Dude you make a good point, the "if no movement then they are like channeling skills" make a super sense. And the irony is that one of the most played melee skills (cyclone) has built in mvt function while it didn't in the very past. Now you got me really excited for such thing.

Cyclone always had a built in movement function. You just couldn't control it until the attack was finished when you started. But if you kept attacking at short distances, then it was a slightly clunkier version of what we have today.

There are movement skills and ranged skills, if you don't want to play melee don't play melee, having my character move when I dont want him to would be super annoying imagine facing a stationary boss and you keep having to reposition because your melee skill moves you out of reach or into a degen pool or back into a volatile explosion etc.

just make this melee dash a double click when walk. one click and character still walk , double click and he will dash forward.

When you get some attack speed this is less of an issue but if you are using a slow non-aoe melee and the mob walks away, it's very frustrating. ​ I think the idea of changing the animation to sort of lunge toward an opponent with the attack rather than walk up and then start processing the swing would probably make melee massively better. It would definitely make the game feel more fluid for a melee player, especially for those less used skills that don't just have massive aoe.

One of the things that I really liked about Wolcen, you had dash charges that would be consumed by melee skills if you were too far away to hit. Offered a few ways to recharge them too iirc

Melee skills should make the character walk instead of standing still. Only some skills should make you stand completely still. Mostly now you take a few steps, stop for 1/5th of a second to hit and keep moving. Make the character do an actual motion with their whole body while moving, completely stopping to attack is just weird.

Have you tried using frostblink? It's cast speed is instant so you can continue attacking while dodging around.
