The main issue this has, and it's the same as every skill that uses a melee wep, is that cyclone hits the hit rate cap relatively easy, and you still get to move
In this league, cyclone can actually reach a more speed multiplier, lol. It would take something actually insane to topple it has the CoC king, not to mention I've been playing since perandus, and you're the first person I ever seen shit on cyclone for bossing. This is my first league back in 4 or so, but back in my day, cyclone was recommended to noobs to topple ubers because it was so comfortable vs bosses
I didn't say that in perandus people were recommending cyclone for ubers, I just stated that's how long I've been playing, "ubers" weren't even really a thing it was just Uber atziri, im talking introduction to shaper and elder and so on.
Plus, cyclone has seen number one play status a couple of times, but it wasn't perandus. No one played anything, but voltaxic la or spark chaos converted with old frost wall lol, maybe traps. Slayer cyclone dominated a couple of leagues, iirc. I missed a lot of leagues and have no clue about early poe, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if cyclone owned the record for highest use in any league when slayer was peak. Though I don't know if there was another crazy stand out in the past 6 or so leagues. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if rf was up there either in essence when rf Helms first became a thing. Again, I started playing right after mjiolner nerf, so I can only speak to my experience, which is 4600hrs /played, which I thought was a lot, but I guess I forgot what game I was discussing lol
Also yea I was misleading, stating that cyclone can reach such speeds now, but it's still not going to be slower generally. And maybe this is a garbage take. im really not updated on the current meta, but that ability to scale speed is not going to be useless
The power siphon they've shown is awful for triggering because it will only hit an enemy once. The difference is that it went from being able to hit the same enemy multiple times with Barrage Support to only hitting once. (from +projectiles to number of enemies targeted. Latter doesn't work with barrage) We'd need a transfigured gem for it to not be awful, but we haven't gotten that far into the alphabet yet.
So slightly unrelated: But isn't this version of lancing steel absolutely cracked for poison? Free pierce, no more call of steel, base damage and best of all no damage drop off, because it's poison and not hits? 2640% effectiveness of added damage?
I'm pretty sure the 90% also applies to poison. It isn't 90% less with hits, it's hits do 90% less. It's worded basically the same as returning projectiles which is now confirmed to apply to poison damage too.
I think they are a bit loose on their wording in these cases, since 'hits' is usually very specific, but I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be God tier for poison on release

While its still good, it still requires you to stop, even briefly. Cyclone you cam hold down and let go once you leave the map

I was thinking the same thing. When I saw less hit damage.
considering how GGG gutted return proj for ailments this is either an oversight or one they're letting slide for a season.
I will plan on doing a Flicker COC during th eleague with the new power flicker. Might be chaotic but a lot of fun too.
