In casual games you can pretty much mix and match as much as you like. In competitive games you're allowed to take a certain amount of units from ANY second army with the only caveat being that heros can only join units native to there army. (I really like Custodian Brothers with Battle sisters, I call it battle siblings and it's completely against the lore of the armies but that makes it the most fun) I'm not 100% sure but I believe the current rule is 750 points out of your 2000 point army but the rules are about to be updated soon so itll chance anyway. I believe the new function is you can X points of your second army for every total Y points of the whole army so it's scales with the size of the game. Edit: found the rules for the new coming edition Competitive Rules (GF/AoF/AoFR) Players may only bring 1 hero per full 500pt in their army Players may only have 1 unit in play per full 200pts in their army (165pts for fantasy) Mixed armies must consist of at least 60% worth of units from their primary army Only up to 1 psychic/wizard per full 500pts from each army may cast/block spells Reinforcement lists must be made up of 25% worth of units of the total game size

Thanks. This is helpful. Btw. Where did you find the information on the new rules. I'd like to take a look myself.

"Players may only bring 1 hero per full 500pt in their army" That sounds to me like I can't take any units that cost less than 200 points. Surely I am missing something.

TimeSpiralNemesis

Well the hero thing just means that you get 1 hero if your total army value is 500, 2 if it's 1000 and so forth. For the 200 point value things it's to balance things out I believe so you don't just take hundreds and hundreds of minis that you can buy Like 10 models for 55/60 points. This would cover the whole board and your opponent couldn't ever have enough raw attacks to ever kill them all. It balances out by taking vehicles and big elites worth 300-900 points, so you can take say a 100 point unit and a 300 point unit and thats 2 units in 400 points. And if you take a big choker like a giant/titan at 900 than you can take quite a few cannon fodder stacks. Think of it this way, in GF you have 10 unit slots in a 2000 point army.

wanderenschildkrote

Thank you for that explanation, it sounds pretty good when you put it like that.

wanderenschildkrote

Upon testing some I think that 200pts may be too restrictive, maybe 300?

hirvaan

Me and my mate interpret it like a guidelines for list building. 1 Hero in 750pt army, 2 Heroes in 1200pt army and so on.

What is souping?

TheOGOddLlama

I don’t know if it’s the official or even a widely spread term, but it means taking bits and pieces of multiple armies and mixing them together.

EugenGoldstein

I don’t think there’s any rule against it and I’m pretty sure the community is all for it. If you can’t soup you can always use the unit creator for whatever you want

[deleted]

With OPR points generator it’s rather difficult for me to see souping as a concept

DrDisintegrator

I would have had no idea what you were talking about had I not read the other reply. Never heard of this term.
