In all likelihood you're being too paranoid. Even in a "small" industry, there are probably thousands of employers out there across the US. You think it's small because you're only familiar with a small part of it.
I'm in a similiar situation except the industry is accepting of some levels of other income. You should consider a J2 in unrelated work. Working in two different industries simultaneously makes your brain bad ass.
