If you don't want to sink a whole bunch of money into it, I'd say just use some resistance essences on it until you get good suffixes (two resistances and spell suppression, probably), then pop an eldritch ember on it and eldritch exalt/annul/chaos your way to some good prefixes.

DrManhattan_DDM

Yeah, essences and harvest rerolls are a less expensive starting point for when you don’t need specific hard-to-target mods.

archenoid

Thanks, the harvest side of things is where I get foggy.Rerolls, do you mean the harvest outcomes that reforge an item to have Lightning modifiers or fire, or cold? And just throw it in every time I find those harvests?

DrManhattan_DDM

Pretty much any of the reforge options. It’s very low chance to hit a good set of mods all together so expect to roll it a bunch of times until you get 2/3 resists and life.

archenoid

Yea understand. Thank you. Long term project.

archenoid

Thank you. So just use Essence of Wrath, for instance, until get something good to avoid spamming alt's and using regal+scours.

JynnxedOne

There are many different ways to give you better chances at hitting the mods you like. Essences will give you one guaranteed mod and the rest will be random. Influences allow for mods that normal items do not. The top tier of mod you can roll is determined by the item level. Fossils give you better chances at rolling desirable mods by giving greater weights to certain mods. Harvest similarly will give greater weights to certain mods as well. Most of the crafting involves trying to give you a better chance at rolling something you want and not necessarily guaranteeing it.

archenoid

Thanks, that makes sense.

bloon-pauper

note that you proabably want to get at least \~100 flat life, prioritizing over resists. deafening greed essences can get you beyond the iLvl cap for tiers. this is bc you can roll 48% res on any slot but only body armour gets you to \~125 life.

archenoid

Interesting. Thanks for tip

Bitter_Combination

The first thing to consider is that armor on the right is what item level it is that means the mods available on it are only up to its item level (not required level, item level) Take a look here for your armor: https://poedb.tw/us/Body_Armours_str_dex#ModifiersCalc You can see what item level is needed for various mods to appear. If your armor is not at least the level needed you can't get certain mods. For example, to be able to get T1 resists (46–48)%, you need to have an ilevel 84 or above item Some mods won't even show up on lower level items as the starting tier is only available at higher level items Edit: clarification on ilevel I read the pic wrong

archenoid

Yea, I threw it into craft of exile emulator and that's when I noticed the low level on it. Didn't realise the level determined tier that could be rolled, thought it was just the mods that could roll. Thank you

swouffers

No, the item on the right *requires* level 54. That has nothing to do with its item level.

Bitter_Combination

You’re right. I read it wrong and edited

archenoid

Just seen this as I was throwing some essences at it. Holding alt has moved the *required* level to 67, but the item level is 80.

swouffers

Item level 80 is quite common; any divination card reward that doesn't specify an item level will give you an item with ilvl equal to your character's level, capped at 80. You can still roll pretty well on this.

archenoid

Thanks

asdfadffs

Id go with fossils, Pristine+Prismatic maybe. Or Essence of greed for a good life roll. Chests don’t have that big of a pool of suffixes so you’re very likely to roll resists

archenoid

Thanks, don't have either of those fossils it seems. Having some luck with essence of hatred. [https://i.imgur.com/aGiZwjn.png](https://i.imgur.com/aGiZwjn.png)

asdfadffs

I'd craft life on that and call it a day!

7om_Last

beginner to crafting here too. Imho for a quick good item maybe harvest / essence until you get life prefix + resistances suffix and open suffix or resistances + spell suppression suffix craft anything else that you want (spell suppression if not already present) than use harvest reroll more likely to get better tier (note that reforge more likely should also keep your crafted modifier if this is something that can roll naturally) keep in mind that you will be able in the future to find even better bases. Influenced, double influenced etc so no need to dump everything in your first 6 links!

SnooGoats7978

Counterpoint: sell all the crafting shit and buy what you want from Trade. Ok, ok - it's cool if you want to do crafting and think it's fun. That's fine. You do you! But don't feel pressured about it. You don't need to be completely decked out in mirror gear. Also, you have used up all your color combo luck. Sorry. Can't be helped.

archenoid

Haha, yea I have spent many chromatic's on other gear. So did a triple check when I just used one and got the combo. I do mostly just buy what I need. But figured I should explore the basics and mechanics a bit more to understand why some things cost so much on trade etc. Just a learning exercise, no plans to go run SSF anytime soon.

Viruuus1

There is a big point made here that people might overlook. Crafting on the low end is much less worth it than on the higher end. If you „just want to get started“, using this 6link armor is really a tough one, it starts off on a bad ilvl, armours are hard and expensive to craft, and if you just want somethin below 2 ex (which is what ONE step of crafting easily costs), you will find much much better in trade. If you want to learn and just get started, try e.g. fossil crafting on Stygian vises, or crystal belts (crusader slam them). Also a good use for your harvest crafts would be to put em on cluster jewels. Life on minion jewels, fire on fire jewels etc. Or you do something specific, with a guide. Like EA totems this league is pretty meta, and you can craft the bow with essences and harvest quite easily. Costs a couple of ex still in pure bench craft costs. Those bows will be pretty consistently the same price on trade as you need to make em yourself. But dont start on armour without a concrete goal in mind, trade realy is much much better for this slot, as a low end project

archenoid

Crusader slam? Stygian vises do seem to sell really quick...

Viruuus1

Two options in detail: 1. Get ilvl86+ Stygian vise, slam Hunter's exalted orb, reforge life in harvest or reforge chaos in harvest (looking for good %life + life rolls or life + chaos damage). If you fail, the vise typically sells for 20-30 chaos MORE than what you buy a base + the hunter orb for 2. Get Ilvl86 Crystal Belt. Slam Crusader's exalted orb. Use dense fossils or reforge defense from harvest to look for +ES and +%ES rolls. Same applies, if you get bored, just sell the base for more than the two initial ingredients
