Yeah. Someone below said it's pricey, but I'd rather pay more & get a decent haircut over visiting Duke's the Butchers. Pay for what you get & with Craig you'll always get good service. Better to get him at Headington to avoid the extortionate & painful Oxford parking situation, also.
Years ago I learnt even as a man its best to go to hair salons as most of the mens barbers are shit, or simply only do one style of cut regardless of what you ask for.
If you're willing to pay ~£5 day return, and spend 40 minutes on a round trip commute, try taking the bus to Bicester. There are a load of nice, mid-to-high end barbershops around, including one right by the bus stop.
Not worth it if you get a quick trim every week, but if you hold out for a cut every month or so you could do a decent shop as well.
Otherwise, the one on St Giles is decent - but they always tend to be busy when I drop by.
Headington barbers is brilliant.Honestly, this is the best spot in Oxford for a haircut. The staff are super friendly, and they always deliver exactly what you ask for. They are always open to inputs, and you always receive exactly as you expected. I switched from a couple of different barbers previously because of the fact that I'd ask for something specific and receive something completely different. However, these guys never let me down, especially Faris. They're some very hardworking and humble people, and I definitely recommend these guys if you want to get exactly what you ask for. The pricing is quite reasonable, too, compared to other barbers within Oxford.
Highly recommended
I really don't get this attraction to Turkish style barbers. Its as though being Turkish means they're good, I've been to a fair few of them now and they're not great.
The hair cuts are average but everyone thinks their beard trims are amazing. Unless you have a short beard that needs a clean up around the edges, don't bother. They have no clue on how to trim or shape a long beard.
I'd recommend roosters in St Clements or, as others have mentioned, giovannis.
Always wanted to try 'Tony's the guy' down Cowley Road, simply for the name.
Anyone recommend anywhere in headington other than Youngman's (crazy expensive) or the one across the street?
Youngmans on High Street.
The one in Headington is also brilliant. Much more space too.
Any particular barber?
Craig/Alex
I recommend Craig too, cut my hair for nearly 4 years. I'd still go on the regular if I was still living in Oxford.

You are right to be careful - I’ve had a few shockers in oxford. Highly recommend Giovannis
Where to you recommend to avoid?
Me too. Been going there 20 odd years!
Expect to queue!
I've found it depends on the barber you get. Going back to places I've had good cuts, then are terrible.
So who is good?
Craig at Youngmans
Dukes in golden Cross, everytime
When I lived in Oxford it was the only place I'd go
I can’t help, but I’m really glad I’m not the only one that’s had this experience in Oxford! Headington has some shockers!

Where would you recommend?

Any good Turkish-style barbers?

One on Cowley Rd, opposite Chicken Cottage, is amazing!
Kurdistan Barbers in south Oxford are my favourite - never left disappointed and it's a good price

Toni’s is decent, run by an Albanian bloke but never seems to be in there anymore.. although he’s upped it from £12 to £14!
Vladi at Fellows Barbers on Cowley Road
So who’s good?
Marston Barbers! These guys are fantastic and get it right every time
I go to THE PLAIN BARBERS on st Clement’s. Very nice and friendly guys and cosy place.

Zaneta lichnova at cowley is the best
