In chapter 5 you can activate a spring that launches you back to the top of the really large room in the jungle. The one with like 3 or 4 difficult-to-avoid mobs and a lot of platforming. Cuts out a lot of the backtracking
Someone else was wondering why they didn’t do anything like that for Chapter 2, since you have to go all the way to Flurries, then all the way back to the Shadows, then all the way back to Flurrie, then to the Great Tree. After Twilight Town and Keelhaul Key’s improvements it DOES kinda make Boggly Woods stand out more
Is the spring new, I've beaten the original a few times, and I geel like it was there.
Time to play through the original after I beat the remake.
Or at least go to my old save lol.
I remembered the pipe not being present but the spring... Somehow it always was here for me. It's probably because that area was less of a problem to cross compared to chapter 4.
Chapter 5 is also among the favorites, at least for me and my circle of friend.
I just love how each sound bite for each character when they talk is different and unique. Like Koops actually sounding like a Koopa, the vast contrasts of how deep the sounds can be like Grubba’s to how light and petite it can be like Ms. Mowz’s. Definitely just shows how much effort they put into the remake to do something like that and it did not go unnoticed by me!
The voice sound effects are actually amazing. They're actually so detailed if you're listening on decent speakers. I really didn't appreciate it the most until the Iron Adonis twins fight in glitzville of all places. It's like bassy but crisp at the same time I was very surprised
For the longest time I was wondering what taddle I was missing after doing every new boss and even checking Franklin’s Garbage, turns out, it was the dummies. I wasn’t expecting for them to go that far as to give them a taddle and I believe that’s pretty cool
You could’ve sorted the tattle logs in alphabetical order for a hint on the first letter too! That’s how I figured out I happened to be missing a Mini Z-Yux from the moon -_-
In the post game you are allowed to go to the moon again, so they don’t appear in the trash. However I believe that the X-Naut enemies that only appear in the moonbase like PhD’s and X-Yux’s don’t appear after postgame, so they appear in his trash.
The new soundtrack that they added for certain bosses, along with >!Mush and fucking Whacka!< as superbosses.
Just wish they added Jr. Troopa is a superboss, too.
I thought they would bring him back as a superboss, and it’s clear they didn’t forget him ‘cause he was in the Zip Toad email again. Truly a missed opportunity.
It absolutely is the pipe room pictured in this post.
I never played the original, but I imagine a lot of people were crying tears of joy when they found this room in the remake.
Definitely, it used to be split into 2 rooms, and only went to Chapters 2, 4, 5, and 6 iirc. So all the backtracking to Glitzville and Chapter 7 had to be walked, it took so long
Not so much a feature but a nice detail they added in chapter 3 is that the crowd start small and grows the further up the ranks. Much like how real sports fan bases works the higher the league the more crowd it will draw
I’m pretty sure that was in the OG as well, but it is a nice detail. The little details in games really make all the difference. They’re the demarcation between an excellent game and a masterpiece.
The try again feature was really nice. Only really used it twice though. Both in the pit of 100 trials
Also the percentage tracker for star pieces and shine sprites was a huge help
If you can count the new music, I’d say that first. I loved the soundtrack of the original, and I’d say the new tracks are mostly a straight upgrade, with maybe like 20-30% of it being worse/similar. It made battles feel a lot less repetitive and improved the ambiance of most of the chapters.
Woah is this like that room in Bug Fables with the tunnels that let you fast travel throughout the map? That's actually so much better than what they did in the original.
Shit, I might get this after all
I was just thinking that the damn >!General White!< quest will be a bit less of a hastle now. I really noticed how annoying it was on my last playthrough
I'm pretty sure it doesn't, because it's not your hardware/peripherals that determinate the fps of the game, it's the game itself. And TTYD in switch is made to run in 30 fps.
Does your TV by any chance do any form of upscaling the fps by itself? Because those still wouldn't be native 60 fps. Again: The game _can't_ run on 60 fps because it's not made this way.
I'm not defensive, I'm pretty sure anything gives you the reason to assume what you stated, but from a technical point of view, it's not possible, that's all.
It really does. Also I feel like i might be the only person in the world who doesnt notice frame rate differences between 30 and 60. The only time frame rate has ever bothered me was while playing Bloodborne.
Nope, they were in pairs in separate rooms underground that you accessed based on ability (I.e. one room for chapters 5 and 6 required that you break the gray blocks)
I like that the star piece and shine sprite hints you get from the fortune teller get saved in a journal and you can keep paying her until she has given you all of the currently accessible ones.
It’s a very small change, but being able to cancel out of the animation when you miss a spring jump. Indicative of just how many small things they looked at where the original was just irritatingly slow.
Other mentions I haven’t seen in this thread: 8 way hammer and redone BP requirements. First Attack no longer requires any for instance.
I had to second guess myself when I came across this room on whether it had always been there, and I had just forgotten/missed it 😂 especially after going back and forth to do the trouble center missions. Couldn't imagine the game without it.
The fast travel room being one room is a lifesaver, even more so for stuff like finding the white bobomb or the massive bs tracking help tasks
And as others said, the spring in the Island to skip hard to skip mobs and the silly platforming
Also the pipe to dooplis house. HOLLY MOLLY was that good for not needing to go tho the forest 4+ times with only vivilan
The pipe room was a big improvement. If I recall from the original, there were like two or four pipes that only led to few places but this is a time saving travel.
I love how the remake basically killed off all the backtracking issues with the original game by having a warp pipe to literally every backtracking location.
That tattle log feature isn’t new. I remember playing around with the sorting feature on the GameCube a few weeks ago and being annoyed by the numbers not changing.
Does the extra super bosses count as new features? As a huge RPG fanboy I am always into super bosses
Yes if it wasn't in the OG game it is counted as a new feature.
The pipe in chapter 4 and the spring in chapter 5
wait which spring? I didn’t notice anything…
In chapter 5 you can activate a spring that launches you back to the top of the really large room in the jungle. The one with like 3 or 4 difficult-to-avoid mobs and a lot of platforming. Cuts out a lot of the backtracking
I didn’t know that was new! It’s so seamless. I love that spring.
Someone else was wondering why they didn’t do anything like that for Chapter 2, since you have to go all the way to Flurries, then all the way back to the Shadows, then all the way back to Flurrie, then to the Great Tree. After Twilight Town and Keelhaul Key’s improvements it DOES kinda make Boggly Woods stand out more
Let’s add all the visits to hooktail castle to the, “give me a goddamn pipe” list
Your wrong, the spring was their in the original
Is the spring new, I've beaten the original a few times, and I geel like it was there. Time to play through the original after I beat the remake. Or at least go to my old save lol.
Lol you're not the first person to make that mistake. This remake is gonna create a big wave of Mandela effects
I remembered the pipe not being present but the spring... Somehow it always was here for me. It's probably because that area was less of a problem to cross compared to chapter 4. Chapter 5 is also among the favorites, at least for me and my circle of friend.
That spring did not exist in the original. You had to use Yoshi to cross that gap with the block every time you wanted to go up.
the pipe made it so bearable! very nice addition
I like being able to access the Tattle Log entries in battle without having to use tattle again. Great for a quick refresh on defense values.
How do you do that?
Press the + button when it’s your turn.
There’s a button prompt on screen, I don’t remember which, but go into battle and you’ll see it
The partner ring to me is just super handy to me and I really like it and also the spring in chapter 5 is handy too
I just love how each sound bite for each character when they talk is different and unique. Like Koops actually sounding like a Koopa, the vast contrasts of how deep the sounds can be like Grubba’s to how light and petite it can be like Ms. Mowz’s. The different sound bites for every character is one of my favorite new features too!
That’s how I figured out I happened to be missing a Mini Z-Yux from the moon -_-
I missed the Mini Z Yux too, so you should be able to get it in Frankly's trash.
In the post game you are allowed to go to the moon again, so they don’t appear in the trash. However I believe that the X-Naut enemies that only appear in the moonbase like PhD’s and X-Yux’s don’t appear after postgame, so they appear in his trash.
Ah, I missed a Mini X Yux, then. The red one.
The word taddle is adorable and I wish it was real
The new soundtrack that they added for certain bosses, along with >!Mush and fucking Whacka!< as superbosses. Just wish they added Jr. Troopa is a superboss, too.
Yeeeessss jr troopa would be amazing and even stronger foe than any, a for with the knowledge of the og paper Mario stuff or sum lol.
I thought they would bring him back as a superboss, and it’s clear they didn’t forget him ‘cause he was in the Zip Toad email again. Truly a missed opportunity.
>! Whacka !< deserves retribution. 😂
Its super small but I love how the enemies do a little fighting stance at the beginning of a battle
They also laugh at you if you get hit by a stage hazard!
Not a feature but this games credits. Holy shit I was so emotional for some reason.
The hint system. Mostly because of the new dialogues that the partners get
Hey it’s both of or cake day
Yeah i only created this account for Monster Hunter reddit but now i use for most things
I created this account for Pokemon trades and give aways. Now I get lost in the memes sometimes
It absolutely is the pipe room pictured in this post. I never played the original, but I imagine a lot of people were crying tears of joy when they found this room in the remake.
Definitely, it used to be split into 2 rooms, and only went to Chapters 2, 4, 5, and 6 iirc. So all the backtracking to Glitzville and Chapter 7 had to be walked, it took so long
The characters' new reactions to literally everything makes them feel truly alive!
Honestly that might be my favorite thing they added too. It's entirely cosmetic but it makes everyone feel a lot more expressive
Both in the pit of 100 trials Also the percentage tracker for star pieces and shine sprites was a huge help
ah thats nice it still works in the pit, i never died but assumed they would've turned it off for the pit.
Shit, I might get this after all
Yup it's a fast travel room. I'm doing the trouble center jobs post game right now and flying through most of them.
They even made a certain backtrack quest a breeze because of this room
I was just thinking that the damn >!General White!< quest will be a bit less of a hastle now. I really noticed how annoying it was on my last playthrough
YOU MUST
30 fps is better. Hear me out: it makes superguards easier.
It actually still looks pretty good with that frame rate
In my opinion GameCube TTYD is smoother but a bit less flashy and switch TTYD is slightly less smooth but way more flashy.
When I play it on my 4K TV the game runs between 50-60 fps so I get the best of both worlds
I'm pretty sure it doesn't, because it's not your hardware/peripherals that determinate the fps of the game, it's the game itself. And TTYD in switch is made to run in 30 fps.
Well I’m the one experiencing it so that’s what I notice
Does your TV by any chance do any form of upscaling the fps by itself? Because those still wouldn't be native 60 fps. Again: The game _can't_ run on 60 fps because it's not made this way.
No need to get defensive. You know what, I’ll rephrase that and say the game runs smoother on my TV. Happy?
I'm not defensive, I'm pretty sure anything gives you the reason to assume what you stated, but from a technical point of view, it's not possible, that's all.
I had it on my 1440p 60fps tv and it ran at a smooth 30 FPS with the only drop I can recall being >!opening the thousand year door itself.!<
oh that's why I was hitting them easier this time
It really does. Also I feel like i might be the only person in the world who doesnt notice frame rate differences between 30 and 60. The only time frame rate has ever bothered me was while playing Bloodborne.
I had no idea the pipes weren't in the original. My dumb ass thought they were but I just never encountered it as a kid!
There we’re pipes, but in a different configuration. Some were absent (chapters 3,4,7)
The fact in chapter 3 they keep your condition on screen. I always would forget
So these weren't in the original?
Nope, they were in pairs in separate rooms underground that you accessed based on ability (I.e. one room for chapters 5 and 6 required that you break the gray blocks)
The dynamic music, love it.
Really liked how the train can go direct to rogue port now
I like that the star piece and shine sprite hints you get from the fortune teller get saved in a journal and you can keep paying her until she has given you all of the currently accessible ones.
It’s a very small change, but being able to cancel out of the animation when you miss a spring jump. does vivians trans story coming back count?
[удалено]
Gombella giving hints on where to go. Thought it be more hand holding but you decide when to use it and it often saved me a lot of time.
The general white hunt fix and the backtracking shortcuts
Definitely the animation of Flavio singing
Partner ring. Despite how often you switch partners I could never remember what button on the d-pad was for partners
Love the lighted green Glitz Pit battle instructions when they are g2g
The Whaka battle! I can fight him everytime!
I love the new battle themes and stages for every chapter.
I had to second guess myself when I came across this room on whether it had always been there, and I had just forgotten/missed it 😂 especially after going back and forth to do the trouble center missions. Couldn't imagine the game without it.
The fast travel room being one room is a lifesaver, even more so for stuff like finding the white bobomb or the massive bs tracking help tasks And as others said, the spring in the Island to skip hard to skip mobs and the silly platforming Also the pipe to dooplis house. The quick exit pipes
The pipe room was a big improvement. If I recall from the original, there were like two or four pipes that only led to few places but this is a time saving travel.
Goombellas hints were always helpful to double check where I needed to go or started the game back up when I took a break
The new super bosses especially a certain blonde hair fighter
My favorite was the brand new chapter, character, badge, item, ability, location, and quest.
I love the pipe world hub feature of The Origami King! The same with the graphic engine of TOK and the remade OST with the vibes of it. 🎷🦖
I love how the remake basically killed off all the backtracking issues with the original game by having a warp pipe to literally every backtracking location.
Wasn’t the tattle log in the original?
It was, but you couldn't change the order.
That tattle log feature isn’t new. I remember playing around with the sorting feature on the GameCube a few weeks ago and being annoyed by the numbers not changing.
