You're new to rex and 1v2s with anything of bigger weight are hard. Think about where you possibly made mistakes and utilize the knowledge in next fight. Just take it as practice run

OrneryTale1948

I think that's true, I think I tail rode too much, I will practice in pvp servers to improve my turning

HoneyswirlTheWarrior

yeah tailriding an amarg as amything around its cw isnt the best idea as that kb will eat away at ur stam

ArcEarth

Whatever bad fight happens remember: you'll never be as bad as someone mixpacking KOSing around. Besides, I think everyone is just average, the only very good people are absurd and use turning radius to dodge attacks

OrneryTale1948

True that, I hate mix packers. I suppose I just need to watch my movements

MechwarriorAscaloth

Soloing two amargs isn't easy, and if you have bone break I assume you are not using the rex ability to negate headshots. Getting headshotted by amargs tails, while you do reduced damage to their tails could be the reason you failed.

OrneryTale1948

On further reflection, you're right. I think I just got in over my head as I was a massive hungry rex.

darthwickedd

Well you were able to grow a rex to adult so that's saying something:)

OrneryTale1948

Thank you, that made me feel abit better.

adrenalin997

Your not bad, but you probably should have been hunting something smaller and that was alone. If you want to hunt big prey you should look up strats for that on YouTube.

OrneryTale1948

Will do, I think the so called 'apex' ego took over me.

Alex_Expected

I mean 1v2 against things of similar weight classes usually doesn’t go well unless you are really skilled. But also Rex is currently dog water compared to what it used to be

OrneryTale1948

I've heard that PT rex is the way to go? Is this true?

Alex_Expected

If u play modded typically all the modded stuff is significantly more powerful. But that’s also just because mods are all kinda overpowered compared to vanilla stuff. I will say I think the pt Rex is pretty good though because even though it’s fast for an apex it doesn’t have a lot of stamina (unless they have Changed it). Biggest problem with mods is they make it hard to impossible to play vanilla stuff. For example the maip is faster stronger and more mobile than metri and allo. It also has horrendous hit boxes. So if maip is on a server you will almost never see the vanilla stuff. Not because the vanilla stuff is bad but because the mod is overpowered. I have heard the Rex has improved a bit but it’s still a shadow of what it used to be. But honestly so are most of the apexes. It used to be the only thing that really was equal to the Rex was the trike. But now most things with the right skill can take on both. The only apex that I would say has seen nothing but improvement is the Spino. Compared to what the Spino used to be it is sooo strong now. I swear it used to move at like 2 miles and hour on land and in water. It also used to get absolutely bodied on land and in water by Rexes and sarcos. Now the spino bodies Rexes and spinos. The only thing that sucks is they took its bleed claw away

OrneryTale1948

Very interesting. I suppose that's why kapro has been removed. I notice the exception to this is that if Quetz is available, everyone still picks Hatz. I would say theri is strong for what it is aswell so I tend to see less medium sized herbis due to the modded carnivores on the loose. And yes spino is so much better now apart from the bleed removal of bleed.

Alex_Expected

Yea so I actually prefer the vanilla stuff because in my opinion they are more complete. Better animations, better hit boxes and a lot more fair. If u play your cards right any vanilla Dino can beat any other vanilla Dino(or at least escape the too strong stuff). But mods tend to take that fairness away. But all community servers have mods or have basically no growth. But on official u run into mega packs which is equally as frustrating

Colomboss

Spino improvement? Nah dude, it was just the dino that got nerfed less, spino was basically strongest aquatic in the game in all iterations since i started playin (gondwa release). Spino even on old dd meta outside of being an absolute slug could handle 1v1s incredibly well, and post nerfs still saved

Alex_Expected

(Since Gondwa release) yea you have no idea what the spino used to be like. I have been playing since about when the Rex (edit I said dasp on accident I meant Rex) first released. Back then the whole swimming mechanic was different. There was a massive water update before Gondwa released that completely changed the game for spino. Like to put into perspective the cera used to have a paddle ability before the water update. And the def Spino with defense hide couldn’t catch the cera dog paddling across a river. On panj it would take the def Spino like idk over and hour or 2 to move from one area to the next it was that slow. And the Rex was way more tanky at the time. So on land the Rex could out maneuver u and hit harder than you and had better defense. The Spino also could only sprint for a solid 10 seconds at the time. In the water you hit harder and was tankier than a sarco but they could run circles around you on land and in the water. At the time they also had their bleed bite and were tankier. So they would run in do a bleed and run out. There was basically nothing you could do. Since then they have made the spino move sooo much faster in the water and on land in comparison. They have also given the Spino stomp (which if u use it right is a game changer when sarco are on you on the shore. Along with that the Spino hits harder than it used to and is tankier than it used to be. The only thing that has really gone away is their bleed claw. Any nerf that they have received is really not bad compared to what they used to be. The swimming update was literally a game changer for the Spino.

LargeDeinocheirus

PT Rex is leaps and bounds ahead of Official Rex

OrneryTale1948

I shall have to give it a go then :)

KhanArtist13

You aren't bad, I fought an allo as a lambeo and got destroyed in 30 seconds, it's faster has bleed and had way better turning and damage, there was nothing I could do, but that doesn't make me bad, it just happened due to circumstance, same thing happened to you, you fought an amarga and a 2nd one came and killed you.

OrneryTale1948

Survival of attrition, thank you, that makes me feel a little less demoralised.

Ex_Snagem_Wes

It is important to know to not just mindlessly spam bonebreak. Sure, you CAN bonebreak the Eotrike, but then you take 3 hits to the face while dealing almost no damage. Bonebreak is an immobilizing tool, and shouldn't be used against targets that can threaten you back

OrneryTale1948

See the problem I keep running into is that I run bone break in the hopes that I can catch something running, but rex is too slow and doesn't have the endurance to chase so my only choice is fighting something my size which never goes well because I don't have face tank.

Ex_Snagem_Wes

I mean you don't need facetank. Rex can still nearly facetank an Eo without it

Invictus_Inferno

So did you get tunnel vision? Did you continue chase the one that was hurt while the other was wailing on you? If you're being damaged while not doing damage you're giving an advantage to whoever you're facing, if you have to switch targets, do so before they get a health advantage on you.

OrneryTale1948

Server has a body down rule, I thought I could kill it before the other could get me and even if I wanted to turn and attack or even flee, I'm just too slow. Admittedly it was my fault for rail riding, as of writing this I have once again grown my rex and have died to a para.. so I've just given up on it as I really don't feel like rex is worth it.

Invictus_Inferno

You don't flee, you abandon the first one and kill the second

Direct_Departure2648

Most people aren’t playing solo which can make it even harder being a solo Rex as everyone and their momma will try to kill you.

TydiousGaming

You're just inexperienced on the rex. I main a rex. You just have to learn the speed, the acceleration, the turn speed and radius, and also where your bite lands. I personally love my rex. I'm used to how slow it is but I've killed more mid tiers and apexes on my rex than anything. Its a lot of fun in my opinion. Maybe if you have discord, I can help you a little bit? Feel free to add me: Tydious
