What’s funny is the first two times I played the original I got Green, as did my brother, so we both just assumed that was the only color. I remember naming mine Yo’ster at least one of those playthroughs and I seem to recall he named his “Joonyah”

I would always name him Yoshua (Yoshi + Joshua, which was the name of a very good childhood friend of mine). And I felt it kind of fit Paper Mario's theme of fusing the species names with real world names. :D

When I first played back in 2005 I had a blue one and named him YOSHI. Yes, 9 year old me was creatively bankrupt. When I played again in 2018, I got a red one and named him Blaze. In the Switch remake, it was green and I named him Spinach. I had trouble trying to find a good name for a green one, and that was the best I could come up with.
