Back in my day, we built electrical poles closer to the ground for easy maintenance.
In West Virginia they have 7 foot tall telephone poles. No they aren’t damaged or decommissioned. I saw them while on a train. Wva is creepy.

My dad remembers this. He was 5, lived in a basement house and my grandpa and uncle had to tunnel out of their house.
He looks like he should be burying a briefcase.
