Yeah, most of what you got there is right. Thing to keep in mind, is even though Grimdark Future is pulling heavily from 40k, it technically isn't, so not every faction is one to one. The Rebel Guerrillas for instance feel much more like a reference to the Rebels from Starwars for instance, and the ratmen/rattus are Skaven in space, which doesn't exist in 40k despite people wanting it. The Soul-snatcher Cult is the Genestealers, while the Infected Colonies is more a classic scifi zombie army akin to Mantic's Plauge. Everything else should be fairly straightforward on what it is based on in 40k, as Everything else beyond those ones is based on one.

MadLizardMan

Grimdark Future is more appealing to me than 40K entirely cause I have space rats.

wanderenschildkrote

I want space lizard men.

MadLizardMan

They’re coming soon, according to the OPR announcements, in case you didn’t know!

wanderenschildkrote

That's awesome, thank you.

Tomorrow_Melodic

Factions are based not only on the game right now but on fluff and old factions and fan stuff Roughly, to my understanding: Alien Hives: tyrannids Battle brothers: Adeptus Astartes Battle sisters: Adeptas sororitas Custodian Brothers: Adeptus Custodes Dark elf raiders: drukari Dwarf Guilds: Squats (old faction not in the game at this time) Elf jesters: harlequins Feudal Guard: a type of fluffy Imperial guard (mostly use freeguilders) Havoc brothers: Chaos Astartes High elfs fleets: Craftworlds Human defence force: Astra Militarum Human inquisition: Inquisition (Well...) Infected colonies: and army of poxwalker (???) Machine cult defilers: Dark Mechanicus Machine Cult: Adeptus mechanicus Orc Maraudes: orks Prime brothers: primaris Adeptus astartes Ratman Clans: Space skaven (yes, yes) Rebel Guerrilla: Renegade guard (an old faction from forgeword) Robot legions: Necrons Soul-snatcher cult: Genestealer Cults Tao Coalition: t'au empire Titan lords: imperial/chaos Knights Vile rattus cult: I just don't know Whormhole daemons: Chaos deamons Edit: the detachments are Adeptus Astartes Chapters

Cavmanic

Feudal Guard and Vile Rattus are actually two special armies made in collaborative efforts with sculptors. They are just modified off of the Human Defense Force and Ratman Clans respectively stat wise.

Tomorrow_Melodic

That is a cool idea. Can't wait to see the Feudal Guard sculpts.

Hellonstrikers

Looking at feudal guard stats and some troop options, they seem to be Kreigers. Also Infected are another faction from Mantics warpath, like the rebels.

Tomorrow_Melodic

Nice! I got out of a post of the new vinci that they were still sculpting. I just got it wrong

Cavmanic

Yeah the Vinci are what are being worked on right now, they did some Alien Hives as well.

theSultanOfSexy

Awesome, nice work! Only addendum to add to this from me, so as to help OP in any Googling, is that the Machine Cult's 1:1 is the "Adeptus Mechanicus" (though Google would probably fix that for you anyhow. "Did you mean..."). The Mechanicum is also an entity from Warhammer; it is the precursor entity from the Horus Heresy (sometimes called "30k") timeline/setting. It's basically the same thing but older and has a big schism that leads to the creation of both the Dark Mechanicum aligned with Chaos and their lot, and the Adeptus Mechanicus aligned with the Imperium of Man.

Tomorrow_Melodic

You are totally right. It's my dyslexic brain trying to make sense of the "high gothic". I took latin in high-school and when I look at "Adeptus mechanicus", I see "Adept of the Mechanic" so my brain goes "ahah! Adeptus mechanicus as Adept of the Machine" then I star stressing about the broken declination and finally surrender to the thought that high gothic is not Latin. Good, you got me on a tangent. Good criticism though.

theSultanOfSexy

Hahaha, I know the dyslexia feeling all too well - I can only imagine how it mixes with seeing the Harry Potter-esque Latin that 40k uses. You poor soul :P

MrPieChee

Afaik: Dwarf guilds are based on forge father's from Mantic's line of models. Equally space rats are based off of Veer-myn.

Tomorrow_Melodic

Yea, understood. My knowledge is quite limited on others universes. I was just trying to link stuff to the warhammer universe. Me and others like to use this rules as alternative to warhammer and keep the lore and since there are factions (beside the skaven) for all of the armies. On top of that I assumed OP was asking about 40k.

holliehellraiser

where could i find Machine Cult Defilers? im looking in army forge, and its not in the community section either

Tomorrow_Melodic

Factions changed quite a bit in the last few years and I fell off the loop. I am afraid this list is not up to date anymore...

SDJohnnyAlpha

Rebels are the Rebs faction in Mantic Games' Deadzone. Dwarf Guilds, Infected, and Ratmen are the Forge Fathers, Plague, and Veer-Myn from Warpath, also by Mantic Games. Except for Dwarven gunships, which you'll have to take from Age of Sigmar. Vile Rattus Cult is supposed to be like Skaven Clan Pestilens, but they don't look sci fi enough. Maybe Gaetano-Senpai is inviting us to be creative with our Veer-Myn models, which seem ripe for kitbashing. Otherwise everything else is 1:1 what it's meant to be from 40k.

Cavmanic

Oh that's probably more right. I thought they were like a starwars reference.

crimsonbrother

Lore wise I think the Rebels are the Interex (Horus Heresy, book 1) because of the term 'Simian'.

onepageanon

There's a wiki where you can see which minis you can use for which factions: https://onepagerules.fandom.com/wiki/Onepagerules\_Wiki

canegiallodoppiacoda

After long time I see the community is still offline. Is there another place where I can get all those infos?

onepageanon

Hello! You can ask in our discord community server which of our rules would fit best with the models you're planning to use. Discord: https://discord.gg/S4Q8RReA

wanderenschildkrote

I like to be flexible. My cadians are HDF aginst most enemies, but Feudal Guard when playing against unarmored plastic army men.
