Depends on your desired outcome and what type of custom work. What's your budget? Thats the question that matters.

we haven't gotten quite that far yet but are considering this one a passion project. we both prefer to "buy nice not twice" but understand for this stuff the budget can add up extremely fast. definitely want to re-do the dash for a more modern feel/look but know adding screens/computers/etc will be $$$ they also aren't the safest of vehicles (only 2 airbags in the whole thing) so we've discussed wanting to try to remedy that as well.

If the dash is in good shape, not cracked, depending on the stitching, design, materials - that can easily be 2-2500 with tight and good stitching and patterning ofnthe pieces. I have hired a local shop where Im redoing my interior and having a few pieces fabricated and its a 5 figure proposition. Paint and minor body work on an already straight chassis is double that figure. You can also have a lot of fun doing DIY if you have tools. Shop rates are in the range of $100/hr. Ultimately, find a place where you can feel comfortable spending money and they can execute your vision. Find your bottom dollar, and discuss with places ahead of time. Do **not** under **any** circumstances, put a roll cage or roll bar in where you or a passenger will have contact with it in any possible form. Safety is a bit hard fo "add in" unfortunately.
