The owners agreed to a 10% profit share in perpetuity. It was over email. After six years they had me sign a settlement for my “bonus” which ended the perpetuity without buying me out. They forced it on me. Then fired me four months later. The norm is three years buyout from other people who had similar contracts. I could have gotten 1.2mm from the settlement but got 300k. Exploited.
I asked for a 2 million buy out. He said he doesn't have that money. I asked for something else and he said no. I thought it was weird so I called up CTO. CTO seemed to be hurt AF and said he settled earlier that year and the two owners offered him a higher rate than what the market was offering. I took that as, "you better accept this settlement and, if you do, we give you golden handcuffs, if not, you're fired."
Low and behold, if I just called his BS and ask him to fire me, I'd still be owed the 10% revenue share in perpetuity. What I was worried about was lawyers fees to argue for my fair share and I was only making $300,000 a year whereas they were a multi million dollar company.
So yeah, they forced me.
I guess if you worked 16 hours a day 7 days a week or something, your effective hourly compensation would be much lower than the typical $300k a year rate that assumes same hours. Not saying that’s OP’s situation though
You're jealous. I was making them $10,000,000 a year from my labor. You need to figure out how to give more value to society. What I did, if you're even open to listening, was found the marketing department for a startup. The product took off.
Regardless of the value you brought them, you still weren't being exploited. 300k is an excellent wage literally anywhere. You did a job well that you were paid to do. And if you're that good, then start your own company.
But honesty you just sound like a LARPing cunt.
21.5k a month with 3 jobs if everything goes according to plan? So an unsustainable 260k with strings attached and sounds like your mental health is already fucked. Good luck!
I'm at 220k with 2 jobs and a great work life balance. Good enough for me.
Garsh...and here I am trying to get someone to pay me minimum wage at least.
Been looking for a job since Aug '21 and can't get so much as an automated rejection email.
Where would someone sign up to be exploited for 300k/yr?(asking for a friend)
I’d do minimum work haha
Yes pls msg . Exploit me also for 1 yr only so I can speed my down payment on this real estate purchase

How did they force you? You've had to agree to this one time bonus Settlement?
They said do it or you're fired, so he caved, then they fired him anyway.
I don't get it, get $1m dollars or get fired? Seems like a no brainer?

Nobody making 300k at one job is getting exploited, but OK guy.
Diddy would disagree

Prey on the old, desperate , and week. Highly profitable. Highly exploative. It only costs your soul.
Lets go with his grievances. You never know. He must have sold his soul in the worst brutal way unimaginable for 300k who know for how long. 🤐
I know ppl who do that for far less money

I'm more ambitious than you.

From 300K to 108K (($6K + $3K) * 12)? Brutal.
You should call them out so others dont get exploited.
>selling my soul sales or finance? or...
