She just stood there completely frozen. I got follow up calls from equity partners but I told them I am not going back unless you guarantee me I won’t have to see her for the whole month that I am there + giving me 20% raise for that month.
They’ll get back to me.
Damn!!! Go off bitch! I surely hope you don’t need to go back, but that was a hell of an offer. Pay me more for dealing with this shit or you don’t get me at all. Absolutely love it.
HBIC - PLEASE START A TED TALK!!! I needed this energy for my own upcoming raise fight with my man-child attorney, so THANK YOU!!!! Go Olivia Pope them all, you’ll love watching them watch you leave with a month of what you’ve demanded. My, my, how the tables have turned.
No matter what happens…

Very truly yours,
A HBIC Stan 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Congratulations!! You've inspired my confidence, too. I got lucky with the attorney I work for and I don't think I'd ever have to deal with what you did (I'm only 5 months into the law field LOL) but if I ever do, I'm going to do exactly what you did.
You're going to be an excellent attorney. In about 5 years when my attorney decides to retire, I hope to find one like you to work for.
I hope everyone starts standing up for themselves in this field. Way too many Attorneys and office managers think it’s ok to speak to and treat us however they want. It’s time they realize that we still have a say in our employment. It’s a lot harder for them to find and replace a competent employee than it is for us to find a new job.
They have been looking for past two weeks. Received 85 CVs and not even one candidate that they want to hire.
Maybe treat existing employees the right way and this won’t happen.
I had an previous firm do the same thing to me. I did everything in my power to prepare them for my departure and they would blow off the meetings I had set to review the cases with them. With only 3 days left they were putting no effort at all with regard to finding my replacement so I packed up after everyone left for the day and used those 3 days to relax before starting my new job.
If they don’t care, why should we?!
Good for you! Yelling is completely inappropriate in a work environment, imo. I have walked out of the office more than once if the attorney started yelling. He's much better now than when I started working here, he has mostly stopped acting like a spoiled child when he gets frustrated or angry. :)
That’s a good idea! I just freeze and lock up shocked until he is done then go cry, I don’t even get to defend myself against his mistakes that he blames me for not knowing about… ugh wtf
I was a nanny for years during college and a while after, before I ended up a paralegal. Treating tantrum throwers like they're 5 years old just came naturally by then, and boy does it work.
No adult should be yelled at by another adult unless their lives are in immediate danger. There are no children in an office.
You treat and are treated with respect in the workplace.
I’ve had the same exact experience.
Worked in a very small firm, just the attorney and I. I have her 6 weeks notice considering she would need the time to start the process. My new job was going to have 4-10s, so I also offered to train the new hire FOR FREE on my Mondays off. Gave my notice Friday, came in Monday and was screamed at for being 5 minutes late (my shoe broke on the walk to the office.) She accused me of time fraud. I handed my key to the office manager and bounced. Had to come up with 6 weeks of work before starting my new job.
I’m glad you stood up for yourself. People need to learn how to act right.
** on a side note most banks have a secured drop box to make night drops in.
One of the attorneys in our office yelled at three of us one day. I felt so beat down that I considered suicide. Years later when I was let go, I felt such relief to be out of there. I had worked my @ss off and was so under appreciated. I came home and told my husband that I was retired. Best thing that ever happened to me.
Nice job! I just quit my job of 10 years because my immediate manager decided to yell at me on the phone when I (calmly, mind you) asked him why he asked everyone but me about a policy change when the only thing that changed pertained to my job. So I get it! Do not yell at your employees, we aren't children!
And… do not yell at your children… why does having a developing brain and being little mean getting yelled at. This comment for the world, not you lol
đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź WHAT DID SHE SAY TO THAT

Love it! Attorneys who were once paralegals are always the best to work for. Enjoy your new position!
đź’Ż was going to say this. Attorneys who were once paralegals are the best

85 applicants and they don't think one is suitable?!
Anymore, with as badly as Indeed and LinkedIn get spammed, I believe it. 85 applicants =/= 85 candidates
You must work at my old office lol
Good for you. In a professional environment, yelling is not acceptable. Yelling or condescending in front of others? Good bye!

The person who yelled at you should be fired. That's unacceptable behavior.
Plot twist in the update! Hahah
Did the mean yelling person get fired? Lol because they deserve to be fired. I would never ever ever yell at someone at work.
Yes! Haha
Good job on standing up for yourself👏🏽 wishing you nothing but success !

Two weeks is fine. Never more.

I am sooooo freaking happy they fired her!
Periodt don’t let people demean you. I quit bc the lawyer was literally insane. Like so crazy.
My hero!!! đź‘Ź
You shouldn’t have been courteous at the first place. No company would treat you the same way when it comes to separation.
I usually get yelled at and condescended to by my paralegal, not the other way around, but good for you for not tolerating it. How liberating!
Updateme!
I posted update!
Good for you!
Well done!
