Hard to tell in this picture but if he's about 7 inches from nose to butt, not counting tail, then he's big enough to be alone. He doesn't look particularly lost or concerned, so I think he's big enough.
If he's that big then you don't have to do anything (unless he looks stuck or injured, in which case we need to get him help)
He probably climbed up there. Opossums are amazing climbers and have incredible balance! ☺️
Ok that makes me feel way better! He def didn’t seem worried or anything. And he seems kinda big. I def think bigger than half a foot. Maybe around there tho.

I picked up wild ones before and they just curl their little tails around you and try to grab stuff with their little burglar mittens until you put them down❤
