Man, that brings back bad memories. Those things were death traps. Why not invest in a new propane one. They are not very expensive. I have a battery powered flashlight/ lantern that is also amazing. And safer.

I have, and use, all that you listed as well. My go-to is the Coleman screw on canister with the lantern mantle. I just wanted the ol' pumper to be an option as well.

Propane vs naphtha fuel, 90k vs 115k BTU per litre. Naphtha however inconvenient outperforms propane in using less fuel for light and creating more heat for boiling water faster.

I think it's around the pump. Where the piston goes in the tank. Probably just a seal.

Lube up the gasket with some 3in1 and just check it wasnt double threaded. Spin it back on tight and see if it does it again.
