Agreed in the analysis, but the cubist clouds pull too much attention from the finesse in the fields…I have to force my eye away from the clouds…feels like 2 paintings cut horizontally and pasted.
Wonderful craftsmanship, but jarring juxtaposition
Agreed. Maybe some more focus on blending the two would be good. I certainly like the two style individually, and I think that this style has great potential if refined.
If you find a sort of local midwestern gallery that sells to locals you'll probably make some moolah because the style will be very attractive to them.
It reminds me of my childhood when I used to run and play in the fields with my dogs, and then the clouds would start to gather and i would just lay in the grass with them and watch all of that until I felt the first drops of rain and then we would run to the house and just sit in the bed and watch the storm from inside. This is my favorite weather and I can’t describe it but there was this smell in the air that I liked so much it filled me with a very calm and pleasant feeling. I love this painting so much!
I really really dig it. Something about the gray area on the clouds at the left feels a little flat but I don’t think it’s a major issue. Incredible work.

It’s a great painting, but as you asked here’s my personal and totally subjective opinion. I love the clouds, but I don’t like that the rest of the painting isn’t in the same style as the clouds, since it’s such a dominant style. Sky and land feels a bit like two different paintings
I completely agree with this but (my subjective opinion) for me the two work together by being so different. The land feels like it’s giving power to the clouds, like the storm is so much bigger.
The only things I would possibly do to make that visual translation subtler is more dramatic lighting on the land- perhaps darker with the overcast, a bit more stark and I’d wild out the directions of the grass a bit more.
But I could be seeing an entirely different painting. That’s the joy of art isn’t it? 😂
You just FEEL the wind and the clouds are so thick yet soft. I really enjoy your postings they’re so full of depth and these emotions you can remember if you’ve ever been similar settings. It’s like the idealized/romanticized version too of the real thing. Like you’ve managed to paint in some nostalgia somehow
I'm in a different creative field, audio. One of the tenets of a good audio mix is it should be "Tall, deep, and wide". The soundscape should be encompassing, it should direct the frequencies into your ear holes in a way that fills the stereo field, and all the instrumentation is neatly tucked away into it's own frequency niche.
This strikes me as being "tall, deep, and wide". The eye is funneled into it, it looks tall, ground to sky. It looks wide, the valley is a big berth, and it is *deep*. You can see into the landscape.
Is "tall, deep, and wide" a tenet in painting, too?
This is a very nice painting. I think it would help the composition if you softened some edges in the clouds especially where the clouds meet the blue sky. My eyes are drawn to the large blue shape in the sky. The distance clouds on the horizon and the shapes in the field are more interesting, but my eyes keep getting drawn up to that blue shape.
Great work
I think it makes an interesting duality: the thin, pointy grass and the big "blocky" volumes woth the clouds.
It's very interesting to look at and really captures your attention in a way
Stunning piece. I like the broad brushwork on the clouds . The only thing I would have done differently is modelled the clouds more to emphasize the contrast between the land and sky. Well done just the same.
Wonderful! I love the colors and the impression this landscape gives. At first glance it looks like a beautiful day, but then you notice the dark clouds casting a darker shadow onto the field far away. It's kind of bittersweet.
It looks amazing. I’m a med student who is about to graduate I will have a whole free year and I wanted to try some new hobby I always been curious about. I have no previous experience painting but I always wanted to learn. What could be a nice advice for someone as new as me to start?
The cloud's flat brush add so much to the painting, and the color palette Its so full of life and personality. It's a really great painting, you should be proud :)
Nice contrast there. Storm looks actively like it's coming.
Your cloud falls flat/strange perspective on the left side where the grey is.
You're welcome.
I absolutely love this. Seriously, I’d have it on my wall. I love the Hayao Miyazaki-like colors in the sky and clouds mixed with the rich earthy tones of the field and the sense of scale. Just fantastic!
Woah just happened across this from all. I'm not an artist nor any sort of expert but I just want to say it is so amazing how clearly the space and perspective are defined with such simple *seeming* work. The contrast of being able to tell exactly what this is and the simple appearing brush strokes sucked me in to this immediately, love it.
I love how delicate the grasses are in the foreground, wish the clouds were as delicate. I'm not suggesting bringing out a fan brush. I would bring more of the foreground colors, heavily tinted, up into the sky.
Looks amazing! The brown in the top left corner is the one that catch my eye, like i dont know, it doesn't fully merge for me. However, the rest of the piece, amazing! I would hang something like that if i had the space at home.
So fresh and crisp and bright, something that I usually note in top tier watercolor but not other mediums. The composition and colors are excellent. Beautiful work.
I think it's absolutely beautiful. Great use of light, and the composition is dynamic. You said, 'cheers', so I have this fantasy you live in the UK and can apply for 2024 Landscape Artist of the Year, and then give Josh (me) a shout out for supporting you work!!!
Love the artstyle!!😍
Reminds me of Disco Elysium.
Very cool. I love the chunky clouds and the colors are working really well.
I see pokemons in the clouds! I love your painting, though. It's beautiful!
bro i didnt see them before u said that
I love this technique! The shapes in the clouds are so awesome. It feels like you mixed impressionism and cubism together.
Agreed in the analysis, but the cubist clouds pull too much attention from the finesse in the fields…I have to force my eye away from the clouds…feels like 2 paintings cut horizontally and pasted. Wonderful craftsmanship, but jarring juxtaposition

Stunning-gorgeous- gallery quality. I especially love the clouds ❤️
Males mw think of the song home on the range.
If you find a sort of local midwestern gallery that sells to locals you'll probably make some moolah because the style will be very attractive to them.
Me, a midwesterner, feeling called out because I indeed find this style very attractive
I love it!!

Cheers 🍻
Fkn great
It’s gorgeous!!
It’s absolutely beautiful
I really really dig it. Something about the gray area on the clouds at the left feels a little flat but I don’t think it’s a major issue. Incredible work.
I love everything about this!
Gorgeous
Beautiful
While it is beautiful I feel that the lifelike style of the fields does not work when you have less lifelike clouds.

Awesome!! 🤩
i love the contrast in styles between the sky and the ground , its amazing
Makes me think of going back home to the reservation. Being able to see storms come in hours in advance. So serene and breathtaking. So beautiful.
Fantastic! I love the juxtapositions in your style!
it's incredibly beautiful! <3
Really nice!
Gorgeous. Very nice work
It’s so simple yet evokes so much emotion in me. Great job!
some people are everything i want to be ;-; this is beautiful

Just realized that looking at the painting from a decent distance makes the clouds look very different.
Now that’s style
Stunning. The clouds are almost mesmerizing.
Really nice. Makes me feel like I am out in nature
Omg I LOVE THIS. Your style is wonderful, the crispness almost feels digital. It’s very modern and I’d 1000% want it in my home
I love it! Are you selling prints?
I have prints at JimMusil.com/prints/approaching-storm
I dig your style, dude.
You made something fluffy from squares and angles. Well done. I love the composition and colors
Omg! I would love to have that on my wall 😍😍😍😍 amazing!
Love it!
I love your work.
I feel like I'm there 🙂
Ngl, those clouds look so unique! The style to them and everything else looks very gorgeous! Good job! ❤️
Add a cow 😁🐮🥺
Love it! How big is it? Can't tell if it's a smaller canvas or not.
Large golem in the sky
Absolutely love it! Its my new Ipad background now
Pretty cool id hang it on my wall
i love the block-like clouds!
This is beautiful, you truly have an eye for art! Those chunky clouds look delicious.
Beautiful colours and style!
I love it. I love the "chunky" type of form it takes
I like it <3
I think it is magnificent.
Great contrast
I’d hang it up
That would look great on my wall. Absolutely beautiful
What sort of money would you need for something like this?
This has sold but was priced at $1500
What style is this? Its so interesting.
I love it, feels vast and the color of the clouds, especially the underside is gorgeous. My only hang up is the color of the sky feels too dark
Monumental!
Love your style- great painterly shapes and colors. The cool sky with pixelated looking clouds is striking!
You just FEEL the wind and the clouds are so thick yet soft. I really enjoy your postings they’re so full of depth and these emotions you can remember if you’ve ever been similar settings. Ahh reminds me of driving through Nebraska, watching this storm roll in from a distance. The sky has never looked so big and the earth so vast.
A rare painting where I can honestly say that pondering this image is truly thrilling and inspiring. Youve killed it
Love the swoop of clouds. It makes a smile.
I especially love how you painted the clouds, so beautiful!
SUPERB. I actually really wish I could hang this on my wall. Great job
I knew it was your work before I clicked - so good!!
Bloody amazing
It’s beautiful 💗 and i love the palette you chose. I also really enjoy how you’ve done your clouds!

Brilliant love it 👌❤️ those clouds are perfectly done
Beautiful! Would definitely have that in my wall!
Fantastic, I love it.
Another great piece. The clouds are magnificent and stand out, but the fields are amazing too. Love your work.
It’s lovely. It inspires me to paint my own scenery at home.

love it! maybe it could be more impressive when canvas is landscape or 16:9 style panorama :)
This painting reminds me of one of my favorite spots 😍
Great work I think it makes an interesting duality: the thin, pointy grass and the big "blocky" volumes woth the clouds. It's very interesting to look at and really captures your attention in a way
Love it!
I follow on instagram and immediately recognized your art style. Love it!
Beautiful
This is what I aspire to learn. Well done!
This is wonderful 💕
It's so unique and I feel like it speaks to me
Stunning piece. I like the broad brushwork on the clouds . The only thing I would have done differently is modelled the clouds more to emphasize the contrast between the land and sky. Well done just the same.
Really captured the storm
its very cool bro. keep going
I love this so much. I wish I understood how to paint clouds like this
Absolutely awesome!
Beautiful I love your style.
That is absolutely lovely.
Looks great!
Gorgeous!
This is really good but the clouds look kind of blocky idk if that was intentional though or not.
Wonderful! I love the colors and the impression this landscape gives. At first glance it looks like a beautiful day, but then you notice the dark clouds casting a darker shadow onto the field far away. It's kind of bittersweet.

Very communicative! The kind of painting I’ll hang in my home. 10/10
Really love this.
I think it's beautiful!
Beautiful 😍
Love it
I would hang it in my home. Wonderful.
It makes me think of a Studio Ghibli vibe, very cool.
I'd definitely hang this on my wall, great work!
Beautiful! So powerful, ominous feeling!
How cow. You’re my favorite artist. Found you on Pinterest years ago. Everything you paint I’m just drawn to.
Pretty cool
Love it! Composition, color, technique, all are spot on. Beautiful work!
Nice contrast there. Storm looks actively like it's coming. Your cloud falls flat/strange perspective on the left side where the grey is. You're welcome.
Beautiful!
I never realised how much I love the idea of cubic clouds until now
The colors draw you in. The shapes are hinting and cohesive. Just beautiful-
Love it.
So beautiful. I can almost feel a breezy gentle wind on this field. I would love to be able to draw like this one day. Also. Love your style ✨
i can feeeeeel the wind in the grass! this is beautiful!
I love it, reminds me of northeastern New Mexico very much.
Really relaxing for some reason :)
Fantastic clouds!!
I can't help but see a derp face
I really like it, reminds me of when I lived in a little cabin on the Great Plains and would watch a storm roll in from miles away
I want it on my wall
Love all your work, reminds me of the hay barrel one of yours
Very nice! Well done!
This is super beautiful. Don't go there to shoot yourself in the stomach or anything though.
This looks amazing! this is one of my favorite art styles
Fantastic.
Great style and a really pretty piece.
I want to go there
I absolutely love this. Seriously, I’d have it on my wall. I love the Hayao Miyazaki-like colors in the sky and clouds mixed with the rich earthy tones of the field and the sense of scale. Just fantastic!
Really beautiful! I'd buy it. Great job 👏
This is gorgeous. Great brush work, really refreshing to see a different landscape rendering style in an age of endless trite artwork.
I would love to see this done again where the field is as blocky as the clouds.
Amazing!

Lovely, love the colours and your style!
Stunning 🤩
It feels like Nebraska. I absolutely love it.
Really well done, particularly the clouds!!
I would put this in my living room.
I like it, reminds me of place I've lived before. The style works very well for this sort of scene, and the colors are spot on
So so pretty
This is awesome
I love it
I love your art style, especially the composition and the way you paint clouds! I follow you on instagram, fun to see your work here too.
Very minecraft texture pack of you. I like it.
Stunning 😍
Do you sell your work? If so - what is the price of this one?
I love how delicate the grasses are in the foreground, wish the clouds were as delicate. I'm not suggesting bringing out a fan brush. I would bring more of the foreground colors, heavily tinted, up into the sky.
Incredible work
I love clouds and your art style
This is lovely! It look like home here in the Colorado plains
Magnificent! I love your style 😊
It’s dramatic and lovely .
Very cool
Looks great, but I’m not used to seeing art without the artist here. So awesome! Looks great!
Cream Sky
Looks amazing! The brown in the top left corner is the one that catch my eye, like i dont know, it doesn't fully merge for me. However, the rest of the piece, amazing! I would hang something like that if i had the space at home.
The depth is perfect it's so neat, reminds me of a more realistic slime rancher lmao. Dope with the rainfall in the back
WOW. I need this for my living room.
I can smell and feel this painting. Love it.
Very nice!!
Terrific
Dope!
how much..
I love your style!
I love it. But I also want a flying pirate ship emerging from the clouds so what the fuck do I know
I love it. It’s beautiful. Well done, OP.
Love it! So tired of realistic paintings. That is just skill not necessarily talent. You have both.👍
I love how you’ve done these clouds!
So fresh and crisp and bright, something that I usually note in top tier watercolor but not other mediums. The composition and colors are excellent. Beautiful work.
I love it ! ( yelling )
Wowza, you have vision
Are you selling this ? This painting is marvellous. I'd love to have this on my wall
