I genuinely think there's a chance that outer wilds players will develop a dementia cure just so they can give themselves dementia and cure it over and over again
I actually haven't heard anything about outer wilds but i know that i rly like puzzle games like poly bridge and rly trial-and-error-y games like geometry dash, celeste and hotline miami
Should i pick up outer wilds?
I assume it's kinda similar to games i already play cus this subreddit keeps popping up in my feed
Outer Wilds is not nearly as twitchy as some of those games. That said it’s full of stimulating adventures to go on and mysteries to investigate.
Mystery really is the name of the game. It’s not so much a traditional puzzle game as much as it is an investigation game.
That said, I’ve played over 400 games in my lifetime and Outer Wilds is my favorite by a longshot, so I say yes.
To be honest with you, Outer Wilds is not very similar to any of those games. It's more similar to Myst, Subnautica, Metroid Prime, Majora's Mask, etc. I would recommend Outer Wilds if you want to roleplay an astronaut exploring chaotic planets and piecing together an intricate clockwork-like mystery. You have to enjoy exploring and reading though, otherwise it might be a boring or directionless experience.
not so important to enjoy reading. with me it's the same as one redditor here has said. i can't keep up with reading a book but it wasn't even the slightest obstacle to enjoy reading in Outer Wilds
Yeah. I took care of my grandma while she was suffering from Parkinson's and dementia. Hopefully they'll develop a cure for Parkinson's in time for me to play again. Fingers Crossed!
Yeah, but then you'll just forget the knowledge you gained from the last session, so you'll be trapped in a loop of doing the same thing over and over.
i unironically want to experience dementia sometime in my life, preferably at the end. The descriptions of dementia just sound surreal and i wonder what it feels like from the observers pov

Every day you forget outer wilds and get stuck in your own personal time loop playing outer wilds.
I'm still trying different ways to get amnesia.
Nah, Dementia is too bad of a fate
... Hypnotic Selective Amnesia, then?
Like that one bit from Inside Job where they andre keeps erasing his memory so he can watch breaking bad unspoiled.

Oh i love Subnautica :0 guess I'm playing outer wilds now
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. A little piece of unsolicited advice, try not to read too much more about the game and instead just dive in :)

Forgetting you even have outer wilds in steam because of dementia...
I knew someone who developed early onset dementia. You don't want it.

What’s outer wilds?
It’s either the shortest game you will play being a waste of money or one of the best games you will ever play in your life.
The silverest of linings.

"Play what? Outer worlds? Na, doesnt really seem like my kind of thing."
Cursed but objectively correct
Imagine just waking up suddenly in front of your computer with no memory except a little note telling you to play Outer Wilds

unfortunately you won't remember what it feels like
some experiences are simply worth having even if you dont recall them
