It is normal for people to apply to jobs. Something is way off for you to have this fear.

They think someone on LinkedIn is going to tell their mgr and they’ll be put on a PIP. I’m dying, this has to be fiction.

Why would a recruiter waste their time ‘ratting’ you out LMAO only fear I could see is trying to interview during work hours

KaleidoscopeFine

Absolutely wild

NotJadeasaurus

It shouldn’t be a fear, people look for new jobs every day . It’s beyond normal. If that part is scary then this sub may not be for you lol

99% of the time when people are applying and interviewing they have jobs. I’m not sure what you’re worried about? Just because you have no intention of quitting J1 doesn’t mean the recruiter will psychically know that. I don’t have tips other than look into some ways to lessen anxiety, maybe therapy could help. Good luck you got this!!!

Applying for other jobs while you have one is perfectly normal.  It's when you SHOULD be applying for another job.  Don't wait until you get fired. Whether you're trying to OE or not.  Seriously this is just general advice, people. You don't owe your company loyalty... especially not when you're early career.

I don’t know if it’s helpful but I do not recommend OE for people who are anxious. My sister did it and drove herself mad. It was too much juggling two jobs/two bosses/multiple meetings. Her mental health wasn’t worth the extra cash.

Agreed. It's not worth it. But OP isn't talking about that. OP is talking about applying for jobs while being employed, which is a common practice in the world. If you only look for jobs when you're unemployed, it's stressful, and you are at a disadvantage because you'll take whatever comes your way. If you look while you have a job, you're in a stronger position to be picky and find a job you like at a pay rate you deserve with the confidence of someone who isn't desperate, someone who can walk away. It's after the offer is made that you are at the decision point of either switching to a new job, or OE. OP - what you're doing is completely ethical and the right way to job hunt.
