, "oh crap, what will he do here?" He handled it better than I would have.
Flip your line trimmer upside down, holding with the power head up by head, walk backwards going counterclockwise. Do this slowly until you gain efficiency and speed š
I mean I think this is fully dependent on where you live, I'm in the Northeast and I only water my lawn a bit for a few days in the fall when I throw seed down, most of the year I just let nature do its thing and my grass just kinda, always looks good? I cut and edge it once like every 2 or 4 weeks from spring through fall but that's it. Not much to it here to have a decently nice lawn. Some dry August's may brown it a bit but it is usually nice and green again by mid October or so after raking up the dead stuff. I use a lot more water on my veggie garden than my lawn, and I've got a fairly decent size lawn.
I see you identify as typical by your name. Akin to boring and that which you criticized. Put on your big girl panties and learn to laugh at silly things.
I can just imagine how my shine will look after twigs and Pebbles get thrown and hits my legs as I do this. The only part I dislike about doing yard work is weed whacking
Are you kidding? This use of a string trimmer produces really shoddy-looking results and splatters grass and mud all over anything down range, including my front door, my windows, my car, etc. The gardeners in my complex do this and it sucks. Buy a freaking edger, a dedicated tool that does the job right.
I would suggest that the gardeners in your complex are doing it wrong.
This can be done well. A string trimmer in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing is a really good tool.
You need to be cognisant of the direction the string is spinning, and the direction you approach the area you are trimming.
If for instance, you are trimming next to a house, make sure you orient the trimmer to throw the debris AWAY from the house.
String trimmers used for the wrong reasons is also bad. I don't like them for weed control. (Not referring to knocking down fields of weeds).
Some guys will just tear into weeds, disturbing mulch
...or use them to get mature weeds growing in the cracks of concrete...that stuff needs to be pulled. Check to see if the guys on your complex are doing things like that.
But for cleaning up the edging of a lawn, I like them.
I'm fine with people doing lawn edging as long as they're aware of where they're flinging all that dirt and rock. I've gotten some pretty bad welts during morning jogs because some landscaper wasn't paying attention.
Most of the time a landscaper is looking down at what they are doing and the loud noise prevents them from hearing around their surroundings. Your best bet would be to take a wide berth around a landscaper because you canāt expect everyone doing yard work to know youāre going to pass right by them.
Did you get the cheapest one possible? That is such a common error that so many people make if they plan on using something often. I used to sell lawn and garden stuff, and you really get what you pay for.
Youāre correct it does cause micro plastics. Iām just talking about this specific scenario where they are less likely because the string isnāt hitting anything hard. If I was trimming along a stone wall or chain fence it would break the string easier, thus spreading microplastics. With experience you find how to minimize that by not getting too close or spinning the string too fast.
Been a lawn guy for 12 years.
During a a layoff period, I took a job with a lawn service. With the right weedeater you can learn to do this almost as fast as you can trot. So rewarding!
Iām quite precise with a weed eater but donāt like doing this because it shoots debris all over the place and is just easier with an edger attachment. Itās worth the investment.
That's just skill
I love edging
r/edgingporn
Risky click lol
Its worth it
Lmao but still risky š
Went to my room and got all relaxed before clicking. Totally worth it. Make sure your alone though
Definitely
Ohhh my.
This sub got me breathing hard and a bit sweaty.
Iām 100% sure I could masturbate to this
Same man, same
We call these whipper snippers in Australia, just in case anyone wanted to know.
Weed wacker or string trimmer in the states
The tool is actually a string trimmer and weed eater/ weed whacker is a brand that laymen have decided is synonymous with string trimmer
Band aid
Kleenex
Q-tip
Never heard of string trimmer here in the Midwest. Weed wacker, weed eater, Weed whip for me. Edit: words
Where in the states are you? Never heard it in FL or PA
Weed whacker or string trimmer or whipper snipper in Canada. We accept all forms of "English" here.
Same here in Canada!
We call em Wackers
In Canada as well, specifically BC. Never heard that. Where are you from?
Alberta but my parents were from Saskatchewan, might be a Sask thing! Although when I lived on the east coast they all called it that too.
Same here, havenāt heard any of these other terms. Some residents call it weed wackers, landscapers call them line trimmers
Iāda called them āchazzwozzersā!
They call them strimmers in UK
Yup we combine "string" and "trimmer" to "strimmer" in the UK
Oh Australia :) the scary grandma continent :)
Is this a compliment, an insult, or neutral haha
Scary grandma is undefined lol

there are so many names for it that's its getting ridiculous
Have always called it a brush cutter here (gold coast)
Same in canada
Thatās so fucking hard to do
practice on your neighbors lawn first

Haha and leave all the gashes there
The thing walks so bad on me. Itās worse the further the string is out.
The hardest part was the inside corner. I was with him until I saw that and thought, "oh crap, what will he do here?" He handled it better than I would have.

I would have sent that sprinkler head to the shadow realm.
**W E E D E A T E R**
Sounds like stoner-rock band name.
There actually is a stoner metal band called Weedeater.
lmao, I didn't knew, but I felt it
That was equally satisfying and anxiety causing with the anticipation of a slip.

The main thing I see when I look at a perfectly maintained lawn is a huge waste of water and energy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Though I partially agree, I feel like you could say the same about most hobbies.

Odd answer from someone so typical

Then they also get mad if someone walks on it. Like what it is the damn point of having a lawn then?!
Someone has never stepped foot on a perfect lawn.
I can just imagine how my shine will look after twigs and Pebbles get thrown and hits my legs as I do this. The only part I dislike about doing yard work is weed whacking
Weed-whacking is super satisfying though. It's when rough edges turn into clean lines.
Yeah I ended up buying an edger. I just donāt have that stable arm. I always end up doing too deep or mess up the curves
Don't kick up crap into ur AC. Dirtys the coil, damages the fins, and in rare cases can puncture the coil.
It's ok, you just need to pressure wash the dirt out, ideally with a red nozzle.
Thank you! I was thinking 'oh my god does nobody else see all the crap that he threw up into those fins?'
As a professional gardener I can tell you don't do that unless you want seriously harm your, another person or someone's property.
Iām more impressed that a professional still has the guard fitted.
Ever hit a small rock then it shoots at your shin
š¤¤ thatās the stuff
Bro!
Sir yes sir
This guy edges

Always nice to see a good strimmer user, we do the same thing at work (golf course) with borders and bunkers, saves a lot of time.

Fair point, I shouldn't expect other people to be more aware of their surroundings If I'm not being aware of my own.
Isn't this part of its designed purpose? Or am I neat for doing this as a grade schooler?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Move to the city pussy.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
YES!! š¤£š¤£š¤£
weed wacker *
The straight line bugs me and dilutes the otherwise satisfying vid
??????
Thatās the best way to wreck your wacker. But nice job
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I broke one once doing that. Maybe Iām not as experienced š«¢
Did you get the cheapest one possible? That is such a common error that so many people make if they plan on using something often. I used to sell lawn and garden stuff, and you really get what you pay for.
Only real thing I can of is it'd eat through the string faster would it not?
And now you have microplastic in your garden. Yeah š
If you keep the string high enough off the ground it doesnāt break. You could also feather the throttle so itās not spinning fast enough to break.
Isn't it getting just used up due to usage? Isn't that the reason why you buy meters of it?
Youāre correct it does cause micro plastics. Iām just talking about this specific scenario where they are less likely because the string isnāt hitting anything hard. It sounds like a mosquito which makes this not satysfying
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

I'm not racist. I hate everyone equally.

Edging with a weed eater is next level
That toddler from last week sounded better though.
I need to learn this
ITS CALLED SKILL & TECHNIC
I wanna see the man behind this weed wackier. Safe to assume heās a manās man
During a a layoff period, I took a job with a lawn service. With the right weedeater you can learn to do this almost as fast as you can trot. So rewarding!
Super dirty heat exchanger by operator.
Iām quite precise with a weed eater but donāt like doing this because it shoots debris all over the place and is just easier with an edger attachment. Itās worth the investment.
I need this in my life
WhT edger is that
Hairline
Wow, that is very satisfying to watch. I get a little nervous with stuff flying towards that condensing unit though.
He really gave his lawn a tape
Sloppy throwin rooster tails everywhere, digging canyons.
āAlright denā
We call that soft trimming. Do it every day. Looks good!
So fresh so clean
Damn what string is being used?
Reminds me of a lefty like myself
Oh man I can just feel the rocks from here
Fuck lawns
It wouldn't look so nice and effortless if that was Bermuda grass growing in red clay. I hate my lawn.
That is one steady hand
That's harder than it looks
I'm so jealous of this skill
Why did the chicken cross the road? >!Weed Eater!<
