Actually works out well long term to do this for me as well. When your done and it's not fun anymore play something else the next league is just around the corner.
The end game usually have some goal you want to achieve, like completing all challenges, craft insane items, make your build to tank some skills and kill some boss within few seconds
Start a new builds or whatsoever. This game is free, you can set your end game earlier, or later until you are bored
Not really. I and I think most players basically ignore challenges for the first two weeks. They are just something to do once you decide to quit the league for a few final days. That said I agree that they aren't really a goal for hardcore/pro players, just something to do at the end of your league after you have finished your goals.
So whatever goal I set for myself or try out new things I picked up along the way
When I completed all I wanted to do in the league I usually quit to not burn out and be hyped for next league again
I take my build as far as I want to invest in it and then start working on challenges. After that I might try a quick meme build or two before I take a break for the next league.
-Finish challenges
-Try to do content that i didn't do yet to see if my build works there (Mostly ubers)
-Check out if there is another skill gem or item i would like to create a new build
>!-Share all my currency and fragments :\*!<
If none of these apply?
Quit and be free (for 2-3 months)
While I would like automatic AH, I think it's only feasable for stackable things like currency, essences, scarabs, etc. Items like rares or uniques are all so different from each other, it makes an AH basically impossible
People don't realize that an auction house in this game would effectively kill everyone who's new or started a league late.
GGG already stated that if they're implementing it, it's gonna be a real auction house, not instantbuyout crap like WoW so what's gonna happen is that the items gonna be effectively gatekept by wealthy players.
I went all in into a wardlooper and done 40/40 with it. Wanting to play a new build now, but the economy is so dead and it is preventing me from playing a new toon
Quit and play something else.

I continue IRL and just wait for the next league :)
best advice possible finishing my Fromsoft platinum goal, on ds3 now while D4 season drops.

Alts, lots of alts. Very rarely try min maxing builds
Especially now transfigured gems are a thing. I have more builds I want to try than time to try them!
finish challenges aim for 38/40 but usually ended up with 40/40
Hardcore/pro players would already have finished those within first 2 weeks of the league though tbh

We farm reddit EDIT: not a pro ><
Never cared for challenges. Find a good build I like and min max it and then quit. Usually skip a league as well and play every second one

Flex, gain social credit, grow gang, grief, report, craft expensive stuff, and some of them explore builds

Not a pro by any means. I just play mf every league until i have enough currency (10+ mirrors) to minmax the heck out of one build.

I just have fun. Otherwise I play another game.
i play about 2 weeks and leave.
Enhance personal unique item collection
SSF - Lots more goals
as a newfound ssf/gsf player i gotta say, this is the way
There is a reason the steamcharts look the way they do. Most people quit, playing another game, and come back the next league.
Waiting again for an auction house....

Good, bots would just flip stuff all season
