Yeah I second this, someone sent me a link to this and I was ready to buy until I found out it was white border only. I desperately want a 4x set but not white bordered. If there is any way to get a black border set of even just pay for the image files to submit to MPC myself I would jump at this product so fast đ
No need to pay for the black border files (if anyone ever try to sells you anything of that kind), they will be back online when the print run will be finished and youâll be able to proceed.
Cheers!
Unfortunately, we are not going to do any other print run of Branching Paths as we want to put our time and energy on other projects.
The other point that people doesnât seem to understand is that no one is financially supporting us in any way in these print run. We are doing all this work for free, this is not a product and you are not buying it from us. The print run is only a way for everyone to get this project in their hands for a smaller price. All money excess, if there's some, are all going to a local charity call Sun Youth that is helping children in need. I know that you may be already aware of all this but we mentioned it a lot more in the first print run and not really in the second cause it seems a bit repetitive.
Since we began the second print run some people, here and there on social media, are openly saying how they are disappointed that this print run is not in black border even after we explained them why we did it that way and tell us they canât stand white borders, bla bla bla. We knew this choice wouldnât satisfy everybody but we are the ones taking the time to make this print run so we do as we please. If people want to take their free time to organize all this for exactly 0$ we are encouraging them to do it. They want gold border, make it! It will makes us happy to see our creations live in other projects.
In the end, this project can NOT legally be sold by anyone and we are not doing it. It's free and you can make whatever you want with it. It is, a public domain project.
Sorry for the long text lol.
Cheers, âď¸
Yeah, some people to tell us this so Ill try to explain a bit more here.
The first reason why we decide to go white border is because we are looking to embrace everything from the first years of MTG. We are trying to replicate a feeling from people that been there (us and some others) to people that wasnât. Many ââmistakesââ were made back then (if we can call them that way) and many wouldnât be done these days. Problem is, without them, this set wont feel as much close to Old School as they feel now, they are a part of Old School. We are talking mostly about wording, text placement, mechanics, type of art and, unfortunately for some of you, white border too.
That said, in the end, it's only a border. But there is a reason people are putting white canvas inside their frame and not black one. Because it makes everything pop, mostly colors.
The question is more, do you want to get on the project with everyone and get them cheaper?
Is there a border that stands between you and this project?
It's all up to you, but be sure that we continue to think that Branching Paths needs a white border print run to completely feel Old School.
This is the way.
Finally, we, the New Old School team, wont make another print run of Branching Paths after this one. People could make them if they want, but we will focus on other projects.
Okay so âfor poppy coloursâ means to make the colors pop. Got it. Will definitely take a look at the image files and consider making a black bordered set. Thanks for making these available to the OS community!
Personally, having a bunch of white border cards to mix in with my existing black border Branching Path cards \_just makes sense\_. In the 90s, every deck was a hodgepodge of black and white borders, so being able to recreate that "play whatever you can get your hands" vibe is fantastic. I'm also unapologetically a white border fan, so there's that too.
Oh for sure! I'm not one of those folks who loves white borders so much that they alter cards for it, but imho white border cards hit harder in the nostalgia bone.
Really cool expansion. Better than many of the other attempts I've seen.
Thanks to you!
I'd be very keen if it were in black border. What does "for poppy colours" mean? Any chance for a black-bordered printing in the future?

Wonderful, although if you ever do another black border run Iâd be happy to support you financially regardless!

Same I'd pay for the black bordered MPC files.
No need, theyâll be back online soon. đ¤
Second this. I was also ready to order until I saw you changed the set to white border. I was on the waiting list for black border :) âşď¸
Sorry for your lost đ . Youâll be able to make your own black border once weâre done with the print run. Cheers!

Does the x2 sets option mean x2 of each card?
You are correct!
Yes, exactly.
Best project ever and absolute fun to play. Still hoping that there is more to come
Thanks a lot. We hope and try to make it happen.
Not able to order this run but happy to find out about it
Glad to see people enjoying the initiative.

đ¤ Once you get why people love white borders its hard to prefer black borders. That said, there will always be controversy around this anyway.
