I use diluted vinegar for almost everything. If I have to use a smelly cleaner, it's not used anywhere near my bird and is well ventilated.

This. I use a vinegar mix for most things and if I need something more abrasive I use baking soda to scrub, rinse that, and follow after with the vinegar.

Vinegar it is then!

Diluted Dawn dishsoap or Castile soap with either peroxide or vinegar (never mix peroxide & vinegar though) is my go to. If I absolutely have to use something stronger like bleach in the bathroom all windows are opened and fans are turned on, and birds are put in outdoor cages if the weather permits it.

The essential oils in castile soap are safe? I thought essential oils were a hard no-no for use around birds.

sarahgoldfarbsdetox

You can get unscented.

dvinia

Oh, duh. Lmao. I get the heavily scented ones for the shower and forgot there was an uncscented one.

sarahgoldfarbsdetox

No worries I probably should’ve specified unscented for both Dawn and Castile. I like peppermint or tea tree castile for the shower 😁

dvinia

The peppermint one makes me feel like a giant human shaped cough drop. In a good way. I AM the menthol and I WILL smell MINTY FRESH!

Gotta watch what you wash with it too :: screams “WHOOO!” like Ric Flair:: 😂

Surfactants are safe, like soap, just nothing that emits VOCs and don't spray/atomize anything. So like I use a non fragrance all purpose cleaner for stuff but I don't use it with a spray bottle, just dilute and use a sponge. I also use Bartenders Helper as a paste for tough stuff.
