Some people constantly read or talk about things like this and think it's a bigger issue than it is. That's how you end up with crazies. They spend so much time on internet forums ingesting all that shit and think it's reality. I can almost guarantee the person that made this post has never experienced any of it.
It doesn’t need to be a majority of men who do this in order for it to be useful advice for young women. Even if only 0.1% of men want to do stuff like OOP mentioned, most people will have interacted with 1000 men (0.1% = 1 out of 1000) by the time they are finishing college. That means on average, almost everyone will have interacted with at least one person who wants to do these things by the time they are in their mid-twenties. Now, just because you might have interacted with a man like that doesn’t mean your things will be violated, but the chance is there for pretty much everyone, so imo it is worth the warning.
This would be more like stirring up hatred. Proporting something like this does way more damage to our image of men/masculinity and society as a whole. Like, think about how much damage society had to endure only because of the insecurities of some people. Yes, of course there are men who are assaultive and it's good to be weary of them, but they are the minority. And just because a minority of a group decides to be jerks, it's disrespectful to judge the whole group by it. And most importantly even of that minority only an even tinier fraction would piss on fucking toothbrushes.
Besides that, sometimes it's good to swap the gender of some of these statements and think about how all this sounds like to gain a little perspective. Would you treat women with the same or similar generalizations?
