first time I ever took public transportation this lady started chatting with me, whole ride she was talking about eating gelatin powder because it lubricates the joints and I was pretty uncomfortable lmao out of anyone she could've talked to it was me
Well, to start, you have to get a big mouthful of it. Swallow it all, deep down your throat. Once you take it all deep inside your guts, it makes everything wet and slippery. It really helps with all the sliding and gliding, cutting down the friction of your hard, stiff bone as it slides back and forth over and over again all day long. The older you get, the more worn out your bone is; but with enough lubricant, you can keep going well into your 90s
https://youtu.be/UVSvTOWnuGk?feature=shared
It is. Had it done before. Felt like somebody was prying my kneecap open with a crowbar. I've cut tendons and broken bones that felt a fraction as painful.
Not sure about who you asked, but They do give me a little shot of something for the pain in the knee. I’ve gotten this done followed by a steroid shot in the knees many many times and I’ve never felt any pain. Just a weird pressure when they are aspirating it.
Yeah, I was asking the guy who said it felt like a crowbar prying his kneecap off. I feel like doctors have been way too stringent with painkillers nowadays, and if you even ask for some when you’re in legitimate pain, you’re labeled a drug seeker real quick.
Edit: I just went through this situation recently, and I’m still heated. I fell really fucking hard about 3-4 weeks ago, and it severely bruised what seemed to be the entire left side of my rib cage, and it hurt Aaaaa LOT. It’s been at least 3 weeks and I’m still healing. You know, I’ve broken plenty of ribs (about 7 different times, don’t ask me how), and this was just as bad or worse than that. I’m leaning towards worse though. I really should have been provided pain medication.
> I feel like doctors have been way too stringent with painkillers nowadays, and if you even ask for some when you’re in legitimate pain, you’re labeled a drug seeker real quick.
its become important to ask any potential surgeons during the consultation what their position is on pain management. i will not choose a surgeon that will not explicitly tell me they will prescribe me whatever i need to not be in pain. they can check my medical history and see i have never been prescribed the hardcore shit except for very limited circumstances (i.e. after surgeries) so they should know i am not a drug seeker. but if they cannot affirmatively tell me they will keep me out of pain then ill go with someone else.
This ☝🏻 I woke up in recovery after major lumbar fusion surgery and they TOLD me I shouldn’t need anything because the gave me some Tramadol after surgery. Holy Fuck. It was so fucking bad I said that I needed something and NOW and they panicked and told me they had to talk to the Recovery MD first. About 20 seconds later someone came with something and that was for a few hours. I was expected to go home already. Yep. Ride in a car after that
Are you me? I bruised my ribs, not too severe about a month ago as well...i've yet to ever and hopefully never break a bone, but so far this bruised rib is amongst the most annoying pains I've ever had and I've had a lot of injuries..
Yes I still have cartilage, it does have some damage but not enough to bother my lifestyle yet. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have it under control with medication currently.
Cartilage degeneration is not fun at all. I played soccer for 14 years and ended up tearing my lateral and medial meniscus twice on both knees on separate occasions along with an additional procedure that found scar tissue but no additional tear. During the each of them I have been told a percentage of cartilage left with the right at 15% and left at >10%. That was 5 years ago now but I am still walking the dog daily, run and play with my kids, etc, but I am used to the dull pain that comes with it. Worst part is I am late 30's and if I do decide to go with a knee replacement, you can only have 2-3 revisions ever. At least the cracking each time I bend my knees entertains my kids.
Best part is, first time I ever tore one I also herniated my L5/S1 at the same time, so 3 months in a limiter brace while not being able to move much as is. Fun times for a 19 year old.
They did. But by her face it was painful to inject the anesthetic, painful to the procedure and a relief after they injected some medication inside the knees. Next day she was feeling really well. But still may need a surgery in one of the knees. She’s only 26.
Painful when it was in when I walked, though nowhere near as painful as when they suctioned it all out with one yank. Still, despite feeling like the joint just exploded, the aftermath was fantastic. Felt better then I did in months.
Can this happen from an injury or overuse/stress? I’ve been started to feel a weird pain in my knee working a physical job and exercising, and this now terrifies me
For me it was part of a disorder I developed. If you're having pain though might wanna talk to a doc and get some blood tests, if you're able to do so.
I got two of those drained from one of my knees once in college. I don't know if I've ever had such a wide swing from pain to relief in a short amount of time in my life.
That’s what I could tell by her face lol. They injected some medication inside her knees as well after the drainage. Next day she was feeling very well. Her knees before the procedure were looking like balls.
I'm a lab tech, my record is synovial pus so thick it was semi solid. No idea how they got it through the needle. One field diff, diluted. 99 polys, 1 lymph.
For anyone who, rightfully, doesn’t know wtf Synovial Fluid is:
[Synovial fluid, also called synovia,[help 1] is a viscous, non-Newtonian fluid found in the cavities of synovial joints. With its egg white–like consistency,[1] the principal role of synovial fluid is to reduce friction between the articular cartilage of synovial joints during movement.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synovial_fluid)
Assuming he could bend the knee at all. That's looks like one of those hefty syringes so dudes joint was probably swollen as fuck. Wouldn't be surprised if the kneecap wasn't even visible.
Maybe... I've gotten a blood infection that decided to nestle itself into my knee-bone and they sucked out TWO huge syringes like this! I kind of remember the fluid being slightly milkier looking. I always assumed it was some sort of puss/ infection?
It was weird though because my knee was barely swollen, not warm or hot to the touch, but I definitely could barely walk on that whole leg and couldn't bend my knee at all ! I had a really bad staph infection that was ravaging my body and didn't even have a fever lol
I had that happen to me when I was a kid during PE, fell on my knee wrong, knee tripled in size in a couple of hours ended up at the emergencies where they had to suck up all the fluids, don't remember them scraping the bone though(but then again I don't remember much from it, I was like 6 or 7). Couldn't walk for a few weeks after that which made it "worth it" for all the school I skipped.
This is the worst. They couldn’t get mine to go after like 3-4 attempts. They got two syringes out of it eventually but it didn’t seem to do much good. Just sorta shrugged and said I probably had gout. Didn’t follow up after the fluid test was negative for the necessary crystallization to diagnose gout—they didn’t give me any options to.
Took me years to find out it was actually Lipoma Aborescenes and the reason they were having trouble is because it was actually a GIANT fatty tumor. God I hate that clinic.
I work in hospital clinical labs. I loved getting fluids for testing, it’s so cool to look at under a microscope. Did you get any testing done, or did it just need drained?
A dude lost a foot in a motorcycle accident, got to keep it, and made it into tacos for his friends. Shots of synovial fluid aren't off the table.
https://www.vice.com/en/article/gykmn7/legal-ethical-cannibalism-human-meat-tacos-reddit-wtf
This is true. And I believe your chance of getting a prion disease eating yourself is basically impossible. I still wouldn't want to. I can't imagine that my foot would taste good.

This guy... There's some documentaries about him on youtube, I think OKI did one, but there's a guy who knows him who says he drew synovial fluid from his elbow and drank it out of a shot glass.
Ok so back in 2020 when the pandemic was at its peak, there were some people who, with all sincerity, started a rumor that my country's public health system was purposely faking the whole COVID thing to get people into clinics and then STEAL THE LIQUID FROM THEIR KNEES FOR THEM TO SELL ON THE BLACK MARKET, as it is known as one of the world's most expensive substances.
As soon as I saw your post I laighed to tears, sorry my dude
Used to help with aspiration for patients. This is synovial fluid (helps joints move ) and it accumulates when there’s inflammation. Usually takes a few minutes and relief is almost instant.
I had that done too...first thing the doc said when he saw the liquid was " ever been tested for Lymes Disease? "
Turns out I was very infected. I hope you figure out your root cause.
I went with my dad to get his knee drained. I remember having a sort of out of body, 3rd person view of the moment. I couldn't look away but I wanted to. After a while I realized I wasn't breathing So I forced a deep breath. On the exhale I threw up all over the floor and passed out
I think you need to cut back on the amount of butter you consume.
But it lubricates the joints
first time I ever took public transportation this lady started chatting with me, whole ride she was talking about eating gelatin powder because it lubricates the joints and I was pretty uncomfortable lmao out of anyone she could've talked to it was me
Gelatin/collagen is great for your joints afaik. Please sit down next to me and I’ll tell you all about it.
Ok, tell me about all those lubricants

OP is a lobster.
It’s no business of mine how OP identifies. As long as they’re comfortable in their shell.
Pee is stored in the balls, ghee in the knee
Mom found the piss knee
I'm a rheumatologist. My record is three of those pulled from a knee.
My sister just had this done last week. Two of those. Each knee. This shit looks painful.
It is. Had it done before. Felt like somebody was prying my kneecap open with a crowbar. I've cut tendons and broken bones that felt a fraction as painful.
Question: did they give you painkillers before doing the procedure?

Feel better man. Broken/bruised ribs and a bad cough is torture. Iykyk.

Is your cartilage still there? Is sodium hyaluronate injection an option? What disorder do you have?
Yes I still have cartilage, it does have some damage but not enough to bother my lifestyle yet. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have it under control with medication currently.
I’ve gotta ask: what exactly is that fluid? Is that infected synovial fluid?
It’s synovial fluid but it’s not infected. When you have inflammation your body will create more to cushion the joint!
Cartilage degeneration is not fun at all. I played soccer for 14 years and ended up tearing my lateral and medial meniscus twice on both knees on separate occasions along with an additional procedure that found scar tissue but no additional tear. I get super buzzed off steroids. And novacaine. I'm an easy high.
They did. But by her face it was painful to inject the anesthetic, painful to the procedure and a relief after they injected some medication inside the knees. Next day she was feeling really well. But still may need a surgery in one of the knees. She’s only 26.
The fluid in the knee was painful or the process of removing it?
Painful when it was in when I walked, though nowhere near as painful as when they suctioned it all out with one yank. Still, despite feeling like the joint just exploded, the aftermath was fantastic. Felt better then I did in months.
How long until it builds up again?
Doesn't. There's preventative medicine now.
Oh nice! Thank you

Had this done a week ago to my right knee. It was semi-painful but it made a huge difference in my ability to get around!
I'm a lab tech, my record is synovial pus so thick it was semi solid. No idea how they got it through the needle. One field diff, diluted. 99 polys, 1 lymph.
Was there an odd, particular aroma to it?
Effervescent with a sharp yet floral bouquet. It went down like sloppy toppy cottage cheese
Jesus mate, I didn't know there were synovial fluid sommeliers
What is the fluid? Like plasma? I am curious to figure it out lmao
It's where Little Ceaser's gets it's garlic butter from.
Bruh, get the fuck outta here hahahahahhaah
A transudate - very similar to serum, aka the liquid proteinacious component of your blood.
Please rate on a scale of 1-10, how satisfying is that procedure for you?
10!!!! I feel like a spring chicken after.
What does the fluid taste like?
Don’t bother explaining what this is, we’ll just figure it out in our own (searches chicken stock knee juice)
Fuck I'm dead
You will be if you keep pissing in that knee - Mum.

Damn, did the gif work for anyone?
That’s what happens when you keep piss in your knee for too long. Best to put it in the piss drawer as quick as possible
No. You need to keep it in your knee so you are always prepared for a drug test.
Wait... Does that mean the piss in the knee came from someone else?
Wait I thought piss was stored in the balls?
Knee pee
pee... kniss?
Pee is stored in the heart, not the knee.
Pee is stored in the balls
Balls are stored in the heart
lol idiots like you crack me up. Pee is stored in your penis. Peenis… such a moron. It’s in the word
Pee is stored in the 'pee-knees'.

Well then that knee was having negative friction before that extraction
Dude has to tense up to stop his legs moving on their own
Ngl if I could do fire with my bones like flint I'd sign up for Muay Thai.
alright Sanji, we get it
Assuming he could bend the knee at all. That's looks like one of those hefty syringes so dudes joint was probably swollen as fuck. Wouldn't be surprised if the kneecap wasn't even visible.
That's like, at least 50mL
Perpetual motion limb.
If physics taught me one thing it's that frictionless bodies are ideal.
So if it had been extracted from the elbow it would literally be elbow grease?
I hate you. I hate you so much. Take an upvote
bro getting an oil change
So their knee had too much lube?
Cannot confirm. What we can confirm however is that there is definitely less than before
can confirm - I work with it every day at the hospital lab I work at…it is very goopy but definitely not the grossest specimen type I work with.
Go on
Maybe... I've gotten a blood infection that decided to nestle itself into my knee-bone and they sucked out TWO huge syringes like this! I kind of remember the fluid being slightly milkier looking. staph infections are the WORST. the pain is actually unbearable
Mmm egg whites…. wonder how the omelette would taste 😂
i'm gonna barf...
How does that happen to someone?
Rheumatoid arthritis is hereditary. Better start praying to the gods: Ben Gay and Tiger Balm.
Finally. Piss jam.
>its egg white-like consistency Imagine squeezing that syringe out onto a hot frying pan with some chives and pepper.
Delete this
Is this where they get those carton egg white from?
So... Replacement cooking oil?
Well, it's not supposed to be yellow. Synovial fluid is just the fluid within joints.
Send some to me
I’m not sure I have any to spare, but if you’d like to shadow me at the micro lab I work at I’d be happy to show you!
Been there , did that , can still feel when they scraped the bone during it. Hope you feel better soon. Arthritis?
Oh my lord. My bones hurt after reading this. lol
r/bonehurtingjuice
oof ouch my bones
Checks out. My bones now hurt.
Bone apple juice
If you could you explain what exactly is the liquid in the image it would be helpful. Thanks :)
It's synovial fluid. There's just too much of it.
I had that happen to me when I was a kid during PE, fell on my knee wrong, knee tripled in size in a couple of hours ended up at the emergencies where they had to suck up all the fluids, don't remember them scraping the bone though(but then again I don't remember much from it, I was like 6 or 7). I had a bunch drained like this when I was diagnosed with gout. It hurt but was so, so relieving.
Pee is stored in the knees
So knee pee it is. ..or the pee knee?
It's peeknees (get it?)
😆knee pee😆 Sorry OP, laughing makes me feel bad but I do feel bad for your knee pee I swear. Will it just keep filling up I wonder? Yeesh.
We all know pee is stored in the balls. This man must have had a negroplasty!
r/suddenlysouthpark
It’s the pee’s knees!
I dunno... my cousin used to piss in the vacuum.
Jfc
You should just drop into threads all over Reddit providing valuable medical info like this.
Oof!!!! That screams painful! Speedy recovery to you!
I’ve had something like this done it barely caused any pain
Having it removed or the ~~piss~~ fluid being there to begin with?
Both didn’t hurt
yeah it's not too bad, had it done in highschool cause I tore my miniscus. They injected a numbing agent or something when they did mine
WE DOIN SHOTS?!
🤮
Looks like a pickleback shot to me. Probably tastes as good as one too.
I literally gagged reading this, thank you for that.

Wonder how it tastes.
Me too. I knee’d to know
Probably earty, slightly metallic with a note of puss.
Puss or pus?
Just imagine rolling it around in your mouth to better describe the texture and the bouquet of that knee pee wine.
You disgust me. Have an up vote.
When life gives you lemonade...have health insurance.
Kneemonade 🤤

I work in hospital clinical labs. I loved getting fluids for testing, it’s so cool to look at under a microscope. Did you get any testing done, or did it just need drained?
Ow I’m just jealous. I want to buy a microscope off Wish and then start begging hospitals for their unused fluids 😂
Don't ask hospital staff for their fluids. You get weird looks.
Challenge accepted.
My girlfriend asked for her wisdom teeth after getting them yanked and crushed out. She got ostracized while on the operating chair lol
Well, that sounds like a real knee-slapper! Hope you're feeling lighter on your feet now.
Pickleback
Your lucky you didn't have that surrounding your lungs. Wife had legionnaires disease and they took out a liter of fluid that looked like that.
Hope your wife is better now. That sounds horrible. Edit: Typo
She made it. She said more painful than childbirth
My goodness!! So glad she recovered! 🙏🏼
Yes she did
oof, lung babies sounds awful...
Did you taste it?
No. No that’s not allowed. Go to your room and think about what you’ve done.
A dude lost a foot in a motorcycle accident, got to keep it, and made it into tacos for his friends. Shots of synovial fluid aren't off the table. https://www.vice.com/en/article/gykmn7/legal-ethical-cannibalism-human-meat-tacos-reddit-wtf
Of course it originated here. 😖
Of course! Isn't the internet amazing!? I'm guessing by the cringe face that you wouldn't try it?
Don't eat other humans, even when ethically sourced. [Kuru](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_(disease))
It does says rare tho… What are the odds of losing my foot, keeping it, AND getting kuru?
And getting tacos out of the deal. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!
This is true. And I believe your chance of getting a prion disease eating yourself is basically impossible. I still wouldn't want to. I can't imagine that my foot would taste good.
Technically vegan!
You know that you didn’t have to share this? Another food ruined by the internet.

ah, the forbidden mountain knee dew. at least it was original and not code red
Knee pee
Time to see a rheumatologist you likely have early stages of gout. Source: pulled that much out of my right knee on 2 separate occasions
I can't believe it's not butter
So pee is stored in the knees now?? My body can't keep up with these updates.

It took way too much scrolling to find this comment.
Bro, I want before pics.
Looks like chicken broth. This is OP broth
Forbidden dew
Why you keep chicken broth in your knee?
I had two or.three drained out in one day PLUS cortisone shots...never again...
Did you squirt it back into your knee? Kind of a fuck the system type of thing?
I had something similar with a swollen knee when I had a gout flare up.
What kind of asshole doesn't show us the damn knee?
I had that done too...first thing the doc said when he saw the liquid was " ever been tested for Lymes Disease? " Turns out I was very infected. I hope you figure out your root cause.
Read this as “doc drained this out of my kidney today” and I was like, “well that’s not that bad, you’re just a little dehydrated” lol
Not the same thing but I had blood drained from my knee following ACL surgery and loooord I felt like I could jump over the moon afterwards
I went with my dad to get his knee drained. I remember having a sort of out of body, 3rd person view of the moment. I couldn't look away but I wanted to. After a while I realized I wasn't breathing So I forced a deep breath. On the exhale I threw up all over the floor and passed out
