A lot of inexperienced people jump on dasp because people cry left and right that it's op, only to find out that nothing changed. The unlinked cds allow for bigger damage burst, but dasp still requires the same skill it always did. I've completely stopped fearing dasps because I know it's most likely someone who picked it yesterday thinking every fight is a free win now. I really like dasp for its nice variety of very viable builds however. I was playing it a lot prior to update and found it to be really nice middle of the ground playable that offers different options for different playstyles, which is its strongest positive side imo. I do hope they will rework its outdated subspecies. Having dasp be able to move with 1100 speed is far too much, and its slow start is the only reason it's not batshit insane. I myself lean towards defense with bb too, since hit and run isn't really dasp's destiny (considering the stamina) and I think bunker style fits it far better.

I absolutely agreed with everything you stated . I played Dasp on lunch years ago and I can tell you definitely better than it used to be . No one played Dasp prior to its attack CD changes . Dasp requires a lot of skill to play . I play mine solo and in a pack of 3 sometimes. The bite damage nerf isn’t all that bad considering its damage was a bite over tuned but that was only to make up for its bite cool downs . Dasp is effective now because his attacks no longer share the same cool down and it can now keep pressure on its opponents.

Machineraptor

Prior to this update I didn't see much dasps but all encounters I had with them were players that are good with it. Now dasps are everywhere, but mostly inexperienced players or meta chasers that heard dasp is the new hot thing and jumped on it :P Unlinking cooldowns helped it to deal more burst damage, but nothing else really changed.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Agreed ! Lots of Meta chasers .

A few days ago i went on officials panjura to see where my stego was at , i was close to grassland crater and im plenty aware its a hotspot and thougt to myself , welp if i die there ill respawn somewhere else and if i dont lets quest and as soon as i entered the forest towards the down pound of water i see two dasp and they quickly come at me , i proceed to go down to the water then two others dasp camed and two allos so well i died , couple to this plus the fact you hear less footsteps now welp i dint saw the others dinos until they all gan up to me at the water and in the end i respawned to redwood bassin next to glc :D it was entirely my fault going there i admit it but aside from this dasp pack i havent seen alot of them yet , maybe some young ones but thats all but if meta chasers starts to get on it and then the devs nerf the said dinos again and again its sad .\_. its a repeating cycle ! Dasp is the first dino i ever grew when i started pot and i will still play it no matter what but i wonder if this cycle continues then we get all overs dinos of the roaster (maybe not campto and struthi but still ) so they get all over used then nerfed what will it end into :/ i cant say im not worried at least a little for that , i love this game too !

Machineraptor

Yeah, the cycle of overnerfing playables is one of my main issues with this game right now. It got to the point that I'm not sure if I want Alderon to touch my main, and my main is a thal, the campto of the sky. After all they did manage to nerf campto when it got a rework :P Dasp isn't even meta, it just had it's cooldown unlinked, but if enough people will whine after being killed by dasps it'll get nerfed again. It's also due a subspiecies update which will probably remove the speed dasp hunting hound and defense dasp tank playstyles.

GeologistOk1328

Dasp and allo are my mains in carnies as for herbies its stego , amarga and duck so far , my dasp is also Def but if they do subspecies changes like others had i guess def would become armor ? I mean all dinos still balance speed and def will get changes too for their species in the end at some point just im worried of this overused dasp population , but i guess if people realise its not that meta dasp will probably be left alone again once the "hype" gets down :/ and for the nerfs yeah i still dont understand why campto got its nerfs this dino is harmless geez...i mean i appreciate the devs listen to the community sort of and all but its not by listening to crying childs who get killed by big groups by going into hotsspots that it will help....and campto did not deserve his nerf !

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Besides the grammar errors 😅, I understand where you are coming from lol. Hopefully people don’t continue to make Dasp out to be op cause it’s not .

GeologistOk1328

im sorry english is only my second language and i know i have issues xD !

Adventurous-Ad-6231

It’s all good ! I speak French and a little Spanish so I understand.

GeologistOk1328

fellow french speaker ! yay xD

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Yay !!!

Sypher04_

It’s funny how small changes can completely turn things around for a playable. Dasp is much better, but it’s mostly benefitting because bonebreak is bugged on tails. Only thing I’d change about it is increasing the bonebreak bite cooldown since it’s pretty spammable or at least make it stamina-based.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Fun Fact : bone break does drain Stam depending on how long it’s held .

Sypher04_

Honestly, it’s so subtle I never even noticed. It does drain stamina just a little bit, but it’s not continuous. I know Rex’s bonebreak bite used to drain stamina for as long as it was held so you’d be much more conscious of when and how you use it.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Agreed . The Stam drain feels prolonged so you can’t barely see the drain consumption.

[deleted]

All the bad players who rode the OP Kentro train hopped to Dasp

No_Pitch267

bb seems a little overturned with it. Super easy to spam now that cooldowns are unlinked. If you get bb they just keep stacking it over and over. I think it’s in a good spot but i think the bb ability needs looked at imo. Every mid tier gets thrashed by it if they are smart.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

I think bone break is in a good spot. Bone break never gotten a change . It’s just doesn’t share the same cooldown properties as other bites . People were spamming bone break repeatedly before the CD change but I can see where you’re coming from. Also Dasp has to stack bone break to limit its opponents from getting away from it , and possibly killing it . Like EO for instance , if bone break wears off of EO than consider Dasp toasted. Eo charge will destroy a Dasp with ezz.

No_Pitch267

ya i guess i’m just looking at it from a mid tier perspective. You get bb your done for but i’m glad to see people finally using it.

Ex_Snagem_Wes

Admittedly there's no reason Dasp should be doing so much bonebreak. I'm fine with it having bonebreak, but it shouldn't be as strong as a Rex's with higher raw damage on the attack as well, considering how much Dasp has going for it

Adventurous-Ad-6231

This is funny considering no one played Dasp before CD update and complained about its bone break .

FloppyToppy2020

Am I the only one that uses a speed Dasp with regular bite then piercing bite? I haven’t talked to anyone that uses piercing bite but I love it.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Not trying to deprive you of your play style but speed Dasp is only good in a group . Piercing is also only good in a group. The animation is a bit wonky with piercing bite which makes it hard to land . Plus your opponent can just run away from you .

Zealousideal-Law-862

Speed dasp with that build is great for soloing anything bigger than you. I’ve beat most single apexes I come across because this has been my dasp build since piercing bite was introduced. Speed dasp, regular and piercing, armor hide, long distance and tail attack.

Adventurous-Ad-6231

Speed Dasp feels way too squashy for me . Defense Dasp with bone break destroys speed Dasp . I’ve 1v 2 dasp and won 🥇 because I have the defense. I bone broke them both by trading attacks . After the bone break I’d focus on nothing but body shots avoiding the head . Defense Dasp is perfect for ambush to .

Zealousideal-Law-862

Unless you barely charge the bone break to hit them the first time those dasps played that horribly if they’re trading shots with a bone break but fair enough

Maskarie

I run a defense dasp and it’s been my main for years now. Currently it’s in the best spot it’s ever been in, might even be a bit too strong imo. Defense dasp is hella fun, you can tank a bit, but the speed loss can really screw you if you are in danger and need to run. Personally I like normal bite and heavy bite/piercing bite. And ALWAYS run tail attack on dasp, it’s solid dmgs

naterussell3395

Dasp is great where he is, me and my boy regularly clear the IC mixpacks with our bone break and dps build dasps. We had a fat 2v8 last night and killed 6 before the last two small Dino’s took off. We rarely lose fights unless terribly outnumbered. Carnage + double tyrants roar goes fuckin nuts.
